Definitions
- the invention relates to an extrusion tool for producing a drill blank with at least one internal, helically running flushing bore made of a plastic raw material made of hard metal or ceramic, with a nozzle which delimits a mold space and a mandrel arranged in its inlet area, which at least one in the outside of the nozzle longitudinal axis Bearing protruding, elastically deformable wire, wherein the inner wall of the nozzle is provided with at least one helical device in such a way that the raw material passing through the nozzle is twisted.
- the inner wall of the nozzle has at least one helical projection serving as a guide bar and extending in the longitudinal direction; This causes the raw material heated to the extrusion temperature - regardless of external factors such as the material flow speed - to be twisted as soon as it passes through the nozzle and that the drill blank emerging from the nozzle has at least one groove, corresponding to the number of projections the starting with relatively little processing effort, the later chip chambers of the drill can be manufactured. Since the raw material is fed to the extrusion tool in a plastic state, the twisted drill bit can be cut to the desired length by a cutting process.
- the mandrel of the extrusion tool is equipped with one or more wires made of an elastically deformable material in accordance with the number of flushing holes desired; This should be such that each wire adapts to the screwing motion of the raw material in the area of the nozzle with as little resistance to deformation as possible and in this way causes the formation of the helical flushing hole in the plastic raw material.
- Possible elastic wire materials are: copper, copper or bundle metal alloys, iron, iron alloys, light metals and light metal alloys using aluminum in particular;
- plastics such as polyamide has proven to be particularly advantageous, and also as a coating for otherwise metallic wires.
- the angle between the respective connecting lines can be 0 ° or 90 ° or else Accept the desired intermediate values.
- the spiral angle of the helical projection in the nozzle should be chosen somewhat larger than the spiral angle desired for the drill blank; usually the related oversize is on the order of 3 to 7 °.
- the disadvantage of the prior art in question is that the mandrel and accessories and the nozzle are only accessible after the removal of the extrusion tool from the associated holding structure and therefore a fine adjustment or readjustment of the extrusion tool is cumbersome and time-consuming.
- the invention has for its object to further develop the generic extrusion tool in such a way that the mutual assignment of the components that influence the formation of the drill blank to be produced can be changed with little effort, if necessary also during the extrusion process.
- the object is achieved by an extrusion tool which has the features of claim 1.
- the basic idea of the invention consists in a design of the extrusion tool, in which the nozzle and the mandrel can be held in different positions. This means the possibility, on the one hand, of designing and arranging the nozzle and the mandrel to be displaceable relative to one another and, on the other hand, of locking the two components mentioned in a desired mutual association; the subject of the invention should preferably be such that the mutual assignment can be changed continuously.
- the mode of operation of the extrusion tool - and thus the design of the drill blank to be produced - can be set within the scope of the inventive concept in that the nozzle and the mandrel are held rotatable relative to one another about the longitudinal axis of the nozzle (claim 2); the rotary adjustment in question has the result that the at least one internal flushing bore with respect to the drill blank - for example with respect to an associated helical groove - assumes a different angular position compared to a previously assumed starting position.
- the subject of the invention can also be designed in such a way that the nozzle and the mandrel are either only or in addition to the possibility of the rotary adjustment (see claim 2) held relative to each other in the longitudinal direction (claim 3).
- the position of the elastically deformable wire with respect to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle can be changed in a certain area. If, for example, the mandrel protruding into the inlet area of the nozzle is moved slightly away from the molding space, the at least one wire experiences a somewhat greater deformation in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the nozzle compared to the initial position; this has the consequence that the distance of the rinsing hole formed during the extrusion process to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle is reduced. By longitudinally displacing the mandrel in the opposite direction, the distance between the at least one flushing bore and the longitudinal axis of the nozzle may be increased.
- a retaining ring carrying the mandrel is detachably connected to the nozzle holder via a clamping ring, on which the clamping ring is rotatably supported (claim 4).
- the nozzle is movably supported on its holder via a straight guide (claim 5);
- the straight guide can be realized in a simple manner in that the outside of the nozzle has a longitudinal groove in which the nozzle holder engages via a projection, for example in the form of a cylindrical pin.
- the nozzle on its outlet side facing away from the mandrel is held by an adjusting ring, the supporting surface of which lies against the nozzle and can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle holder with respect to the latter in different positions (claim 6).
- the mobility of the support surface can be made possible by the fact that the adjusting ring can itself be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle holder and can be fixed by means of a clamping element.
- the subject of the invention can also be designed so that the Locking ring forms a screw connection with the nozzle holder and carries a locking screw that can be clamped with the nozzle holder (claim 7); with the rotation of the locking ring, its support surface also performs a movement in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle holder, with the result that the nozzle can also change its position with respect to the holder.
- the nozzle and the inlet area preceding it which has an inlet bore narrowing in the direction of movement of the raw material, can in principle be of multiple parts; the inlet area is preferably attached to the nozzle, if possible also detachably.
- the mandrel In order to ensure that the plastic raw material completely fills the molding space immediately following the mandrel outside the area of the at least one wire, the mandrel is conical in the area in question of its front section; the cone angle should be at least 90 °, but preferably around 120 ° (claim 8).
- each helical device of the nozzle is designed as a groove (claims 9 and 10) or as a projection projecting in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the nozzle (claim 11). It is possible to equip the drill blank with either a few grooves or protrusions, which can serve as a starting point for the manufacture of chip chambers.
- the subject of the invention can also be designed in such a way that the nozzle inner wall as helical devices has a plurality of grooves with a small cross-section (see also claim 10).
- grooves ensure that the plastic raw material undergoes the necessary twisting as it passes through the nozzle, with the production of a correspondingly shaped flushing hole or several correspondingly shaped flushing holes; After the production of the drill blank, the flat projections caused by the grooves can be removed with little effort by a grinding process.
- the extrusion tool points in the direction of extrusion (arrow 1) - i.e. Seen from left to right in FIG. 1 - the main components are a retaining ring 2 with a connection threaded bore 2a and external adjustment grooves 2b, a clamping ring 3 with external adjustment grooves 3a, an essentially tubular nozzle holder 4 with radially arranged adjustment bores 4a and a locking ring 5 with an end face arranged adjustment holes 5a.
- the extrusion tool can be fastened to a support structure, not shown, via which the plastic raw material to be processed is also supplied via the connection threaded bore 2a.
- the retaining ring 2 carries on three radially aligned webs 2c a hub 2d in which a mandrel 6 is detachably held by means of a cylindrical pin 7; securing the mandrel in the longitudinal direction (ie in Direction of arrow 1) takes place via a paragraph 6a.
- Two wires 8 made of elastic plastic emerge from the conical front section 6b of the mandrel; these merge into one another within the mandrel and are therefore part of the same wire section.
- the plastic should be such that it opposes the deformation occurring during the extrusion process as little as possible resistance to deformation and has the lowest possible frictional resistance with respect to the plastic raw material.
- the part 6c of the front section, in which the wires 8 protrude beyond it, has the shape of a cone with a cone angle of 120 °; in contrast, the part of the front section in front of it is designed as an acute-angled cone.
- the wire section forming the two wires 8 is held in the mandrel via two bores 6d and fastened to it by gluing.
- the detachable connection between the holder 2 and the nozzle holder 4 consists of the already mentioned clamping ring 3, which is supported on the one hand on a flange 4b of the component 4 and on the other hand forms a screw connection via its threaded bore 3c with a threaded section 2d of the holding ring.
- a rigid connection can be established between the components 2 and 4 either via the sealing surface 4c or the possibility of a rotary adjustment can be created.
- the nozzle holder 4 has a cylindrical bore 4e between a narrowing initial bore 4d and an expanding end bore 4f, in which there is a nozzle 9 with an upstream inlet region 9a in the longitudinal direction movably supported; the longitudinal axis of the nozzle, which coincides with the axis of the mandrel 6, is designated by 10.
- the straight guide of the nozzle 9 and the inlet area 9a attached to it consists of a guide pin 11 connected to the nozzle holder 4, which engages in a longitudinal groove 9b in the outer surface of the nozzle. While the nozzle 9 delimits a generally cylindrical mold space 9c, the inlet region 9a has an inlet bore 9d narrowing in the direction of extrusion.
- the position of the nozzle 9 and the inlet area 9a with respect to the nozzle holder 4 and with respect to the mandrel 6 can be determined or changed by means of the locking ring 5, which forms a screw connection with the nozzle holder 4 in the region of the end bore 4f; this is composed on the one hand of the threaded bore 5b of the component 5 and on the other hand of a threaded section 4g of the component 4.
- the nozzle 9 is supported on its outlet side facing away from the mandrel 6 on a support surface 5c of the locking ring 5; by rotating the locking ring, the support surface 5c can either be moved towards or away from the mandrel 6.
- a locking screw 12 is used, via which the components 4 and 5 can be immovably clamped together.
- the bore 5d of the locking ring 5 is in any case dimensioned larger than the cross section of the molding space 9c.
- the position of the nozzle 9 and the inlet area 9a with respect to the parts 6b and 6c of the mandrel 6 is Insofar as it changes the deformation of the wires 8 with respect to the longitudinal axis 10 under the influence of the supplied plastic raw material (for example hard metal): the further the part 6c in front of the nozzle 9, the more the wires 8 have the possibility of being underneath Reducing their mutual distance to approach the longitudinal axis 10 of the nozzle.
- the position of the rinsing bores generated by means of the wires 8 (cf. FIG. 5) within the drill blank can thus be changed continuously and delicately in the desired manner without much time and effort by turning the adjusting ring 5.
- the nozzle 9 can be designed differently with regard to the design of its inner wall 9c delimiting the molding space 9c (see FIGS. 3, 4, 6 and 7). It is essential for the production of a drill blank with at least one internal, helical flushing bore that the inner wall has at least one helical device for twisting the plastic raw material supplied; this twisting device should be such that the raw material is guided at least over an angle of 90 °, preferably over an angle of at least 180 °.
- the nozzle 9 is equipped with two projections 9e which are opposite each other with respect to the longitudinal axis 10 and project in the direction of these and which extend helically over an angular range of 90 °.
- the drill blank 13 sketched in FIG. 5 has a helical groove 14 and two internal rinsing holes 15 which are offset to the groove 14. The latter has been produced (in contrast to FIGS. 3 and 4) with a nozzle which only has a projection projecting in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the nozzle.
- a nozzle 9 shown in FIG. 6 has on the inner space 9c delimiting the mold space 9c, two grooves 9f lying opposite one another with respect to the longitudinal axis 10 of the nozzle, which are semicircular in cross section and which also extend helically over an angular range of 90 °.
- the use of such a nozzle leads to the formation of a drill blank which has an outer contour equipped with two helical ribs.
- the inner wall of the nozzle 9 is equipped with a large number of closely spaced grooves 9h, which have a small cross-section and also extend helically over a sufficiently dimensioned angular range, for example of at least 90 °.
- the advantage of this embodiment is that the small-sized grooves 9h ensure sufficient twisting of the plastic raw material and that a raw tool with a smooth, cylindrical surface can be produced from the resulting drill bit with at least one internal flushing hole with little effort by grinding.
- the position of the at least one internal flushing hole with respect to the at least one groove or Rib of the drill blank can be influenced in a simple manner in that after loosening the clamping ring, the nozzle holder 4 with the fixing ring 5 attached thereto is rotated with respect to the holding ring 2 by the desired angular dimension, with the result that the position of the on the mandrel 6 held wires 8 changes with respect to the nozzle 9 moving with the nozzle holder 4 (cf. FIG. 1).
- the eccentrically attached to the mandrel wires 8 are such that they deform helically without great resistance to deformation - the twisting of the plastic raw material in the nozzle - and thus lead to the formation of the internal flushing holes already mentioned.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an extrusion tool for producing a drill blank with at least one internal, helically running flushing bore made of a plastic raw material made of hard metal or ceramic, with a nozzle which delimits a mold space and a mandrel arranged in its inlet area, which at least one in the outside of the nozzle longitudinal axis Bearing protruding, elastically deformable wire, wherein the inner wall of the nozzle is provided with at least one helical device in such a way that the raw material passing through the nozzle is twisted.
In the generic extrusion tool - which is described in the documents of German utility models 85 36 805 and 85 30 884 - the inner wall of the nozzle has at least one helical projection serving as a guide bar and extending in the longitudinal direction; This causes the raw material heated to the extrusion temperature - regardless of external factors such as the material flow speed - to be twisted as soon as it passes through the nozzle and that the drill blank emerging from the nozzle has at least one groove, corresponding to the number of projections the starting with relatively little processing effort, the later chip chambers of the drill can be manufactured. Since the raw material is fed to the extrusion tool in a plastic state, the twisted drill bit can be cut to the desired length by a cutting process.
The mandrel of the extrusion tool is equipped with one or more wires made of an elastically deformable material in accordance with the number of flushing holes desired; This should be such that each wire adapts to the screwing motion of the raw material in the area of the nozzle with as little resistance to deformation as possible and in this way causes the formation of the helical flushing hole in the plastic raw material. Possible elastic wire materials are: copper, copper or bundle metal alloys, iron, iron alloys, light metals and light metal alloys using aluminum in particular; The use of plastics such as polyamide has proven to be particularly advantageous, and also as a coating for otherwise metallic wires. The mutual assignment of wire and protrusion in the inlet area of the nozzle allows the position of the flushing hole to be established with respect to the groove: for example, in an embodiment with two grooves and two internal flushing holes, the angle between the respective connecting lines can be 0 ° or 90 ° or else Accept the desired intermediate values.
According to previous experience, the spiral angle of the helical projection in the nozzle should be chosen somewhat larger than the spiral angle desired for the drill blank; usually the related oversize is on the order of 3 to 7 °.
The disadvantage of the prior art in question is that the mandrel and accessories and the nozzle are only accessible after the removal of the extrusion tool from the associated holding structure and therefore a fine adjustment or readjustment of the extrusion tool is cumbersome and time-consuming.
The invention has for its object to further develop the generic extrusion tool in such a way that the mutual assignment of the components that influence the formation of the drill blank to be produced can be changed with little effort, if necessary also during the extrusion process.
The object is achieved by an extrusion tool which has the features of
The mode of operation of the extrusion tool - and thus the design of the drill blank to be produced - can be set within the scope of the inventive concept in that the nozzle and the mandrel are held rotatable relative to one another about the longitudinal axis of the nozzle (claim 2); the rotary adjustment in question has the result that the at least one internal flushing bore with respect to the drill blank - for example with respect to an associated helical groove - assumes a different angular position compared to a previously assumed starting position. However, the subject of the invention can also be designed in such a way that the nozzle and the mandrel are either only or in addition to the possibility of the rotary adjustment (see claim 2) held relative to each other in the longitudinal direction (claim 3). By shifting in the longitudinal direction, the position of the elastically deformable wire with respect to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle can be changed in a certain area.
Combining the longitudinal adjustment with the rotary adjustment creates an extrusion tool in which the position of the at least one flushing hole can additionally be adapted to the outer shape of the drill blank.
In an advantageous embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, a retaining ring carrying the mandrel is detachably connected to the nozzle holder via a clamping ring, on which the clamping ring is rotatably supported (claim 4). By turning the clamping ring, the locking of the retaining ring with the nozzle holder can be eliminated, so that the mandrel and the nozzle can be rotated relative to one another; the connection between the holding structure of the extrusion tool and the retaining ring can remain.
In a further development of the subject matter of the invention, the nozzle is movably supported on its holder via a straight guide (claim 5); the straight guide can be realized in a simple manner in that the outside of the nozzle has a longitudinal groove in which the nozzle holder engages via a projection, for example in the form of a cylindrical pin.
Preferably, the nozzle on its outlet side facing away from the mandrel is held by an adjusting ring, the supporting surface of which lies against the nozzle and can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle holder with respect to the latter in different positions (claim 6). The mobility of the support surface can be made possible by the fact that the adjusting ring can itself be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle holder and can be fixed by means of a clamping element. However, the subject of the invention can also be designed so that the Locking ring forms a screw connection with the nozzle holder and carries a locking screw that can be clamped with the nozzle holder (claim 7); with the rotation of the locking ring, its support surface also performs a movement in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle holder, with the result that the nozzle can also change its position with respect to the holder.
The nozzle and the inlet area preceding it, which has an inlet bore narrowing in the direction of movement of the raw material, can in principle be of multiple parts; the inlet area is preferably attached to the nozzle, if possible also detachably.
In order to ensure that the plastic raw material completely fills the molding space immediately following the mandrel outside the area of the at least one wire, the mandrel is conical in the area in question of its front section; the cone angle should be at least 90 °, but preferably around 120 ° (claim 8).
Depending on how the outer contour of the drill blank to be produced is to be shaped, each helical device of the nozzle is designed as a groove (
It is possible to equip the drill blank with either a few grooves or protrusions, which can serve as a starting point for the manufacture of chip chambers. However, the subject of the invention can also be designed in such a way that the nozzle inner wall as helical devices has a plurality of grooves with a small cross-section (see also claim 10). These grooves ensure that the plastic raw material undergoes the necessary twisting as it passes through the nozzle, with the production of a correspondingly shaped flushing hole or several correspondingly shaped flushing holes; After the production of the drill blank, the flat projections caused by the grooves can be removed with little effort by a grinding process.
The invention is explained in detail below with reference to the drawing, in which several embodiments of the subject matter of the invention and an embodiment of a drill blank are shown schematically.

The extrusion tool points in the direction of extrusion (arrow 1) - i.e. Seen from left to right in FIG. 1 - the main components are a
The
The detachable connection between the
The

The position of the

Fig. 3, 4, 6 und 7). Depending on the desired outer shape of the drill blank, the
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the

The embodiment of a
The use of such a nozzle leads to the formation of a drill blank which has an outer contour equipped with two helical ribs.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 7, the inner wall of the

The position of the at least one internal flushing hole with respect to the at least one groove or Rib of the drill blank can be influenced in a simple manner in that after loosening the clamping ring, the
