Claims (11)

  1. Device for driving a load comprising a pulley (1, 12, 38, 91, 106) driven in rotation, a flexible belt (4, 14, 40, 54, 70, 92, 112) which unwinds on the periphery of the said pulley, the load being fixed to a run of the said belt, and constraining means for pressing the belt (4, 14, 40, 54, 70, 92, 112) onto the peripheral surface of the pulley, the said means consisting principally of at least one roller (7, 24, 45, 59, 72, 93), and the peripheral surface of the pulley (1, 12, 38, 91, 106) being profiled to receive the coil of such a belt in co-operation with a counter-profile, characterised in that the belt (4, 14, 40, 54, 70, 92, 112) is flat, and the counter-profile corresponds to the profile of the peripheral surface of the pulley and belongs to the peripheral surface of the pressure roller or rollers (7, 24, 45, 59, 72, 93).
  2. Device as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the peripheral surface of the pulley (73) has a profile (74) intended to ensure the centering of the flat belt (70), when it is unwinding, with respect to the median plane, the said profile (74) being flat and framed by flanges, whilst the peripheral profile of the pressure element (75) is equally flat.
  3. Device as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the peripheral surface (39, 69, 76) of the pulley (38, 68, 77, 79) has a profile intended to ensure the centering of the flat belt (40, 70), when it is unwinding, with respect to the median plane, the said profile (71, 78, 80) being concave with an elliptical shape or in a very flattened V shape, possibly with a flat base or a base formed by an arc tangent on the two branches of the V, the peripheral profile of the pressure element (45, 72) being the counter-profile corresponding to the peripheral profile of the pulley.
  4. Device as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the peripheral surface of the pulley (82, 84) has a profile intended to ensure the centering of the flat belt (70), when it is unwinding, with respect to the median plane, the said profile (81, 83) being convex with an elliptical shape or in the shape of a very flattened V, possibly with a flat base or a base formed by an arc tangent on the two branches of the V, the peripheral profile of the pressure element being the counter-profile corresponding to the peripheral profile of the pulley.
  5. Device as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterised by a deflecting guide (98, 104) associated with the pulley (91, 106) between the two points where the flexible flat belt (92, 112) comes into contact and goes out of contact with the pulley, according to the direction of rotation of the latter, and the said deflecting guide deflects the run of the belt coming from the pulley out of the circular path which the latter, by its movement, tends to impart thereto.
  6. Device as claimed in claim 5, characterised in that the deflecting guide (98) has a curved face (102) placed facing and in the extreme proximity of the arc portion of the pulley (91) which is prevents from having access to the run of the flexible flat belt (92) coming from the pulley, the said curved surface (102) being concentric with the arc of the pulley.
  7. Device as claimed in claim 5, characterised in that the deflecting guide (104) has a curved face (105) placed facing and in the extreme proximity of the arc portion of the pulley (106) which it prevents from having access to the run of the flexible flat belt (112) coming from the pulley, the radius of curvature of the said face (105) being substantially less than that of the pulley and its two ends being applied in friction against the periphery of the pulley, possibly in a position which is movable towards the centre of the pulley under the effect of a spring (107), the said position being capable of being regulated for a more or less strong friction or to break the contact of the two ends of the said face (105) with the periphery of the pulley.
  8. Device as claimed in claim 6, characterised in that the curved face (102) of the deflecting guide (98) is prolonged at each of its ends by a lateral face (100) according to an arrangement for orientating the unwinding of the run of the belt (92) towards an outlet opening in the housing of the apparatus.
  9. Device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that a pair of rollers (113, 114) arranged on either side of the flat belt (92, 112), between the pulley (91, 106) and the opening of the apparatus, at least on the side of the slack run, the axes of the said rollers being parallel to that of the pulley, and the pair of rollers is applied in constant contact with each of the flat faces of the said belt in such a way as to accompany its movement, one (114) of the rollers being pressed for this purpose against the said run by a spring (116) and one (113) of these rollers being driven at the same peripheral speed as the pulley.
  10. Device as claimed in claim 9, characterised in that the pair or pairs of rollers (113, 114) is or are completed by a pair of rollers (120, 121) situated near to them, the axes of which are perpendicular to the axes of the first ones in such a way as to frame the run in question on all its faces.
  11. Device as claimed in one of claims 1 to 10, characterised in that it includes a system (118) for winding up the slack run (97), acted on constantly by a spring mechanism (119) in the direction of winding, whatever the direction of rotation of the said winding system (118) may be.
