Description

The invention relates to a lamp which can be switched between direct lighting and indirect lighting, with a housing, with at least one socket arranged in the housing and connected to it for at least one lamp, and with an adjusting device for moving the socket with the lamp relative to the housing between a position for direct lighting and a position for indirect lighting.

Definition: "Direct lighting" is understood to mean lighting in which the luminous flux from a lamp reaches a room or area to be illuminated without being deflected. “Indirect lighting” is understood to mean lighting in which the luminous flux only reaches the room or area to be illuminated via walls or reflectors that deflect it.

Such a lamp is known from DE-A-34 13 354. In the known luminaire, the socket, together with its lamp, is fastened to a support, which can also be referred to as part of a housing, so as to be rotatable about the lamp longitudinal axis. The socket is provided with a reflector that covers half the side of the lamp. In the position for direct lighting, the reflector is located above the lamp, so that the light reaches the room to be illuminated directly from the lamp via the lower opening of a lampshade. By rotating the lamp with its socket and its reflector at 180 ° around the longitudinal axis of the lamp reaches the bottom of the lamp, so that no more light can go down, but only up through the lampshade against the ceiling, which reflects the luminous flux into the room to be illuminated. This rotating position of the lamp and its reflector is therefore the position for indirect lighting. The lamp can be rotated about its longitudinal axis by hand or electrically by a motor. A plurality of lamps which can be rotated about their longitudinal axis by 180 ° between the two positions can be rotated by hand or by motor using a common device.

From US-A-3 829 679 a lamp is only known for direct lighting. In a housing, a lamp can be swiveled either behind one or the other of two housing openings. The two housing openings are designed differently. For example, one housing opening can be used to generate "reading light" and the other housing opening can be provided with a lens for generating "examination light" for examining a patient in a hospital.

A luminaire for indirect lighting only shows FR-A-25 67 622 (registration no .: 85 10718), which contains a lamp which can be pivoted from a position for indirect lighting behind a reflector, thereby reducing the strength of the Luminaire emerging luminous flux from a maximum value to zero. Furthermore, from DE-U 88 02 509.8 and GB-A-510 448 luminaires with a reflector screen are known, which consists of a downwardly funnel-shaped screen part and a funnel-shaped adjoining at the upper end extended part of the screen. A lamp arranged in the shade always emits light directly into the room to be illuminated through the lower part of the shade. The further the lamp in the shade is moved upwards relative to it, the more a part of the luminous flux of the lamp also reaches the ceiling via the upper shade part and thus indirectly into the room or the room. From DE utility model document 1 641 917 a luminaire with a fluorescent lamp is known, which can be adjusted within an essentially semicircular reflector with respect to its location relative to the reflector in order to generate either a deep radiation or a wide radiation. The luminous flux arrives directly in the room area to be illuminated. A similar lamp is also known from AT-B-382 949. Luminaires with lamps which can be pivoted in different directions are known from DE utility model specification 1,780,697 and US Pat. No. 4,712,167, the light flowing in all positions directly into the area to be illuminated. DE-A-767 759 shows a lamp with a lamp arranged within an annular reflector. The lamp can be moved around in the reflector, thereby changing the direction of the light reflected by the reflector. DE-PS 411 679 shows a lampshade with a pivotable shade part, a socket for a lamp being attached to the shade part. As a result, the lamp can be pivoted out of the screen together with the screen part, so that the lamp shines directly and undamped into the room to be illuminated when the screen part is pivoted out. When the pivotable shade part is swiveled in, the lamp is completely inside the lamp shade and its light in turn reaches it directly, but attenuated by the material of the Lampshade, in the room to be illuminated.

The object of the invention is to achieve a simpler and more versatile construction for the lamp of the type mentioned at the outset. Furthermore, the invention is to design the lamp so that it can be switched between direct lighting and indirect lighting not only when using incandescent lamps but also when using long fluorescent tubes. A low actuation force and short actuation distances should be required for switching between direct lighting and indirect lighting.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that two light outlets pointing in opposite directions are provided, that between the two light outlets a wall is provided with a wall surface located at a distance from the two light outlets, which is facing away from one light outlet and facing the other light outlet is that a light beam path is formed from one light outlet around one end of the wall and over its wall surface to the other light outlet, that the lamp is arranged in the light beam path, and that the lamp with its holder is movable between two different locations relative to the housing, the lamp being movable over one end of the wall, and the lamp passing through the one light outlet at one location in the position for direct lighting and through the other position between the wall surface and the other light outlet at the position for indirect lighting other li outlet is located.

The lamp according to the invention can be a floor lamp, ceiling lamp or wall lamp. The lamp according to the invention shown as an example in the drawing is a floor lamp. It contains a stand or support 2, a housing 4, first and second reflectors 6 and 8 for direct lighting of a room area 10 to be illuminated, and first, second and third reflectors 12, 14 and 16 for indirect lighting of the room area 10 to be illuminated. The second reflector 8 for direct lighting and the reflectors 12, 14 and 16 for indirect lighting consist of a single piece. The two reflectors 6 and 8 for direct lighting are arranged at a distance from one another and extend upwards from the lower surface 18 of the housing 4, whereby they converge in a parabolic shape and their reflecting surfaces 7 and 9 lie opposite one another. The surfaces 13, 15 and 17 of the reflectors 12, 14 and 16 for indirect lighting are directed upwards to a light outlet 36 for indirect lighting. The left end 19 of the left, first reflector 12 for indirect lighting in the drawing adjoins the upper end 21 of the right, second reflector 8 for direct lighting. The two ends 19 and 21 form the apex of an angle between approximately 60 ° and 120 ° between the two reflectors 8 and 12. The second reflector 14 for indirect lighting is located between the first reflector 12 and the third reflector 16 for indirect lighting. All reflectors are arcuate concave so that they reflect the light from lamps 20, 22 and 24 and focus. Above the two second and third reflectors 14 and 16 for indirect lighting shown on the right in the drawing, there is one of the lamps 22 and 24 in each case in a holder 26 and 28 arranged in a fixed manner in the housing 4. The housing 4 has the area to be illuminated 10 opposite bottom 30 an opening 32 between the two reflectors 6 and 8 as a light outlet for direct lighting. The housing 4 also has on the top 34 the opening 36 which extends as a light outlet for indirect lighting over all three upward-facing reflectors 12, 14 and 16 for indirect lighting. The second reflector 8 for direct lighting extends from the lower opening 32 to one end 19 of the first reflector 12 for indirect lighting. The first reflector 6 for direct lighting extends from the lower opening 32 upwards beyond the ends 19 and 21 of the two reflectors 8 and 12. The housing 4 is connected to the carrier 2 via an electrical connection channel 38 for electrical lines. In the housing 4 electrical terminals 40 and a starter 42 for the lamps 20, 22 and 24 are attached. The lamps 20, 22 and 24 are each U-shaped fluorescent tubes, the two ends of which lie parallel next to one another and are inserted into the associated holder 26, 28. Because of the cross-sectional representation, each lamp or tube 20, 22 and 24 is only visible in the form of two rings.

The socket 44, which carries the lamp 20 and supplies it with electricity, is not fixed directly to the housing 4, but is fixed in place on an adjusting element 46 by means of screws 48. The adjusting element 46 has the shape of a leaf-like lever which is pivotally attached to an end wall 52 of the housing 4 via a bearing pin 50. The adjusting element 46 has on its side of the bearing bolt 50 facing away from the socket 44 a manual actuating element 54 which protrudes from the underside 30 of the housing 4. The position of the adjusting element 46 shown in the drawing with the solid lines and the holder 44 carried by it with the lamp 20 is the position for direct lighting, in which the light of this lamp 20 is radiated directly into the area 10 to be illuminated in accordance with the arrows 56 , reflected and bundled by reflectors 6 and 8 for direct lighting. Part of the luminous flux of this lamp 20 also reaches the room area 10 to be illuminated indirectly via the upper opening 36 of the housing 4, reflected and bundled by the reflector 12 directed upwards for indirect lighting. There is a stop 58 of the manual control element 54 on the underside 30 of the housing 4 and holds the setting element 46 with its holder 44 in the position shown in the drawing in solid lines for direct lighting. In this position for direct lighting, the lamp 20 and its socket 44 are located at a location between the two light outlets or openings 32 and 36, the lamp 20 being spaced from these openings 32 and 36 so that their light is direct reaches these openings without redirection.

The adjusting element 46 can be pivoted with its manual actuating element 54 into the position shown in broken lines in the drawing, in which the lamp 20 carried by the adjusting element 46 with the holder 44 is completely above that in the drawing The first reflector 12 for indirect lighting shown on the left is located at a location between this first reflector 12 and the upper opening 36. In this position for indirect lighting, the light of the lamp 20 is directed only upward from the first reflector 12 for indirect lighting located below it through the opening 36 of the housing 4, and thus on an indirect light beam path around the housing 4, into the ones to be illuminated Room area 10 delivered. In this position of the lamp 20, shown in dash-dotted lines, only a small proportion of the light passes from it via the reflector 6 and thus also indirectly through the lower opening 32 of the housing 4 into the room area 10 to be illuminated. This position for indirect lighting another stop 60 of the manual control element 54 on the underside 30 of the housing 4 and holds the lamp 20 in this position for indirect lighting. The path section for indirect lighting is shown schematically in the drawing by arrows 62.

As the drawing shows, the left end 19 of the first reflector 12 forms a corner or a step, around which the lamp 20 with its holder 44 can be pivoted between the two locations mentioned.

The parts which can be pivoted in the aforementioned manner are provided with the same reference numbers in both positions, but have the additional number 2 in the position shown in dash-dotted lines for indirect lighting.

In addition to or instead of the manual control element 54, an electromagnetic drive 66 can be provided for adjusting the setting element 46, which is the holder 44 carries with the lamp 20. As an example, the drawing shows as an electromagnetic drive 66 an electromagnet 68 fastened to the end wall 52 of the housing 4 with a plunger 70 which is pivotally connected to the adjusting element 48 via a joint 72. By alternately energizing the electromagnet 68, the setting element 46 with the holder 44 and the lamp 20 can be adjusted via the plunger 70 either in the position for direct lighting (solid lines) or in the position for indirect lighting (dash-dotted lines).

The two reflectors 6 and 8 for direct lighting and the neighboring reflector 12 for indirect lighting form between them a light beam path 76, the ends of which are facing away from one another and are formed by the lower opening 32 and the upper opening 36 of the housing 4. The lamp 20 can be adjusted with the socket 44 within the light beam path 76 between the two locations and thereby between the two positions for direct lighting and indirect lighting around the left end 19 of the first reflector 12. The section 77 of the light beam path 76, which lies between the two reflectors 6 and 8 and the lower opening 32 for direct illumination, extends approximately at right angles to the section 79 of the light beam path 76, which is between the reflectors 12, 14 and 16 and the upper opening 36 for indirect lighting.

The invention can be carried out in various other embodiments. For example, a luminaire can contain several lamps, which are selectively adjustable between a position for direct lighting and a position for indirect lighting. The socket 44 for the adjustable lamp 20 can instead of a pivotable element 46 can also be carried by a rotatable adjusting element. A preferred embodiment consists in that the socket 44 with the lamp 20 can be pivoted about an axis of rotation by a motor or a manually operated rotary knob which is arranged inside or outside a front wall of the housing 4. This axis of rotation can be formed by the bearing pin 50 or by an axis. The socket 44 can be rotatably arranged on the axis of rotation relative to it or can be connected to it in a rotationally fixed manner. Another possible embodiment is that the adjustment between the two locations and positions is not carried out by a pivoting or rotating movement, but by a linear displacement within the housing 4. Of course, the light in the openings 32 and 36 can also contain panels or translucent covers.
