Abstract

To achieve a more compact structure and to simplify the mechanical assembly of a piston pump for a high-pressure cleaning appliance the pistons of which are driven by an internal combustion engine and which has a driving pulley (16) driven by the internal combustion engine (1) and on which the pistons are spring mounted, a pump housing (9) integral with the crankcase (6) of the internal combustion engine (1) receives the driving pulley (16) and at least a part of the piston. The drive shaft (7) projects from the crankcase (6) into the pump housing (9), carries the driving pulley (16) and is mounted in the transition region between the crankcase (6) and the pump housing (9).

Description

The invention relates to a piston pump for a high-pressure cleaning device with an internal combustion engine as the drive for the piston or pistons and with a drive disk driven by the internal combustion engine, against which the pistons resiliently rest.

High-pressure cleaning systems are known which are driven by a gasoline or diesel engine. In these known devices, a high-pressure pump is usually driven by the internal combustion engine via a belt drive. The power transmission from the internal combustion engine to the high-pressure pump via a belt drive not only requires a lot of space, it also results in performance losses and susceptibility to malfunctions, which are undesirable. Such a device is heavy, complicated in structure and prone to failure.

In contrast, it has already been proposed to have the output shaft of the internal combustion engine protrude directly into the housing of the high-pressure pump and on this shaft projecting into the pump housing to arrange a swash plate for driving the axial piston. The pump housing and internal combustion engine are kept at a distance from each other by spacers, so that a pulley can be arranged on the motor shaft between the pump housing and internal combustion engine and driven by the auxiliary units (P 37 09 391.6-15).

It is an object of the invention to provide a piston pump of the type described in the introduction which is more compact and can therefore be handled more easily and which is also less complicated in mechanical construction than known piston pumps with an internal combustion engine drive.

This object is achieved according to the invention in a piston pump of the type described in the introduction in that a pump housing is formed on the crankshaft housing of the internal combustion engine, which receives the drive disk and at least some of the pistons, that the motor shaft protrudes from the crankcase into the pump housing and carries the drive disk and that the motor shaft is mounted in the transition area from the crankcase into the pump housing.

Such a structure makes it possible to move the pump housing and internal combustion engine particularly close together and thus to achieve a compact structure. Another advantage is the fact that only a single bearing is required for the motor shaft.

It is particularly advantageous if the crankcase comprises two half-shells sealed against one another and if the pump housing is molded onto one of these half-shells.

In a particularly preferred embodiment, in particular in an axial piston pump, it is provided that the motor shaft is mounted in the transition from the crankcase to the pump housing by means of an angular contact ball bearing. Such an angular contact ball bearing can absorb both axially directed and radially directed forces, so that the necessary force absorption is provided in this bearing area with a single ball bearing, e.g. the absorption for radial forces for the crankshaft and the absorption of axial forces for the swash plate. This results in a further design simplification, since the double function of an angular contact ball bearing eliminates the need for separate bearings that are otherwise necessary to absorb axial and radial forces.

In a preferred embodiment it is provided that the interior of the crankcase communicates with the interior of the pump housing, so that the oil filling of the crankcase also fills the pump housing. The construction is considerably simplified in that the oil filling, which is anyway necessary for lubrication in the crankcase of the internal combustion engine, can simultaneously be used to move the pump parts in the pump chamber to lubricate the house. You can therefore get by with a single oil filling for both sub-assemblies. Seals are saved, and there is also the advantage during operation that when changing the oil, this oil change simultaneously detects both the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine and the moving parts of the piston pump.

The following description of a preferred embodiment of the invention serves in conjunction with the drawing for a more detailed explanation. The drawing shows a partial side view, partially broken away, of an axial piston pump driven by an internal combustion engine.

The invention is described below using the example of an axial piston pump operating as a swash plate pump, in which case the drive plate is a swash plate. However, the invention could also be used in a radial piston machine in which, for example, an eccentrically mounted disk or an eccentric ring is used as the drive disk, which exerts an oscillating movement on radially arranged pistons when the motor shaft rotates in the radial direction. In the context of the present invention, the term “drive disk” is therefore intended to refer both to axial drive elements, that is to say, for example, swash plates, and to radial drive elements, for example rings or disks that are eccentrically mounted on the motor shaft.

The motor pump unit shown in the drawing comprises an internal combustion engine 1, which is indicated only schematically in the drawing, and an axial piston pump 2 for conveying a high-pressure cleaning fluid.

The internal combustion engine itself is located in a housing, which consists of two half-shells 3 and 4, which by means of a seal 5 are sealed together. Inside the crankcase 6 formed by the two half-shells 3 and 4 there is a crankshaft 7 in a manner known per se, the extension 8 of which protrudes from the crankcase 6 and projects into an essentially cylindrical pump housing 9 molded onto one of the two half-shells 3. In the transition area between the crankcase 6 and the pump housing 9, an angular contact ball bearing 10, which supports the crankshaft 7, is held on the half-shell 3 carrying the pump housing 9. The angular contact ball bearing 10, the ball raceways 11 and 12 of which is arranged obliquely to the axial direction in both rings 13 and 14 of the ball bearing, can absorb forces in the radial direction as well as forces in the axial direction by this arrangement of the ball raceways 11 and 12.

On the free end 15 of the crankshaft 17 projecting from the angular contact ball bearing 10, a swash plate 16 is non-rotatably fitted as a drive disk, on which a pressure plate 18 is supported so as to be freely rotatable via a ball bearing 17.

Die Kopfplatte 21 schließt damit das Pumpengehäuse 9 dicht ab.The swashplate itself is located completely inside the essentially cylindrical pump housing 9, which is open on the side opposite the half-shell 3. On this open end 19 of the pump housing 9, a pump head 20 is placed, of which only a part is shown in the drawing. The pump head 20 ends in a head plate 21, which rests against the open end 19 of the pump housing 9 in a sealed manner via a seal 22 and is fixed in this position by screws 23. The head plate 21 thus closes the pump housing 9 tightly.

In the pump head 20, a plurality of axial pistons 24 are mounted so as to be freely displaceable in the axial direction one end 25 is supported on the pressure plate 18. Each piston carries a spring plate 26, on which a helical spring 27 surrounding the axial piston 24 rests, the other end of which is supported on the head plate 21, so that the axial piston 24 is pushed resiliently against the pressure plate 18 in this way.

The axial piston 24 extends in a manner known per se sealed into a pump chamber 28 which is connected to a suction line 30 via a suction valve 29 and to a pressure line 32 via an outlet valve 31.

The crankcase 6 is sealed from the outside space by two ring seals 33 and 34, which surround the crankshaft 7 and in each case lie sealingly on one of the two half-shells 3 and 4. As a result, in the exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing, the pump housing 9, on the one hand, and the crankcase 6, on the other hand, are separated from one another and sealed from one another, so that separate oil fillings can be provided in these rooms for lubricating the moving parts.

In a modified exemplary embodiment, it would also be possible for the pump housing 9 and the crankcase 6 to be connected to one another in the area of the angular contact ball bearing 10 without a seal 33 from the pump housing and crankcase separate from each other so that the oil filling of the crankcase 6 also fills the pump housing 9. Filling does not necessarily mean that the crankcase and pump housing are completely filled with oil, but this will usually take a partial filling that is sufficient to lubricate the moving parts in both the crankcase and the pump housing sufficiently. In this embodiment, both the moving parts of the internal combustion engine and the moving parts of the pump can be lubricated with a single oil filling, so that an overall design simplification occurs.
