Claims (13)

  1. Spray gun with a grip (2; 302; 402), a trigger (3) for gun actuation mounted rotatably near its upper end and extending only along the upper portion of the grip, and a locking element (9; 409) which is arranged at the lower end of the trigger (3) and can be shifted from a release position outside the path of the lower end of the trigger (3) into a locking position in this path, characterised in that a projection (8; 108; 208; 308; 408) mounted on the grip (2; 302; 402) engages beneath the trigger (3) and the locking element (9; 409) is housed in this projection and that the locking element (9; 409) comprises a bolt which is axially slidable by actuation from the outside and which extends approximately in the longitudinal direction of the grip (2; 302; 402).
  2. Spray gun according to claim 1, characterised in that the locking element (9; 409) is biassed by a spring (12) in the direction of the locking position.
  3. Spray gun according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the projection is designed as a removable grip insert (8; 108; 208; 308; 408).
  4. Spray gun according to any of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the trigger (3) carries at the lower end a rearwardly oriented extension (13) which is engaged by the locking element (9; 409).
  5. Spray gun according to any of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the locking element (409) can be shifted by an actuating element (19) near the upper end of the grip (402).
  6. Spray gun according to claim 5, characterised in that the actuating element (19) acts via an actuating rod (32), which is axially displaceable in the grip (402), on a pressure surface (31) connected to the locking element (409).
  7. Spray gun according to any of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the locking element (9) is displaceable by an actuating element (11; 111; 19; 308) near the lower end of the grip (2; 302).
  8. Spray gun according to any of claims 5 to 7, characterised in that the actuating element (11; 111) is an axially movable knob outside the grip (2; 302), which knob is coupled to the locking element (9).
  9. Spray gun according to claim 8, characterised in that the actuating element (111) is also rotatable and, in at least one predetermined rotational angular position, capable of being supported in an axial position corresponding to the release position of the locking element (9).
  10. Spray gun according to any of claims 5 to 8, characterised in that the actuating element (19) is a slide which is movable transversely to the gun centre plane and which can be partially retracted from the grip (2; 402) in both directions and comprises a cam (18) for abutment of the locking element or of a component (17; 32) coupled thereto.
  11. Spray gun according to claim 10, characterised in that the cam (18) is formed by two grooves (20, 21) of different depth, which are connected to each other by two ramps (22, 23) of opposite inclination.
  12. Spray gun according to claims 3 and 7, characterised in that the actuating element is formed by the grip insert (308) which is movable in the longitudinal direction of the gun against the force of a spring (26) and moves the locking element (9) by means of a cam (30).
  13. Spray gun according to claim 12, characterised in that the cam (3) is rigidly connected to the displaceable grip insert (308) and acts on a transverse pin (29) connected to the locking element (9).
