Description

The invention relates to a press punch of the type specified in the preamble of the appended claim 1. Such press punches are e.g. used in pliers for crimping cable lugs on electrical conductors, and such pliers are e.g. in US-A-4,199,972 or US-A-4,381,661 (Fig. 6,7,9,13). The oblique engaging edges on the individual ribs in both press punches together form a "tunnel" into which the object to be processed can be introduced, the "tunnel" gradually coming together as the two punches approach one another, which takes place when the relevant press arrangement is actuated constricts and effectively compresses the inserted object.

In principle, the back of the press punch concerned can e.g. have the shape of a flat surface and the support member of the press arrangement (e.g. the jaw support of a cable lug pliers or the like) can be arranged, a press punch designed in this way e.g. hold by means of pressure screws attacking from the side.

However, inter alia for the purpose of easy replacement of the press punches, the rear side thereof is often designed according to FIG. 2 in US Pat. No. 4,199,972 with a comb projecting in the opposite direction to the ribs on the front side, which is inserted into a corresponding slot in the carrier member and is fixed or pivotable can be recorded in it.

The production of press punches of the type mentioned is expensive, because the individual ribs must e.g. be machined from solid material using electroerosive machining. The comb on the back, which to a certain extent forms a further rib, but which extends in the opposite direction, increases the volume of the material block required (e.g. steel block) from which to start.

The present invention has for its object to provide press punches of the type mentioned, which can be manufactured in a simple, and consequently also cheaper way, and which require less material, in particular in the version with a back-end comb. The object is achieved by means of press punches which have the features contained in the characterizing part of the attached patent claim 1, advantageous further developments being mentioned in the attached subclaims.

One jaw 31, 32 according to FIG. 4 is rigidly arranged in the jaw carriers 11, 12 with the aid of threaded bolts 11a, 12a. When the handle 21 is actuated in the direction of the arrow P 1, the jaw support 11 moves in the direction of the arrow P 2 and the ribs on one of the jaws 31, 32 penetrate into the spaces between the ribs on the other jaw.

The jaws 21, 22 in the first embodiment according to FIGS. 2 and 3 consist of a large number of identical (ie also equally thick) plate units or plate elements A and a large number of plate-shaped spacer elements D (FIG. 3). Each plate element A is delimited by a straight rear edge 20 'and by a front edge 20 which is tapered relative to the rear edge 20'. Each spacer element D has in its lower part in Fig. 3 the same shape as a plate element A including a straight rear edge 20˝, while in the upper part with a roof-shaped edge 24 the shape of two adjacent, oppositely oriented plate units A or their respective front edges 20 copied. In Fig. 3, a spacer D is shown attached to a plate unit A. The thickness t 'of the spacer elements D is significantly smaller than the thickness t of the plate units A. The purpose of the spacer elements D is to facilitate the penetration of the plate units A of the opposite jaw into the spaces between the plate units A of the own jaw, and the thickness t' can be too for this purpose, for example 0.1-0.3mm.

It can be seen that the spacer elements D are not absolutely necessary on the one hand (for example in the case of very precisely machined plate units A) and on the other hand that they also have a different shape (included in the scope shown in FIG. 3) and, finally, that a spacer element can also be arranged on either side of a plate element, as shown in FIG. 2 at a single point on the jaw 22.

By means of an out-of-round pin member 23 which passes through appropriately designed openings 23 'in all plate elements A and all spacer elements D, these elements are rigidly combined to form a jaw 21, 22. After lining up all the plate elements A and spacer elements D such that the bevelled front edges 20 run in the opposite direction in each jaw in the case of adjacent plate elements A, the rear edges 20 'and 20' 'form a uniform, flat rear surface 200 of the entire jaw in each jaw which, for example can rest against a flat contact surface in a corresponding recess in a support member (jaw support).

The jaws 31, 32 already mentioned according to FIGS. 4 and 5 consist partly, namely in each case in their end regions, of plate elements AA which correspond to the plate elements A according to FIGS. 2 and 3 (with the only difference that they have no opening 23) and on the other hand, namely in its central region, of plate elements B which are delimited at the front end by an oblique front edge 20, but instead of the straight rear edge 20 'on the rear side have a broken rear edge 25 which delimits a parallelepipedic extension 30, which is closed by a terminating edge K and forms part of a protruding comb 30A in the assembled jaw 31, 32. The plate elements AA are assigned distance elements DD which correspond to the distance elements D, and the plate units B are assigned distance elements D 'which differ from the distance elements DD only by the presence distinguish an extension 30 ', which corresponds to the extension 30 in the plate units B. In Fig. 5, a spacer element D 'is shown separately from a plate element B, with the plate element B by a dashed line 24' the course of the right half of the front edge 24 of an adjacent spacer element D 'in the figure is indicated. In the foothills 30 and 30 'round openings 30B are arranged, which form a continuous opening for the threaded bolts 11a, 12a (Fig. 1) after the assembly of the jaw 31, 32. The plate units AA, B and the spacer elements DD, D 'are rigidly joined by spot welds at the points Z each jaw 31, 32. As already mentioned in the introduction, the comb 30A serves to insert the relevant jaw into a corresponding gap in the jaw carrier, which in the present case is a rigid assembly. It is obvious that the comb 30A can also extend along the entire length of the jaw, ie in other words that the end regions consisting of the elements AA and DD can be omitted.

The jaws 41, 42 according to FIGS. 6 and 7 each consist of two different plate elements E and F which alternate with one another.

A).The plate elements E have an arrow-shaped broken front edge 40 with a tip 40A, and the plate elements F have a V-shaped indentation with a front edge 40A forming a tip 40'A, both front edges 40, 40 'having a congruent shape. In each case, opposite a plate element E in one jaw, there is a plate element F in the other jaw, and the plate elements E are thicker than the plate elements F (approximately to the extent - and for the same purpose - like a plate element A plus a spacer element D thicker are just a plate element A).

The tips 40A and 40'A of the closely arranged elements E and F are at exactly the same height and form an uninterrupted, straight edge in the assembled jaw. Just for the sake of clarity with respect to FIG. 7, a plate element is designated as Fa in FIG. 6; it does not differ in any way from the plate elements F. From FIG. 7 it can be seen that the jaws 41, 42 are inserted into their jaw carriers in such a way that, compared to the thicker plate elements E in one jaw, the thinner plate elements F come to rest in the other jaw . The individual plate elements E, F are in this case by means of round rivets 51 ', 51˝, 52', 52˝, which pass through openings in the longitudinal direction of the jaws 41 ', 41˝, 42', 42˝, firmly joined together. Between the openings 41 ', 41˝ and 42', 42˝ a transverse bore 53, 53 'is arranged for a pin with the help of which the jaws in a manner known per se (for example as in Fig. 1 in US-A-4,199,972 shown) can be pivotally anchored in a jaw carrier. The narrow end parts F 'of the plate elements F together with the equally narrow plate elements E in the assembled jaw 41, 42 form a comb 50A corresponding to the comb 30A in FIG.

The angle .alpha. Or .alpha. ', Which two engagement edges 20 lying next to one another in a jaw include in the embodiments according to FIGS. 2-5, or the two parts of a broken engagement edge 40, 40' in the embodiment according to FIGS. 6 and 7, is conventionally 90 °. According to the invention, this angle can advantageously be chosen to be somewhat smaller than 90 ° and, for example, have the value of 80 ° or 70 °. It has been found in practice that a cable lug, which is pressed with jaws of the type here, in which all angles between the individual engagement surfaces or edges are equal to 90 °, after leaving the pliers changes from the desired square cross-section to a rhombic cross-section, in which the included angle is greater than 90 ° in the two corners located on the diagonal in the pressing direction, and in the two included angles at the corners located transversely to the pressing direction is less than 90 °. By taking this circumstance into account in advance by the measure mentioned above, the end result is a cross section which is very close to the desired square shape.

In den Fig. 8 und 9 sind zwei weitere Ausführungsformen erfindungsgemässer Stanzenpaare von der im Zusammenhang mit Fig. 6 und 7 beschriebenen Art, d.h. mit Platten vom E-Typ und vom F-Typ, dargestellt.8 and 9 show two further embodiments of punch pairs according to the invention of the type described in connection with FIGS. 6 and 7, i.e. with plates of the E type and of the F type.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 8, the plates of the E or E ′ type also have a somewhat narrower extension part 130 ′, and furthermore, in the punch 141 shown in the drawing, some (three in FIG. 8) are attached to one ( in Fig. 8 the front) end-to-end plates, regardless of the respective type (E 'or F or F'), at the end edges K '' of their extension parts 130, 130 'towards the other end (in from plate to Plate of decreasing mass) rounded so that the comb 130A formed when all the plates are lined up at the relevant end instead of a sharp corner (such as G 'at the opposite end of the comb) has an amply rounded corner G, both for assembly and also is advantageous for the function. ("Rounding at the end edge" is understood to mean a rounding in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the plate in question)
The remaining plates E ', F' have increasing higher (and closed with a somewhat oblique end edge K '') extension parts 130, so that a comb 130A is formed, which goes from the rounded corner G in a straight line quickly to the sharp corner G 'increases, ie has a gradually increasing height H.

The individual plates E ', F' are connected here by means of two round rivets 151 ', 151' 'or 152', 152 '' running parallel and at a distance from each other and in the area between the respective rivet pairs 151 ', 151' 'or 152 ', 152' ', each punch 141, 142 - as in the embodiment according to FIG. 6 - is provided with a transverse bore 153, 153' for a fastening bolt such as 11a, 12a according to FIG. 1.

In the case of the lower punch 142 in FIG. 8, only the outermost plate, but here at both ends, has an extension part 130 'rounded at the end edge, and all the plates in between have extension parts 130, 130' of the same height, so that a comb 130A 'in essentially the same form as in Fig. 4, but with slightly rounded corners G' 'at both ends.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 9, in the punches 141 ', 142' the plates of both types E '', F '' have no run-out parts, i.e. they correspond in principle to the design according to FIG. 2, and are connected to one another by means of a single round rivet 151, but are then permanently connected as a whole to a support block 30B or 30B ', which forms the comb (e.g. in the case of L laser welded). The carrier blocks 30B, 30B 'have the same shape as the comb parts 130A, 130A' in the embodiment according to FIG. 8, with a sufficiently rounded corner M and a height H 'increasing to a sharp corner M', or with two rounded corners Corners M '' and constant height. They are also provided with the same, and serving the same purpose transverse bores 153, 153 '.
