Abstract

A closure for receptacles is provided which can be produced in one piece by injection molding or the like from plastic material and has a rigid pouring spout linked to the base of the cap-shaped, substantially rigid closure body which is disposed in swivelling fashion between a locked position folded down in the plane of the base and a position being approximately vertical thereto and is connected to the cap body via a membrane-like flexible wall portion. The pouring spout has at its circumference one or several bar projections, over which a bar projection engages which can be elastically bent outwards in the locked position to secure the pouring spout in this position.

Description

The invention relates to a closure for containers for receiving flowable filling material, consisting of an essentially rigid closure cap body which can be sealingly applied to the end of the container, and an essentially rigid pouring spout, which on one side has an articulated line with the cap base between a folded pouring position and a closure position pivoted approximately into the plane of the cap base, and is otherwise connected to the closure cap body in a sealing manner via a membrane-like flexible wall section, in the closed position the pouring spout being snap-fitted into locking engagement with locking elements arranged on the closure cap body and at least one end of the pouring spout get to the sealing system on a sealing surface inside the cap body.

Closures of this type are e.g. from FR-OS 2 498 566 (corresponds to US Pat. No. 4,440,327). Such as. from Figure 8 of these documents, the rigid pouring spout is sealed at its open ends in the closed position and a portion of the free opening edge of the pouring spout snaps into locking engagement with a corresponding portion on the inside of the peripheral wall of the closure body in the closed position. The arrangement is such that the pouring spout with its outer surface in the closed position is substantially flush with the outer surface of the cap base, so that in this position an essentially flat and continuous surface is formed.

An advantage of such closures is that they are in one piece in all their parts, i.e. also in the parts which are movable relative to one another, e.g. can be manufactured by injection molding. The production takes place in a position corresponding to the pouring position of the spout. This means that in the closed position of the pouring spout, which is pivoted relative to the production position, considerable spring forces are stored in the material, which strive to move the pouring spout again in the direction of its open position. It is therefore important that the pouring spout is locked in the closed position with sufficient force against the resilient restoring forces on the cap body.

Snap-like locking options of a pouring device are therefore already known in other known closures. So the europ. Publication 51 528 in the cap bottom a radially extending channel into which the pouring spout lies in the closed position, which has an upper cover element which engages with its front end snap-fast under corresponding laterally projecting locking portions of the channel. DE-OS 3 104 561 shows a pouring spout which, in the closed position, engages with its open mouth end in a snap manner via an inwardly projecting extension of the peripheral wall of the closure body. Corresponding locking measures are also known in the case of two-part closures in which the pouring spout is designed as a separate part and is pivotably mounted in the closure body. For example, U.S. Patent 3,718,239 shows in the top of the cap body a receptacle in which the spout comes to rest in the closed position. Interacting locking elements are provided within the receptacle on the one hand and at corresponding points in the pouring spout, which engage in one another when the closure position is reached.

Starting from a closure with the features of the preamble of claim 1, it is an object of the invention to ensure, on the one hand, the retention of a secure locking of the pouring spout in the closed position, but on the other hand to facilitate the production by less tight manufacturing tolerances in the formation of the snap-together Parts are required, the voltages and resistances occurring when the pouring spout is pivoted into the closed position should remain as small as possible.

This object is achieved by the measures of the teaching of claim 1.

An essential feature of this solution is the rigid wall, which is parallel to the cap base and is arranged sunk relative to it, which rigidly connects the cap peripheral wall and a concentric sleeve projecting from the cap base beyond the wall and defining the outer peripheral edge of the membrane-like wall section. Because of this design, the membrane can have a large circumferential length in the region of its defined edge. The membrane which thereby falls out over a large area has a substantially reduced resistance to the movement of the pouring spout from the pouring position into the closed position. The total forces to be applied for the closing process are reduced accordingly.

The recessed rigid wall also allows the locking elements to be designed with a relatively high degree of flexibility, since the associated webs can freely project over a relatively large extent in the direction of the axis of the closure. Nevertheless, due to their large length, these webs ensure that the pouring spout is securely locked against the elastic restoring forces. This not only facilitates the elastic snap-in with a significantly reduced effort, but also enables the acceptance of considerable tolerances in the manufacture of the interlocking locking elements. In all of this, the new design also ensures that the cover of the pouring spout is flush with the outer surface of the cap base in the closed position.

An easy-to-use closure is thus obtained which shows no fatigue damage even after long use and which is easy to handle and operate.

Eine die Handhabung begünstigende und eine sichere Verriegelung gewährleistende Ausbildung des Verschlusses nach Anspruch 1 ergibt sich besonders bei den Ausbildungen gemäß der Lehre der Ansprüche 2 und 3.Training that favors handling and ensures secure locking of the closure according to claim 1 results particularly in the training according to the teaching of claims 2 and 3.

The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of schematic drawings using an exemplary embodiment.

Show it:
  • 1 shows a section along the section line II of Figure 2 and
  • FIG. 2 shows a section along the section line 11-11 of FIG. 1.

According to the exemplary embodiment, the closure 1 has a cylindrical closure cap body 2 with a flat cap base 3. With regard to the plastic material used, the wall thickness of the cap body is chosen so that it is relatively rigid. The cap body has an approximately rectangular recess 22 which is closed at the bottom by a wall 30 approximately parallel to the cap base 3 and to the circumference by a wall 19 running along a chord of the cap outline. At the location of the wall 19, the cap body is withdrawn to form a recessed grip for opening the closure. At a predetermined distance from the wall 19 arranged along the chord, a parallel straight wall 16 projects downward from the cap base 3. In the example shown, the two walls 16 and 19 are at a mutual distance which is equal to or slightly larger than the radius of the cap body 2. Furthermore, an inner sleeve 8, which projects inwards from the cap bottom 3, is provided concentrically with the outer wall 2 of the cap body is connected to the peripheral wall 2 of the cap body in the region of the recess 22 via the wall 30.

In the area along which the inner wall 16 is connected to the cap body 3, a cover 10, which is shown in the open position in FIG. 1, is integrally articulated on the cap base 3 via a joint line 12, which is formed by a material weakening which covers the recess 22 of the cap upwards in the closed position according to FIG. 2. The lid 10 has a free end 11 which, in the closed position according to FIG. 2, projects beyond the recessed grip on the outer circumference of the cap and can thus be gripped easily with the fingers.

An elongated pouring spout 14 is integrally formed on the circumferential side of the cover 10, the pouring end 18 of which, after pivoting in accordance with the arrow 17, cooperates with the wall 19 in the closed position, while its inner end has an integrally formed sealing sleeve 15 which, in the closed position, is biased against the wall 16 lays so that in the closed position both ends of the pouring spout 14 are at least covered and the inner end is sealed at the same time.

The pouring spout 14 is connected to the cap base 3 in a sealing and articulated manner via the cover part 10. Otherwise, the inner end of the pouring spout 14 is sealingly but movably connected to the cap body by means of a flexibly bendable membrane 4. This is formed in one piece with the cap parts and of comparatively small thickness compared to the other parts. In the plane of the cap base 3, the membrane is firmly connected to the lower end of the pouring spout 14, as indicated at 13. In addition, the flexible wall section 4 is fixedly connected to the inner surface of the sleeve 8 along a plane which is indicated at 5. The central region of the flexible wall section 4 is convexly curved outwards in the open position shown in FIG. 1, as indicated by the thick line 6. If the pouring spout is moved in the closed position, on the other hand, the wall section 4 jumps over and reaches the concave, inwardly curved position 6a, as shown in dashed lines in FIG. 1, in dashed lines. Overstressing of the flexible wall section is avoided by its relatively large surface area, which is achieved in that the sleeve 8 jumps far into the interior of the cap and the flexible wall section 4 extends to the lower end of the sleeve 8.

To lock the pouring spout 14, which can be of any cross-section, it has elongated locking sections on its sides. In the preferred exemplary embodiment shown, these are provided as elongated strips 20, 27 which extend along diametrically opposed surface lines of the pouring spout 14. Each web has a locking surface 20 lying in the diametrical plane in the closed position and an inclined run-up surface 27 pointing downwards.

Furthermore, webs 21 to 24 projecting upward from the intermediate wall 30 are provided at a distance corresponding to the mutual spacing of the surfaces 20. These protrude from the wall 30 upwards in the direction of the cap base 3. At their upper free edges they have inwardly projecting bends or beads 23, 25 in the direction of the pouring spout 14, which are arranged so that they are in the closed position Reach behind surfaces 20. As a result, the pouring spout is locked in the closed position, which ensures that this closed position is maintained even against considerable elastic restoring forces or against mechanical effects on the handle portion 11 of the lid. The locking engagement extends over a noticeable length of the closure sleeve 14, which favors a secure hold.

Claims (3)

1. A closure for receptacles intented to hold a flowable product, comprising a substantially rigid cap body which can be attached to the end of the receptacle in a tightly sealing manner and of a substantially rigid pouring spout, one side of which is connected to the cap end by means of a joint, so that the spout can be moved from a folded-up pouring position to a folded-down closed position in which it is approximately in the same plane as the cap end, and the remaining area of which is connected in a sealed manner to the cap body by a dai- phragm-type flexible wall, the pouring spout, when closed, snapping into a locked position with locking elements arranged on the cap body, in which position at least one end of the pouring spout gets in tight-sealing contact with a sealing face provided inside the cap body, characterized in that there is a rigid wall (30) which is arranged roughly parallel to, and at a lower level than, the cap end (3) and which connects the circumferential cap wall (2) with a sleeve (8) defining the outer circumferential edge of the diaphragm wall section (4), such sleeve being arranged concentrically relative to the cap wall (2) and projecting from the cap end (3) beyond the wall (30) into the interior, that two long and flexible webs (21, 24), arranged at a predetermined distance from one another and parallel to the longitudinal direction of the pouring spout (14) in its closed position, freely project from wall (30) in the direction of the plane of the cap end (3) and which, at their upper ends, have beads, bent edges or other shaped locking elements (23, 25) which project inwardly towards the pouring spout (14), and that the pouring spout (14) has long locking sections (20) at diametrically opposed circumferential sides which engage with the shaped locking elements (23, 25).
2. A closure to claim 1, characterized in that each locking section (20, 27) has a radially projecting strip which extends along the generatrix of the pouring spout (14) and is provided with a flank (20) pointing upward in closed position, such flank being disposed in an approximately radial plane of the pouring spout (14), or parallel to it, and acting as a sealing face, and a downward pointing flank (27) which is designed to form an oblique run-up face for the shaped locking elements (23, 25).
3. A closure to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that each web (21, 24) starts from a cross wall section (19) which is roughly perpendicular to the long side of the pouring spout (14) and to wall (30), such cross wall section (19) being rigidly connected with the wall (30), the cap end (3) and the cap body (2) and having a sealing face which acts with the outer end of the pouring spout (14) in closed position to form a seal.
