Abstract

A circular saw head (1) for cutting lateral boards (3) from a log (2) has a saw blade (4) mounted on a saw shaft (10) by a bearing flange (5). Within a crown of saw teeth (13) of the circular saw blade (4), radially spaced from the saw teeth (13), is arranged a frontal annular bearing surface (12) that axially projects beyond the front face (8) of the saw blade (4) and lies on the plane of the frontal outer edges (14) of the saw teeth (13). The bearing surface (12) supports the wood surface sawn by the saw teeth (13), thus guiding the wood.

Description

The invention relates to a circular saw head for sawing off side boards of logs or models with an axially outer and an inner circular saw blade, each of which has a ring of saw teeth and is attached on the end face to a supporting flange on a common hub.

Such circular saw heads are usually arranged in pairs one above the other on one or both sides of the log or model to be processed and cut off one or more side boards while the log or model is guided along the circular saw heads. The log or model is guided both by the feed device and by fixed guide elements, which should reach as close as possible to the circular saw heads in order to support and guide the wood as close as possible to the point at which the saw cuts are made.

In this context, the "outer" circular saw blade is the circular saw blade arranged on the face of the circular saw head, which produces the inner kerf on the log to be processed. The "inner" circular saw blade is opposite the outer circular saw blade axially reset on the circular saw head and creates the outer kerf on the log.

Since the circular saw heads have to be adjusted to change to different wood dimensions, the guide elements also have to be adjusted, which is relatively expensive. For this reason, such additional guide elements are dispensed with in most cases. However, this often leads to insufficient guidance of the wood in the sawing area. The lateral forces caused by improper guiding of the wood, which are exerted by the wood on the circular saws, make it necessary to make the circular saw blades sufficiently thick to be able to absorb these lateral forces. This requires a wider kerf, which in turn leads to an increased amount of sawdust, which represents a considerable loss of material.

A circular saw head of the aforementioned type, which has no guide elements for the wood, is known from DE-C-03 508 716.

It is known (US Pat. No. 1,861,218) to provide two lateral annular support surfaces for a circular saw blade, which are located within the ring of saw teeth and at a radial distance from them. The end circular support surface projects axially beyond the end face of the circular saw blade and lies in the plane of the outer edges of the saw teeth on the end face. By means of these support surfaces on both sides, the relatively thin circular saw blade is guided in the sawing gap, so that lateral vibrations are avoided. The sawn wood is not guided or supported.

In addition, a knife head is known (DE-A-1 913 295), in which a freely rotatably mounted, annular end face is provided for the processed wood.

The object of the invention is therefore to design a circular saw head of the type mentioned in such a way that an improved lateral guidance of the wood and thus a reduction in the lateral forces exerted by the wood on the circular saw blades are achieved.

This object is achieved in that a support ring is freely rotatably mounted between the support flange of the outer circular saw blade and the support flange of the inner circular saw blade, which has a radial support surface lying radially between the two support flanges, which projects axially over the end face of the inner circular saw blade and in the plane of the outer edges of the saw teeth of the inner circular saw blade.

The support surface within the inner circular saw blade supports the side board produced between the two circular saw blades. This support of the side board on its outer edge prevents this side board from exerting a lateral force on the inner circular saw blade. The inner circular saw blade, which now only forms a relatively narrow circular ring and has only a small blade projection over its supporting flange, can therefore be made relatively thin, so that the kerf produced by him is narrow. The cutting losses that occur are therefore also low.

Zugleich werden Spannungen aufgenommen, die beim Abtrennen der Seitenbretter frei werdenThe guidance of the side board on its outer edge through the freely rotatable support ring results in good wood guidance, which contributes significantly to achieving more precise cut goods. The log is guided between the support rings of the two pairs of circular saw heads because the lateral support is provided by the support rings close to the point at which the side boards are separated from the log. At the same time, tensions are absorbed that are released when the side boards are removed

A reduction in the frictional heat is achieved by the freely rotatable mounting of the support ring. Even at very high speeds of the circular saw head, the risk is significantly reduced that the wooden surfaces come into contact with the end faces of the circular saw blades and could be burned there by the frictional heat generated. Because of its freely rotatable mounting, the support ring takes up the peripheral speed at which the friction is lowest compared to the wood moving along it.

It is known in knife heads for profile machining of round wood (DE-A 19 13 295, US-A-1 555 382) to provide a freely rotatable support disc for the machined wood surface on the end face in the center of the knife head. These The measure is expedient in the case of such cutter heads and has also proven very successful there because the support disk of these cutter heads lies in the area of the machined surface of the logs moving along them. In contrast, the central axes of the circular saw heads affected here lie far above or below the logs to be processed. The known, freely rotatable central support disk would be ineffective with such a circular saw head, because there is no longer any wood surface to be supported in the area of the support disk.

It is known (US-A-4 456 045, Fig. 5) to provide an end circular support surface within a circular saw blade, which lies in the plane of the end outer edges of the saw teeth. However, this is not a circular saw head for sawing off side boards from wooden logs, but rather a knife head that carries a separately drivable circular saw on its face, which creates a smooth sawn surface on the wooden log. Since the support surface is driven at the same speed as the circular saw, very high frictional heat can develop, which can cause the wood surface to burn.

Weitere vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen des Erfindungsgedankens sind Gegenstand weiterer Unteransprüche.Further advantageous embodiments of the inventive concept are the subject of further dependent claims.

The invention is explained in more detail below using exemplary embodiments which are illustrated in the drawing. It shows:
  • 1 shows a circular saw head in section, parts of an axially parallel circular saw head and the cross section of a log or model to be machined being shown,
  • Fig. 2 shows a modified embodiment of the circular saw head according to Fig. 1 in section.

The circular saw heads 101 and 101 'shown in Fig. 1 serve to saw off an inner side board 103 and an outer side board 104 from a log 2. The two circular saw heads 101 and 101 'are arranged axially parallel one above the other. Before the log 2 is fed to the circular saw heads 101, 101 ', it is flattened on all four sides. In addition, the edges of the log that lie in front of the edges of the side boards 103, 104 are milled out.

The circular saw head 101 and 101 'has an axially outer circular saw blade 105 which is screwed to an annular support flange 106 which is screwed to a hub 107. An inner circular saw blade 108 which is axially inwardly offset with respect to the outer circular saw blade 105 is screwed to a support flange 109, the diameter of which is larger than the outer diameter of the outer support flange 106. The inner support flange 109 is pot-shaped and also connected to the hub 107 or made in one piece with it.

The hub 107 is removably attached to a saw shaft flange 110 that is attached to the end of a saw shaft 111. The support flange 109 of the inner circular saw blade 108 encloses an annular space 112 which contains a freely rotatable support ring 113. The support ring 113 is rotatably supported on the hub 107 via a roller bearing 114, for example a deep groove ball bearing. The roller bearing 114 is axially supported on a shoulder 115 of the hub 107.

Die Stützfläche 117 liegt in derselben Ebene wie die seitlichen Schneidenkanten 14 der üblicherweise mit Hartmetallplättchen bestückten Sägezähne 13.The annular space 112 has an annular opening 116 which lies radially inside the support flange 109, but radially outside the support flange 106. The support ring 113 projects out of this opening 116 with an annular support surface 117, the support surface 117 projecting axially by a small amount beyond the end face 118 of the inner circular saw blade 108. The support surface 117 lies in the same plane as the lateral cutting edges 14 of the saw teeth 13 which are usually equipped with hard metal flakes.

Eine seitliche Berührung der gesägten Holzflächen mit sich schnell bewegenden Stirnflächen am Kreissägekopf wird damit verhindert.1, the outer edge of the inner side board 103 separated from the two circular saw heads 101 and 101 'is supported axially outward on the support surface 117 of the support ring 113. Regardless of the speed of the circular saw head, which can therefore be selected to be relatively high, the support ring 113 rotates only as slowly as is required by the movement of the log 2 moved along. This prevents the sawn wooden surfaces from touching the fast-moving end faces on the circular saw head.

Since the inner circular saw blade 108 forms only a relatively narrow circular ring surface and protrudes only slightly beyond its supporting flange 109 and, moreover, does not have to absorb any lateral supporting forces, it can be made relatively narrow, for example as narrow as the outer circular saw blade 105 largely unloaded by lateral forces.

The embodiment of a circular saw head 101 eines shown in FIG. 2 differs from the previously described example only in that cutter edges 119 and 120 are arranged on the circumference of the two support flanges 106 and 109, which machine the edges of the side boards 103 and 104, as in FIG 2 is indicated below.

This eliminates the need to carry out the step-like edge milling on the log 2 before it is processed by the circular saw head 101 ".

As can also be seen from FIG. 2, the cutter blades 119 arranged on the support flange 106 of the outer circular saw blade 105 extend axially beyond the distance between the two circular saw blades 105 and 108. They protrude into an end-side recess 121 of the support ring 113. This ensures that the edge of the side board 103 is machined over the entire width without the cutter edges 119 colliding with the slower rotating support ring 113.

In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, a support surface assigned to the outer circular saw blade 105 has been dispensed with. Here follows a side guide of the main goods of the log 2 indirectly by supporting the edges of the side board 103 through the support surface 117, because the two circular saw heads 101 and 101 'in the longitudinal direction of the log 2 are offset from each other. The side board supported on the support surface 117 is thus only partially separated from the main article, so that the lateral support and guiding force exerted on the side board 103 is also exerted on the main article of the log 2.
