Description

  • The present invention relates to a section member system for making window and door frames, parti cularly of the sliding wing type.
  • As is known, sliding wing window and door frames substantially consist of a rigid frame to be applied to a fixed structure inside of which there are provided two or more sliding wings.
  • Prior art section members do not afford the possibility of easily combining a sliding wing frame with other types of window and door frames, such as fixed-span frames, tilting wings and the like.
  • Another drawback of prior art section members is that they do not afford the possibility of precisely arranging the window or door frame, so as to facilitate the sliding movement of the wings and completely take up the clearances between the sliding wings, which represents the main cause leading to a tightness lackness, with consequent leakages to the inside of the rooms and buildings.
  • Moreover, prior art section members are scarcely flexible in operation and a great number of different section members must be available in order to meet the assembling requirements.
  • The reference US-A-3 460 290 discloses a section member system having substantially the features of the pre-characterizing portion of the claim.
  • The GB-A-1 511 701 reference discloses a window movable frame which is guided on the rigid or fixed frame by a central simple hook member.
  • Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned drawbacks, by providing a section member system for making window and door frames, particularly of the sliding wing type, which affords the possibility of making perfectly guided broad span window and door frames, without the use of further reinforcement elements, and which the tilting and twisting-bending stresses on the movable frame of the window frame are perfectly absorbed.
  • A further object of the present invention is to provide such a section member system the section members of which can be quickly and easily assembled to make a broad range of window types, included the so-called roll blind window.
  • According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned task and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a section member system for making broad-span window and door frames, particularly of the sliding wing type, having the features of the characterizing part of the claim.
  • Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following detailed description of a preferred, though not exclusive, embodiment of a section member system for making window and door frames, particularly of the sliding type, which is illustrated, by way of an indicative but not limitative example, in the accompanying drawings, where:
    • Figures 1 to 6 show rigid frame cross-section members included in the section member system according to the invention;
    • Figures 7 and 8 schematically show rigid frame section members included in the subject section member system;
    • Figure 9 shows a wing bottom or lower cross-section member;
    • Figure 10 shows a wing upright section member;
    • Figure 11 shows an upright section member provided with an engagement leg;
    • Figure 12 shows a coupling upright section member;
    • Figure 13 shows a coupling upright section member having a gripping handle;
    • Figure 14 shows a fitting section member for combining with a sliding wing frame a fixed span frame;
    • Figure 15 shows an upright section member for a roll blind;
    • Figure 16 shows a spacer section member adapted to be applied to the section member shown in Figure 15;
    • Figure 17 shows a cross-sectional member for a blind box;
    • Figure 18 shows a section member for making the bottom and top portions of said box;
    • Figure 19 shows a flush covering section member;
    • Figure 20 shows a finishing section member;
    • Figure 21 shows a gasket;
    • Figure 22 schematically shows a window frame having two sliding wings and a roll blind;
    • Figure 23 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line XXIII-XXIII of figure 22;
    • Figure 24 shows another cross-sectional view taken along the line XXIV-XXIV of figure 22.
  • With reference to the above figures (in which the dashed lines represent the parts of the section members which will be exposed to view upon assembling) and, more specifically to Figure 1 to 6, there are herein shown a rigid frame cross-section member indicated respectively at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 which, at their middle portions, are provided with ridges or rails 10 adapted to operate as guiding elements for the movable window or door frame.
  • More specifically, the section member 1 is provided with an inner leg 11 and an outer leg 12 which, in practice, encompass the rail zone.
  • The section member 2, in turn, is provided with an inner leg 13 and, at the bottom, comprises seats 14 for coupling with other component elements
  • The section member 3 is provided with a box-like body 15, supporting the rails 10 and, at the bottom, it is provided, inwardly, with a coupling seat 16.
  • The section member 4, which is preferably used as a top cross-section member, is provided with a downwardly facing outer leg 18.
  • The section members 5 and 6, on the other hand, comprise three adjoining rails 10 in order to afford the possibility of making a three sliding wing window frame, and differ from one another by the fact that the section member 5 has a box-like body 20, whereas the section member 6 is provided with a flat center portion having coupling seats 21 formed both inwardly and outwardly.
  • Figure 7 shows a rigid frame upright section member, indicated generally at the refernce number 25 and provided, at its exposed central portion, with a lug 26 adapted to operate as an abutting element for the wing upright.
  • The section member 27 shown in Figure 8 is a further rigid frame upright section member to be used in combination with the section members 6 and 7, that is the section members including three guiding rails.
  • Figure 9 shows a wing cross-section member indicated at the reference number 30, which has a substantially H-shaped configuration, the bottom legs 31 being provided with seats 32 for receiving brush gaskets, adapted to provide a sliding tightness on the rails 10.
  • The cross-section member 30 engages with the upright section member consisting, for example, of the section member 35, shown in Figure 10, having a box-like center body, therefrom extend legs 37 for restraining a plate-like element and, from the opposite side, short legs 38 defining a seat 39 for receiving the gasket providing tightness on the upright lug 26.
  • The section member 40 shown in Figure 11 is construction-wise analogous to the section member 35, with the addition of gripping leg 41, longitudinally extending on said section member and providing a further gripping element for making sliding doors.
  • On the upright opposite to the coupling side of the rigid frame, there is provided a coupling upright 45, having a box-like body 46 and a coupling leg 47, which is adapted to connect the two section members of the wings arranged on the same window or door frame; near the leg 47 there is arranged a seat 48 for housing a brush gasket, to provide tightness at the wing coupling region.
  • Figure 13 shows a coupling section member 50 provided with a gripping handle 51.
  • Figure 14 shows a coupling section member 55, for coupling with the rigid frame section members in order to form, for example, a fixed top span; to that end it is provided with a box-like body 56 and, at the top, with engaging seats 57 for engaging with plate-like elements through glass restraining elements and the like.
  • The section members according to the present invention afford the,possibility of applying roll blind assemblies and, to that end, there is provided a roll blind upright section member 60, shown in Figure 15, having a substantially L-shaped configuration, with a seat 61 for coupling with the roll blind and a recess 62 operating as a fixed frame upright.
  • In order to apply the upright section member 60, there is provided a spacer section member 65, shown in Figure 16, coupled to the free end portion of the section member 60.
  • For applying the roll blind box there is provided a roll blind cross-section member, indicated at 70 in Figure 17, which is provided with a flat portion 71 to be coupled to the rigid frame cross-section member and which, at one end thereof, has a coupling curved portion 72 to be arranged at the inlet region of the roll blind.
  • The roll blind box can be made by using roll blind box section members 75, shown in Figure 18, which, at the bottom, are coupled to the section member 70 and, at the top, are directly coupled to the rigid structure by means of coupling brackets or the like elements; the section members 75 have respective housing seats 76 to restrain a front plate-like element 77 which, in practice, forms the covering of the roll blind box.
  • In order to aesthetically finish the assembly, there is provided a flush-covering section member 80, shown in Figure 19, which comprises a flat portion 81 therefrom a snap coupling element 82 extends, which can be snap connected to the section members so as to cover the joining regions between two section members.
  • Figure 20 shows a section member 90 adapted to operate as a coupling element for the above disclosed section members, so as to provide the system with very flexible characteristics.
  • The section member 90 is provided with two box- like bodies 91 and 92 adjoining one another and it further comprises on its outside surface coupling legs.
  • Figure 21 shows a gasket 95 provided for being engaged in the wing section members, in order to restrain the plate-like element which may consist of a glass element, a double-glass element and the like.
  • With reference to Figures 22 to 24 there is schematically shown herein the procedure for making a window or door frame having two sliding wings, there being moreover provided a roll blind assembly and related roll blind box; in this connection it should be apparent that a lot of different window and door frames can be made by using the subject section member system since the section members thereinabove disclosed can be coupled to fixed frames, tilting frames and the like.
