In LUEGER, Gesamtlexikon der Technik, roro edition 1972, volume 37, page 511, it is stated that the installations in drying drums have the purpose of mixing the material and distributing it in small parts evenly over the drum cross-section,
Although here - in contrast to this literature reference⁻ the flame area is to be kept free of trickle materials, these explanations may facilitate a rough classification of the internals.

According to the statement given there, a distinction is made between lifting vane internals, simplex internals, cross internals and quadrant internals. Of the internals, which become more complex in the order of their enumeration, for the group of "coarse-grained or pulpy materials" - in which the aggregates to be processed or the mix to be processed are to be classified - lifting blades, ie the simplest form of internals, are primarily suitable.
The selected cross section of the lifting blades, e.g. B. semicircular channels, isosceles or isosceles, radially directed 90 ° angle profiles or equally directed, but having a larger angle than 90 ° profiles - also U-profiles whose modification as trapezoidal profiles can be addressed may vary from case to case.
However, all lifting vane internals of this type basically have the same discharge characteristics.

Spalte 2, Zeilen 39 - 55).
On the basis of the slope angle that is constant for each bulk material and on the basis of a constant peripheral speed, only the maximum possible filling volume between two subsequent installations and the shape of these installations can have a slight influence on the density of the discharge cascade that is formed.
Such an embodiment is known for example from DE-PS 26 17 839.
In such a rotary kiln, screw flights are provided in the feed area running parallel to the drum casing, which have overlapping boundaries, while the later built-in fittings, which have an approximately trapezoidal shape and which, viewed in the direction of rotation of the rotary kiln, have a relatively wide increase in the material that extends beyond the first quadrant , and thus enable good heat transfer as well as a large surface area for the addition of the dispersed binder.
Due to the profiles of the mixing area connecting the internals, the drum cross section is kept free of more or less controlled ejection of good particles, so that in this area of the drum there is a practically undisturbed flow of heating gas, which on the one hand allows the mineral goods to be brought together in a controlled manner and on the other hand enriches them of the gas flow with rock particles that have not yet been completely enveloped (see column 2, lines 39-55).

EP-A 81 1075 71.2, page 5, shows a diagram of the discharge behavior of the goods in a drum cross section equipped with angle profiles, which is to be regarded as the basis of the prior art.
There is no serious change if the free legs of the angles are angled briefly in the direction of the drum wall as a "trapezoid".

In summary, it should be noted that the z. The internals currently used essentially have trapezoids or trapezoidal shapes, the leg located in the direction of rotation of the drum not being connected to the wall, but rather leaving an inlet or outlet opening for the material to be heated.

In these conventional installations, a small part of the material falls through the flame area and prevents the flame from being burned out in accordance with environmental regulations and also pollutes the exhaust gas flow with entrained fines from the passage area.

Taking this into account, it is the object of the invention to design a method for keeping the flame area free from falling bulk material in a cylindrical rotary tube furnace, and the arrangement and design of lifting blades in a directly fired, cylindrical rotary tube furnace for keeping a coaxially directed flame area free.

The solution according to the invention for the method provides that the bulk material in the area of the fourth and first quadrants is picked up over the scooping edge of each lifting vane, while avoiding complete filling and reducing the inlet cross-section by a baffle which engages in it, and that in the case of others Rotation of the rotary kiln in the direction of the outlet opening tion of the lifting blades by the chicane, initially no emptying of the lifting blade contents takes place until the II. quadrant of the rotary kiln is reached, while approximately at the beginning of III.
Quadrants of the bulk material occur with a delay on the rear wall of the leading lifting vane, which is each provided with a groove-shaped indentation, which takes up the remaining volume of the previous lifting vane and prevents the spray grain development and in the further decline down to the fourth quadrant, approximately coaxially with the radius of the lifting vane boundary , emptied.

The restriction of the degree of bulk filling of the lifting vane, which is caused by the chicane, ensures that the material is evenly picked up and that the bulk material within the heated lifting vane is more mobile. In connection with this, there is an increase in heat transfer by movement, namely by exchanging the material with the contact surfaces of the lifting blades. Until the second drum quadrant is reached, there is initially no emptying of the blades - at least not to a considerable extent - and only when the goods enter the III. Quadrants use the outlet delayed by the intended chicane, which is received by the trough-shaped bulge of the rear wall of the leading lifting blade, whereby, due to the shape this bulge prevents spray grain development.

For a further explanation, reference is made directly to the inventive features and it is found that this clarifies in conjunction with the explanation fully meets the requirements of the task set.

Furthermore, the arrangement and design of lifting blades according to the definition given at the beginning is dealt with, the aim of which is to keep a coaxially directed flame region free from falling bulk material.

The solution to this second problem according to the invention provides that each lifting vane with its rear wall attached to the inner circumference of the drum wall, starting from the tangent to the fastening line, is angled 10-20 ° and pointing in the direction of rotation, 10-20 ° and about two Third of the remaining height is bent back at approximately the same angle, and the two mutually directed folding planes form a channel,
that the rear wall is then angled by approximately 90 ° with a width of more than 50% based on its development length, in this case forming the base of the lifting blade,
that the bottom is transferred into a further section which is angled upward by approximately 135 ° and which forms the scooping edge in its upper edge boundary, this being angled back to approximately 120 °, and that between the perpendicular to the line of attachment of the rear wall of the lifting vane to the rotary kiln and the perpendicular to the line of the scoop formed at a distance of about a third, measured from the scoop, a backward baffle reducing the passage cross-section for the bulk material is arranged.

The formation of the lifting vane wall in the context of a uniform process, which includes the rear wall with a channel or bulge, the adjoining floor, which leads into an upwardly angled section and which forms a scooping edge in its upper edge, slightly angled back, allows one rational prefabrication of these internals.

The importance of the chicane arranged within the lifting vane boundary was already discussed when the method was dealt with, this chicane having any embodiment. Thus it can be provided that the outlet baffle is an isosceles or isosceles angular profile with its legs rising up the inner circumference, or has another suitable cross section.

From the multitude of possible lifting vane arrangements within the rotary kiln, it should only be pointed out that the lifting vanes are, for example, staggered and delimited on both sides by cover plates, or that these are arranged in a row in each case with a cover plate that closes at the end.

Of course, the lifting blades can be adapted to the requirements of the process in a wide range.

The method according to the invention, as well as the arrangement and design of the lifting blades are explained for example by the accompanying drawings.
  • Figure 1 shows a partial section through the quadrants II and III of a right-handed rotary kiln.
  • FIGS. 2 and 3 show two exemplary embodiments from the large number of possible arrangements of the lifting blades in the rotary kiln.

The rotary kiln 1 is equipped over the area of its circumference and its functional length either with staggered lifting blades 3 or provided with lifting blades 3 arranged in a row and gap on a gap (Figures 2 and 3).

In the first case (FIG. 2), the lifting blades 3 are closed at the end of the inclined rotary kiln 1 by a cover plate 1.1, while in the second case (FIG. 3) the lifting blades 3 are arranged in rows, each lifting blade 3 being closed at both ends by a cover plate 1.1 .

In the lifting vanes 3, a baffle 4 reducing the filling volume of the lifting vanes 3 is arranged at an approximate distance of a third of the radian dimension of their circumferential extent 3.6, measured from the entry side backwards, which likewise retards the emptying speed of the bulk material 5 out of the lifting vanes 3.

The cross-section of the lifting blades 3 is due to the shape of the rear wall 3.1, consisting of the sections 3.11 and 3.12 forming the rearward open channel 3.2, the adjoining base 3.3, its angled section 3.4 and the delimiting region which forms the scooping edge 3.5 , certainly.

Quadrants of the rotary kiln 1, a discharge of the material 5 via the scooping edge 3.5 takes place to a limited extent parallel to the drum periphery, while approximately at the beginning of III. Quadrant of the bulk material 5 occurs with a delay on the rear wall 3.1 of the leading lifting blade 3 and is initially received here by the groove-shaped indentation 3.2. This leading lifting vane 3 thus takes up the remaining volume of the trailing lifting vane 3 in its trough-shaped indentation 3.2 and gives this in the further decline via the III. down to the fourth quadrant - roughly coaxial to the radius of the lift paddle boundary.

This ensures that the essentially coaxially directed flame region is kept free from grain falling through the flame, so that it is not carried away by the exhaust gases.

Thermal overload of the granules is also prevented.
