Definitions
- the invention relates to an internal floating blanket for covering and sealing the surface of a liquid in a container having a roof with the aid of a flexible, thin-walled membrane lying on the liquid and with at least one float and an edge-side seal which lies against the container wall.
- German Patent No. 632 472 an internal floating blanket for volatile liquids, the float being ring-shaped and furthermore, balls floating on the liquid are provided as a seal between the float and the container wall.
- the membrane of this known indoor floating blanket should consist of aluminum foil, cellulose, thin, resistant metal, celluloid, liquid-tight cloth or the like, and it can also be reinforced by a wire mesh.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of designing an internal floating blanket of the type mentioned so that it not only reliably and reliably withstands the mechanical and hydraulic loads caused by the storage medium and the gas pressures which may occur, but also the best possible sealing effect and volume utilization with reasonable effort of the container space and thus a low emission of product vapors.
- the invention provides that the dimensions and / or the elasticity of the membrane are oversized to such an extent that the membrane can be deformed in a hood-like manner in one or both vertical directions relative to the plane of its fastening points on the float or on the seal, that at least one pressure relief valve is assigned to the membrane and that at least one annularly closed, gas-tightly connected edge element is provided near the container wall and is immersed in the liquid.
- the inner swimming blanket has a membrane made of one single or more layers of existing separation layer, the length and width or diameter of which are significantly oversized compared to the corresponding dimensions of the liquid surface.
- the membrane bulges due to the gas pressure above the liquid, without gases or vapors being able to escape at this point in time. They are held back by the membrane, and only when the gas pressure exceeds a predetermined level does a safety valve assigned to the membrane, designed as a pressure relief valve, open, so that the membrane does not suffer any damage.
- the membrane can completely detach from the surface of the liquid and hover over it until the opening pressure is reached.
- the membrane dips itself into the liquid on the side of the container itself or with edge elements connected to it in a gastight manner near the container wall and ensures a secure seal there.
- the membrane When emptying the container, the membrane can lay down over a large area on the container base or on devices located there. This is also only possible because the membrane is oversized. When emptying, the dimensioning of the membrane brings about an optimal and easy-to-use volume utilization of the container.
- the material of the membrane is adapted to the properties of the liquid to be covered or the gases and vapors to be sealed, as well as to the mechanical requirements resulting therefrom and can consist of a single layer or in multiple layers be made up of layers with different properties.
- An inner floating cover 1 for covering and sealing the surface 2 of a liquid 16 in a container 4 having a roof 3 comprises at least one float 5, a flexible thin-walled membrane 6 lying on the liquid and a seal 11 on the edge, which bears against the container wall 7 .
- the roof 3 is usually slightly arched and has at least one vent 8.
- the float 5 consists of a frame 9 with a plurality of floating bodies 10, which are combined to form an annular polygon.
- the straight, barrel-shaped and preferably with their ends at a small distance from each other floating bodies 1o cross-sectionally U-shaped also straight support profiles 9a are fastened, for example with the aid of belts 9b.
- the support profiles 9a rest with their ends 9c at an angle to one another or are fastened to one another and have clamping strips 9d for fastening the membrane 6.
- a seal 11 is provided on the container wall side, which bridges an annular gap 12 between the frame 9 and the container wall 7 with a sealing apron 12a and bears against the container wall 7 with a sealing element 13, as can be seen from FIG. 2.
- supports or feet 14 are provided on the frame 9 and rest on the container bottom 15 when a lower, minimal level according to the dashed lines in FIG. 1 is reached. Likewise, an upper, maximum achievable level is shown in FIG. 1 with dashed lines.
- the dimensions and / or the elasticity of the membrane 6 is significantly oversized, so that the membrane 6 from the level 17 of its fastening points (terminal block 9d) on the float 5 or the frame 9 (Fig. 2) or in individual cases by a contact element 18 of the seal 11 on the container wall 7 as shown in FIG. 1 can bulge in one or both vertical directions.
- At least one pressure relief valve 19 is assigned to the membrane 6 and becomes effective, for example, when gases 20 between the membrane 6 and the liquid 16 or above the surface 2 of the liquid 16 collect and lead to an increased pressure.
- the membrane 6 is first lifted off the surface 2 of the liquid 16 and assumes a preselected shape in accordance with its dimensions. This shape is expediently chosen so that the membrane also after Reaching the maximum liquid level according to the dashed lines at the top in FIG. 2 does not strike the roof 3 of the container 4.
- the membrane 6 can, however, bulge out under the roof 3 in the form of a hood or a cap, before the pressure relief valve 19 is activated.
- At least one pressure relief valve 19 is expediently arranged in the center of the membrane 6 and is lifted out of the liquid 16 by it.
- the opening pressure of the pressure relief valve 19 is expediently on the order of 1-2 mm water column.
- a pressure relief valve 19a consists of at least one tubular or tubular element 19b immersed vertically in the liquid 16, the one open end 19c of which is located above the surface 2 of the liquid 16 with a sufficient safety distance.
- the tubular or tubular element 19b At a distance H below the surface 2 of the liquid 16, the tubular or tubular element 19b has at least one opening 19d.
- a weight 19e or the like ensures that the pressure relief valve 19a assumes a vertical or hanging position in the normal operating state. If the membrane is now out of the inFig. 2a, the position lying on the liquid 16 lifts up (broken line in FIG. 1), the distance H decreases, and the pressure relief valve 19a only becomes effective when the opening 19d is above the upper area 2 of the liquid 16 reaches. Gases or vapors can now enter through the opening 19d into the interior of the tubular or tubular element 19b and exit at its free end 19c facing away from the weight 19e.
- the tubular or tubular element 19b penetrates the membrane 6 perpendicular to its plane and is held in this gas and pressure-tight.
- the pressure relief valve 19 or 19a acts hydraulically, i.e. due to its position relative to the surface 2 of the liquid 16.
- the pressure relief valve 19 according to FIG. 2 consists of an annular float 19f, in the centrally located passage opening 19g of which there is a droplet separator 19h.
- a valve ball 19i closes a valve opening 19j via the droplet separator 19h.
- the valve ball 19i is located in a cage 19k.
- the membrane 6 also includes at least one annularly closed edge element which is connected to it in a gastight manner and which is immersed in the liquid 16 near the container wall 7.
- This edge element ensures that the membrane 6 can form a hood for receiving a gas cushion, which edge element can be the seal 11, the float 5 or a submerged sealing part 13 of the seal 11.
- the submerged sealing part 13 can in principle also be part of the membrane 6 if it is made of a chemical there is highly resistant and weldable material, so that the attachment by means of clamping strips 9d can be omitted if the membrane apron 12 also includes the sealing apron 12a and the submerging sealing element 13.
- the membrane 6 is attached to the frame 9 together with the sealing skirt 12a of the seal 11 in a gas-tight manner. Only in the case of chemically highly resistant and weldable membrane materials with chemically resistant welded connections can the large area welded membrane 6 be guided up to the contact element 18 of the seal 11.
- the seal 11 also includes a plurality of spring elements 21, which can be U-shaped and connect the seal 11 to the float 5 or frame 9.
- At least one vacuum valve 22 is also located on the frame 9. It becomes effective when the frame 9 or float 5 rests with its supports or feet 14 on the tank bottom 15 and liquid located between the membrane 6 and the tank bottom 15 is still drawn off should. Air then flows through the vacuum valve 22 from the space above the membrane 6 into the space between the tank bottom 15 and the membrane 6, so that it can gradually lay down on the tank bottom 15, as shown in FIG. 1 below.
- the vacuum valve 22 preferably consists of a vertically standing valve basket 23 immersed in the liquid 16 with a central tube 23a and a valve ball 24 which falls down as the liquid sinks and thereby a valve opening opens.
- the membrane 6 consists of at least one layer which is tear-resistant, secure against being punctured and diffusion-tight and antistatic.
- the requirements for the membrane 6 can be very different, so that it may consist of at least one metal foil or a diffusion-tight plastic film which is provided on at least one side with a reinforcement layer.
- a special barrier film 25 which is resistant to hydrocarbon vapors and is diffusion-tight, is expedient for sealing and covering volatile hydrocarbons.
- Polyester, polyamide or polyvinyl alcohol are particularly suitable as materials for such a barrier film 25.
- these lines do not have sufficient mechanical strength and are mostly electrostatically chargeable.
- the membrane 6 In addition to a barrier film 25 made of polyester, polyamide or polyvinyl alcohol, the membrane 6 therefore has a fabric 26 on the upper side serving as antistatic puncture protection and an antistatic lower layer 27 on the underside. Both the fabric 26 and the underlayer 27 can be made of a reinforcing fabric with an antistatic Thermoplastic coating exist. This is shown schematically in FIG. 7.
- the individual layers, consisting of the barrier film 25, the polyethylene-coated fabric 26 and the antistatic underlayer 27, preferably lie loosely on top of one another, i.e. are not connected to one another over a large area. It is also provided that the length dimensions of the diffusion-tight barrier film 25 are larger than the length dimensions of the reinforcement or of the polyethylene-coated fabric 26. The forces which occur are therefore absorbed by the fabric 26, with the result that the sensitive barrier film 25 and its Lower layer 27 remain unloaded.
- a fabric 26 serving as reinforcement is located above the barrier film 25 and a further fabric 26 serving as reinforcement is arranged below the barrier film 25.
- the barrier film 25 is loosely between the two fabrics 26 and is therefore not burdened by forces, regardless of whether they act in the vertical direction upwards or downwards.
- the membrane 6 preferably consists of individual tracks 28 which are connected to one another along their edges 29, 30. If possible, this connection is made by welding or gluing. Provided The material properties of the foils, layers or fabrics do not allow welding or the resulting welded connections are not sufficiently chemically resistant and leakproof, flexible clamping and holding profiles serve as fasteners.
- two clamping and holding profiles 31, 32 are provided as the connecting element and accommodate between them the edges 29, 30 of the webs 28 that are angled away from the liquid.
- the clamping and holding profiles 31, 32 are fastened to one another with screws 33. With one leg 34 each, the clamping and holding profiles 31, 32 abut the edges 29, 30 of the webs 28 and with their other leg 35 they rest on the webs 28 on the top side.
- edges 29, 30 of one or the other layer of the webs 28 can be welded to one another, this is done additionally, this being e.g. can take place with the formation of a tubular, protruding bead 36.
- the edges of this fabric 26 can be welded to form beads.
- a clamping and holding profile 37 is U-shaped in cross-section and has legs 38 and at the ends of which support parts 39 project horizontally or slightly in an arc shape.
- floats 42 and 43 are arranged under the membrane 6 and partially lift them out of the liquid 16. This is expediently done especially in the area of the connection points 44 of the tracks 28, so that the connection points 44 are not exposed to the liquid.
- loop-shaped holding parts 45 can extend from it around the float 43.
- FIGS. 7 and 8 schematically show two tracks 28 each and connecting points 44 indicated between them and in each case on the outside.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an internal floating blanket for covering and sealing the surface of a liquid in a container having a roof with the aid of a flexible, thin-walled membrane lying on the liquid and with at least one float and an edge-side seal which lies against the container wall.
Indoor floating blankets of the type mentioned are known. For example, German Patent No. 632 472 an internal floating blanket for volatile liquids, the float being ring-shaped and furthermore, balls floating on the liquid are provided as a seal between the float and the container wall. The membrane of this known indoor floating blanket should consist of aluminum foil, cellulose, thin, resistant metal, celluloid, liquid-tight cloth or the like, and it can also be reinforced by a wire mesh.
On modern indoor swimming ceilings of the type mentioned different demands made. They should not only be inexpensive to manufacture, but also consist of extremely thin-walled, light and diffusion-proof membrane materials and still reliably seal large, flat surfaces of chemically aggressive liquids. The requirements of environmental protection also require that gases and vapors do not enter the atmosphere as released emissions or that they remain at least to a minimum.
The invention is therefore based on the object of designing an internal floating blanket of the type mentioned so that it not only reliably and reliably withstands the mechanical and hydraulic loads caused by the storage medium and the gas pressures which may occur, but also the best possible sealing effect and volume utilization with reasonable effort of the container space and thus a low emission of product vapors.
To achieve this object, the invention provides that the dimensions and / or the elasticity of the membrane are oversized to such an extent that the membrane can be deformed in a hood-like manner in one or both vertical directions relative to the plane of its fastening points on the float or on the seal, that at least one pressure relief valve is assigned to the membrane and that at least one annularly closed, gas-tightly connected edge element is provided near the container wall and is immersed in the liquid.
The inner swimming blanket has a membrane made of one single or more layers of existing separation layer, the length and width or diameter of which are significantly oversized compared to the corresponding dimensions of the liquid surface. In the event of gas formation, the membrane bulges due to the gas pressure above the liquid, without gases or vapors being able to escape at this point in time. They are held back by the membrane, and only when the gas pressure exceeds a predetermined level does a safety valve assigned to the membrane, designed as a pressure relief valve, open, so that the membrane does not suffer any damage. The membrane can completely detach from the surface of the liquid and hover over it until the opening pressure is reached. In order to avoid leakage losses here as well, the membrane dips itself into the liquid on the side of the container itself or with edge elements connected to it in a gastight manner near the container wall and ensures a secure seal there.
When emptying the container, the membrane can lay down over a large area on the container base or on devices located there. This is also only possible because the membrane is oversized. When emptying, the dimensioning of the membrane brings about an optimal and easy-to-use volume utilization of the container.
The material of the membrane is adapted to the properties of the liquid to be covered or the gases and vapors to be sealed, as well as to the mechanical requirements resulting therefrom and can consist of a single layer or in multiple layers be made up of layers with different properties.

An inner
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
Furthermore, a
Finally, supports or
The dimensions and / or the elasticity of the
Furthermore, at least one
At least one
According to the schematic illustration in FIG. 2a, a

The
Rahmen 9 verbinden. Finally, the
At least one
The
In addition to a
According to FIG. 8, a
In view of the size of the
According to FIG. 3, two clamping and holding
Insofar as the
Due to the U-shape of the clamping and holding
According to FIGS. 5 and 6, floats 42 and 43 are arranged under the
In order to fix the
Die beiden Figuren 7 und 8 zeigen schließlich schematisch je zwei Bahnen 28 und zwischen ihnen sowie jeweils aussen angedeutete Verbindungsstellen 44.Finally, the two FIGS. 7 and 8 schematically show two
The invention is not limited to the embodiments shown in the figures, but modifications are possible without deviating from the inventive concept.
