Abstract

To produce individual printed product packages (33 to 36), feeders 1 to 4 which receive various printed products (6 to 9) are arranged above a rotating collecting line (5). In accordance with a predetermined printed-product distribution address and an individual insert code for each receiver, a computer (10) is used to actuate each of the valves (11 to 14) for the purpose of producing the individual printed product packets (33 to 36) on the collecting line (5). To the rear of the collecting line (5) the printed product packages (33 to 36) can be placed in film pockets (39) and addressed by an addressing device (41).

Description

The invention relates to a method for collating printed products, in particular separately stored inserts.

With the devices of the aforementioned type which have been generally customary to date, it has already been possible to automatically and / or partly manually collate printed products consisting of inserts and, if appropriate, a current printed product in the form of a newspaper. Such printed products are then delivered to the recipients, for example the subscribers to newspapers, via corresponding distribution systems. Individualization of the compiled printed products was not possible or was not possible rationally, especially not if a larger number of printed products or supplements had to be compiled. There are already four options for an individual combination with two printed products and sixteen with four printed products. The combination possibilities increase very strongly with an even larger number of printed products or inserts to be compiled, which is due to the fact that previously individually controlled collection of printed products was not possible, for example newspaper subscribers according to their wishes for the daily newspaper, a selected, individual offer of inserts to provide.

The object of the present invention is to provide a method and a device for collating printed products, according to which a given product or newspaper subscriber group is to be provided with an individual printed product package, for example in the form of an "individual newspaper", for each subscriber.

This object is achieved by applying the features of the characterizing part. Further developments of the invention result from the subclaims and from the description in connection with the drawing. This shows in schematic form the device according to the invention with which the method on which the invention is based can be carried out.

In the exemplary embodiment, feeders 1, 2, 3, 4 for receiving printed products 6, 7, 8, 9 to be gathered are preferably positioned above a collecting line 5. The collecting line 5 can comprise rotating endless belts or chains, not specified in any more detail. The printed products in the form of supplements, which are stored separately from one another in investors 1 to 4, are to be assembled into individual printed product packages in accordance with a print product distributor address sequence stored in a computer (10) or in some other way, taking into account an insert key. The print product distribution address sequence results from the subscribers or prospect addresses for the print products or print product packages to be compiled. These are preferably newspaper subscribers whose name and place of residence are known, so that a print product distribution address sequence results for individual regions, for example for streets. At the same time, the subscribers' insert requests are known, which results in the insert key, which can also be stored in the computer (10) or in some other way, and which specifies individually for each (newspaper) subscriber which inserts he would like to have delivered. Of the printed products 6 to 9, a product, preferably the first or the last (6 or 9), can thus be an individual printed product in the form of a newspaper. However, it is also possible that all of the printed products 6 to 9 are stored inserts and that the current printed product in the form of a newspaper is fed directly to the left of the collecting line 5 directly from a printing machine, not shown, or from a folder connected downstream from it.

The feeders 1 to 4 for the printed products are each equipped with valves 11 to 14 and with ribbon lines 15 to 18. By means of a pivotable take-over device, which is not described in any more detail here, the rear printed products 6 to 9 are respectively removed, that is, suctioned off and sent to the respectively assigned ones, under vacuum use with appropriate control of the valves 1 to 14 Pass tape line 15 to 18. For safe operation of the device, it is expedient to assign a control barrier 19 to 22 to each of the ribbon lines 10 to 18 in order to be able to determine whether the printed product 6 to 9 requested individually for each of the feeders 1 to 4 is also fed to the collecting line 5.

Zwischen diesen liegen die einzelnen individuell hergestellten Druckproduktpakete 48 bis 51.Noses or rails 24 to 31 are located on the collecting line 5 to form individual chamber sections 48 to 56, which receive the individual printed products during the circulation of the collecting line 5 in order to generate the individual printed product packages. The lugs or rails 24 to 31 have addresses or codes 24 'to 31'. The individual, individually produced printed product packages 48 to 51 lie between these.

Vorzugsweise entspricht die Anzahl der Zeitglieder mindestens der Anzahl der obenliegenden Kammerabschnitte 48 bis 51.According to the control of feeder 1 to 4 or valves 11 to 14, any combination of printed products 6 to 9 can be put together in each comb section 48 to 56. At the end of the collecting line 5 there is indicated a strip line 37 arranged approximately at right angles to the latter, through which the printed product packages 33 to 36 can be fed in the direction of the arrow 38 to a film device or film pockets 39. The foil bags 39 are unwound from a supply roll 40 and, after receiving one of the printed product packages 33 to 36, are fed to a pair of cutting cylinders and welded immediately. In the computer 10 indicated schematically here, memory areas 43, 44 are provided for receiving the printed product distributor address sequence and the individual insert key for each individual recipient, and the computer 10 also has a number of timers, which are indicated at 46. The number of timing elements preferably corresponds to at least the number of upper chamber sections 48 to 51.

With the device described above, it is thus possible that the computer 10 with the help of a Collection street 5 arranged reader 45 which identifies the individual chamber sections 48 to 56 and by means of the stored printed product distributor address and the insert key for each address and the insert key for each address in each case in a specific chamber section 48 to 56 by corresponding control of the valves 11 to 14 the desired individual printed product package (33 to 36).

With the help of a further reader 47, when the coded chamber sections 48 to 56 pass, it can be determined when the last printed product, here the printed product 9, leaves the collecting line. With the help of the timing elements, it can also be determined at which point in time the individual valves 11 to 14 must be activated in order to retain or feed a desired or an undesired printed product 6 to 9 into the assigned chamber sections 48 to 56. The timing elements can also be used to determine when a certain, i.e. H. already individually produced printed product package 33 to 36 occurs on the film pocket or in this (39), after which the address is printed or applied with the aid of the addressing device 41 for which the individually composed printed product package is intended. If necessary, the printed product package itself can also be addressed if no wrapping is desired. By using so-called accordion-like memory structures, as described in the earlier application PB 3441 and PB 3442 by the same applicant, it is also possible for a larger number of printed products, taking into account the criteria described and explained above, into an open printed product, preferably in a V-shaped open newspaper can be run individually, after which the newspaper itself can be addressed.
