Definitions
- the invention relates to an inking unit, in particular a short inking unit for printing presses working with a hard printing form and processing inks corresponding to the viscosity of offset inks, in particular offset printing presses, with an inking device that colors the hard printing form clamped on a cylinder at the same speed as the printing form rotating applicator roller, which is provided with at least one rubber jacket formed by a rubber blanket applied to a steel pad, preferably glued on, and has a diameter corresponding to the effective diameter of the printing form.
- a short inking unit of this type is described in DE-B 31 17 341. Comparatively thick and soft rubber blankets were used in the practical implementation of such an arrangement. After all, they even switched to a vulcanized, comparatively thick and soft rubber jacket. So far it was assumed that the rubber jacket of the applicator roller should be comparatively thick and soft, in order to ensure a broad mutual contact and thus a long contact time to guarantee.
- the rubber layer is deformed because of the contact forces acting between the application roller and the printing form in such a way that a strip-shaped contact of the application roller with the printing form results. Too large a width of this so-called printing strip can, however, negatively influence the inking of the printing form, since uncontrollable shear forces act on the ink.
- each rubber blanket picked up on the applicator roller has a total thickness in the range from 1.5 mm to 4.5 mm and a hardness of 60 ° -80 ° shore.
- the total thickness of each rubber blanket picked up on the application roller can be approximately 2.5 mm and the hardness approximately 68 ° Shore. This results in an optimal width of the printing strip and thus excellent ink transfer and distribution.
- the same blanket material can be used for the blanket cover of the applicator roller in terms of thickness and thickness, which is also used in an offset printing machine for transferring the print image to the printing substrate.
- an offset printing machine there are practically the same conditions both in the area of the ink supply to the printing form and in the area of the ink removal from the printing form, which facilitates correct setting of the mutual contact pressures, etc.
- a further preferred measure can consist in that the application roller has at least one axially parallel circumferential channel into which the ends of each assigned blanket engage and whose inside diameter corresponds at most to the inside diameter of a circumferential channel of the cylinder receiving the printing form.
- the ends of each rubber blanket received on the applicator roller and engaging in a circumferential channel can be overlapped by a holding strip which can be inserted into the circumferential channel and which has flanks that are parallel to the preferably outwardly converging flanks of the circumferential channel.
- Another expedient measure can consist in the fact that two stop pins are provided in the area of the flank of each circumferential channel assigned to the beginning of the rubber blanket, the distance between which corresponds to the distance from two recesses provided in the area of the respectively assigned rubber blanket.
- Another expedient measure can consist in that a distance is provided between the rubber blankets arranged next to one another. This results in practically groove-shaped punctures between adjacent blankets, which enables simple color separation over the length of the application roller and thus the length of the cylinder holding the printing form.
- blankets offset against one another in the circumferential direction can be provided over the length of the application roller.
- the drive device is not suddenly relieved when the circumferential channels pass through the nip, so that smooth running is ensured.
- FIG. 1 The arrangement on which FIG. 1 is based consists, in a manner known per se, of two rolls which roll on one another and which press the web of paper 1 passed between them, each covered with a blanket cylinder 2 on its circumference, each with a plate cylinder 3 on which hard printing plates in the form of Metal plates are clamped together.
- the printing plates accommodated on the plate cylinder 3 are held at their ends by clamping devices arranged in the circumferentially arranged cylinder pits 4.
- the cylinder pits 4 of the blanket cylinder 2 and plate cylinder 3 are arranged so that they pass through the cylinder Roll the contact area onto each other.
- the inking of the printing plates received on the plate cylinder 3 takes place by means of an application roller 5 which rolls on the plate cylinder 3 at the same peripheral speed.
- the diameter of the application roller 5 corresponds to the diameter of the plate cylinder 3, which here also corresponds to the diameter of the rubber cylinder 2.
- the applicator roller 5 is supplied with ink by an anilox roller 7 which interacts with a doctor blade 6.
- the anilox roller 7 can be dyed in any way and is immersed in an ink fountain 8 in the illustrated embodiment.
- the applicator roller 5, which is arranged between the anilox roller 7, which has a hard surface, and the plate cylinder 3, which is covered with hard printing plates, has an outer rubber jacket 10, which is received on a steel base 9, for example in the form of a steel jacket, etc., taken up on an axis Figure 2 can be seen, formed by spaced apart rubber blankets 10a.
- the axial orientation and the width of the rubber blankets 10a correspond to the axial orientation and width of the printing plates accommodated on the plate cylinder 3.
- the rubber blankets 10a are glued to the steel jacket 9.
- rubber blankets provided with a self-adhesive coating, which is covered with a removable protective film can be used. These can simply be stuck on by peeling off the protective film, whereby to achieve a certain amount Preßdrucks an adjustment of the applicator roller 5 to the plate cylinder 3 and a slow cylinder rotation can be done with the help of the washing drive.
- the blankets 10a which can be fixed on the circumference of the application roller 5 consist of a textile backing layer with a rubber-elastic overlay.
- the total thickness of the rubber blankets 10a can be 1.5 mm to 4.5 mm and is 2.5 mm in the exemplary embodiment shown.
- the hardness of the rubber blankets 10a can be 60 ° to 80 °, preferably 65 ° to 70 ° Shore and is 68 ° Shore in the exemplary embodiment shown.
- Such a rubber blanket is also suitable for transferring the color to the paper web 1.
- the rubber cylinders 2 are accordingly covered with a rubber blanket of the same thickness and hardness as the rubber blankets 10a of the applicator roller 5.
- the ends of the rubber blankets 10a received on the applicator roller 5 are clamped between two clamping surfaces to secure them against tearing and crushing.
- This can be the clamping surfaces of a clamping device.
- the ends of the rubber blankets 10a lie on the outwardly converging flanks of an associated circumferential channel 11 of the application roller 5 and are secured by a retaining strip 12 which overlaps them in the region of the circumferential channel 5 and which the flanks of the circumferential channel 11 has parallel flanks, so that mutually parallel clamping surfaces result, between which the ends of the rubber blankets 10a can be clamped.
- the retaining strips 12 have a trapezoidal shape Cross-section with flat, mutually parallel peripheral surfaces and side surfaces converging towards the outside.
- the length of the holding strips 12 corresponds, as can be seen in FIG. 2, to the width of the respectively associated rubber blanket 10a, so that each rubber blanket 10a is assigned its own holding strip 12.
- the holding strips 12 can be clamped by means of a quick release device.
- the holding strips 12 are simply secured by holding screws 13 distributed uniformly over their length, which engage in the steel support 9 and whose head, as FIG. 3 further shows, is countersunk with respect to the outer surface of the associated holding strip 12 arranged radially within the effective roller circumference.
- the length of the rubber blankets 10a corresponds to the circumference of the application roller 5.
- the opposite ends of the rubber blankets 10a accordingly engage in the same circumferential channel 11.
- four rubber blankets 10a arranged next to one another are provided over the length of the applicator roller 5 and are offset in pairs by 180 °, so that two are in the axial direction by their length and in the circumferential direction by 180 ° offset circumferential channels 11 result.
- the application roller 5 is set relative to the plate cylinder 3 that the circumferential channels 11 roll through the nip between applicator roller 5 and plate cylinder 3 on the cylinder pits 4 of the plate cylinder 3 and outside the cylinder pits 4 there is a reliable inking of the printing plates.
- the maximum width of the circumferential channels 11 is smaller than or at most the same size as the clear width of the cylinder pits 4 of the plate cylinder 3.
- the rubber blankets arranged next to one another are arranged next to one another at a distance , so that there are groove-shaped recesses 14 between adjacent rubber blankets 10a, which allow the application roller 5 to be acted on with different colors.
- two stop pins 15 are shown in FIG. 3 in the region of the flank of the circumferential channels 11 receiving the blanket start for each associated blanket, ie per printing plate width, offset with respect to one another in the axial direction intended.
- the axial distance between the stop pins 15 which belong together in pairs can be dimensioned such that the respectively associated rubber blanket 10a abuts the stop pins 15 with its side flanks. In the illustrated embodiment, the This distance should be a little smaller than the blanket width. Accordingly, as indicated in FIG.
- the rubber blankets 10a are provided in the region of their leading edge with recesses 16 formed here by punched holes, the spacing and clear width of which corresponds to the spacing and the diameter of the associated stop pins 15.
- the rubber blankets 10a When the rubber blankets 10a are stuck on, they can accordingly be hung up with their recesses 16 on the stop pins 15 provided on the roller side, which automatically results in the desired right-angled orientation.
- the length of the stop pins 15 is dimensioned such that they protrude from the respectively assigned rubber blanket 10a with a safety distance, which facilitates handling.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an inking unit, in particular a short inking unit for printing presses working with a hard printing form and processing inks corresponding to the viscosity of offset inks, in particular offset printing presses, with an inking device that colors the hard printing form clamped on a cylinder at the same speed as the printing form rotating applicator roller, which is provided with at least one rubber jacket formed by a rubber blanket applied to a steel pad, preferably glued on, and has a diameter corresponding to the effective diameter of the printing form.
A short inking unit of this type is described in DE-B 31 17 341. The rubber layer is deformed because of the contact forces acting between the application roller and the printing form in such a way that a strip-shaped contact of the application roller with the printing form results. Too large a width of this so-called printing strip can, however, negatively influence the inking of the printing form, since uncontrollable shear forces act on the ink.
Proceeding from this, it is therefore the object of the present invention to improve an arrangement of the type mentioned at the outset with simple and inexpensive means in such a way that a good inking of the printing form is ensured.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that each rubber blanket picked up on the applicator roller has a total thickness in the range from 1.5 mm to 4.5 mm and a hardness of 60 ° -80 ° shore.
With these measures, on the one hand, a gentle mode of operation is achieved despite reliable application of the application roller to the printing form, and on the other hand, it ensures that unfavorable shear forces acting on the ink are avoided. The technical progress achievable with the measures according to the invention can thus be seen in particular in avoiding the disadvantages of the known arrangements that have been identified.
In an advantageous further development of the superordinate measures, the total thickness of each rubber blanket picked up on the application roller can be approximately 2.5 mm and the hardness approximately 68 ° Shore. This results in an optimal width of the printing strip and thus excellent ink transfer and distribution. Appropriately, the same blanket material can be used for the blanket cover of the applicator roller in terms of thickness and thickness, which is also used in an offset printing machine for transferring the print image to the printing substrate. In the case of an offset printing machine, there are practically the same conditions both in the area of the ink supply to the printing form and in the area of the ink removal from the printing form, which facilitates correct setting of the mutual contact pressures, etc.
A further preferred measure can consist in that the application roller has at least one axially parallel circumferential channel into which the ends of each assigned blanket engage and whose inside diameter corresponds at most to the inside diameter of a circumferential channel of the cylinder receiving the printing form. These measures enable the ends of the applicator roller side to be reliably secured against the rubber blanket or the rubber blankets on the applicator roller side and thus also result in high reliability even when high contact pressures are used. Since the applicator roller has a diameter corresponding to the effective diameter of the printing form, an in-phase arrangement of the mutual circumferential channels can also advantageously be achieved in an advantageous manner, so that a reliable inking of the printing form is ensured despite the circumferential channels on the applicator roller side.
In a further development of the above measures, the ends of each rubber blanket received on the applicator roller and engaging in a circumferential channel can be overlapped by a holding strip which can be inserted into the circumferential channel and which has flanks that are parallel to the preferably outwardly converging flanks of the circumferential channel. This results in a reliable clamping of the blanket ends and thus a particularly simple and reliable securing.
Another expedient measure can consist in the fact that two stop pins are provided in the area of the flank of each circumferential channel assigned to the beginning of the rubber blanket, the distance between which corresponds to the distance from two recesses provided in the area of the respectively assigned rubber blanket. These measures make it easier to apply the rubber blankets at right angles.
In a further development of the superordinate measures, several blankets can be arranged side by side over the length of the application roller, the width of which Width corresponds to an assigned printing form. The corresponding blanket can simply be removed to stop the ink supply to the cylinder containing the printing form in sections. When using rubber blankets that are glued on and secured by a tensioning strip, this is particularly easy to accomplish, since only the tensioning strip has to be loosened and the desired rubber blanket has to be removed from the steel base while overcoming liability. The same applies to a blanket change. To facilitate the assembly and disassembly work, it can be useful if each blanket is assigned its own holding strip with the blanket of the appropriate length.
Another expedient measure can consist in that a distance is provided between the rubber blankets arranged next to one another. This results in practically groove-shaped punctures between adjacent blankets, which enables simple color separation over the length of the application roller and thus the length of the cylinder holding the printing form.
In a further development of the superordinate measures, blankets offset against one another in the circumferential direction can be provided over the length of the application roller. In this case, the drive device is not suddenly relieved when the circumferential channels pass through the nip, so that smooth running is ensured.
Further advantageous configurations and expedient further developments of the superordinate measures result from the following description of an embodiment with reference to the drawing in conjunction with the remaining subclaims.

The arrangement on which FIG. 1 is based consists, in a manner known per se, of two rolls which roll on one another and which press the web of paper 1 passed between them, each covered with a
The inking of the printing plates received on the
The
The
The ends of the
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the length of the
To ensure that the lateral edges of the
