Definitions
- the invention relates to a boom attachment to the mast, in particular a surfing sail board, the boom head being rotatably mounted on the mast via an axis according to German patent application P 36 27 466.6.
- a swivel joint with a sleeve or half sleeve adapted to the mast was provided in the area of the boom end on the mast side. It was attached using push-on clamping sleeves and the cuff tapering upwards and downwards.
- the invention has for its object to develop the connection in a boom that is pivotally mounted with its boom head axis in the boom head end piece so that this can be brought about with as few parts as possible.
- the invention is further based on the object to get by with such a construction with fewer parts than before and if possible, to be able to do without several sleeve parts for attaching the full sleeve to the conical mast.
- this axis is flat on the side remote from the mast, i.e. it has a surface that is slightly inclined to the main boom surface.
- the opposite, in particular fork-tree-side surface in the middle of the axis has a protrusion protruding from the axis plane, which is parallel to the top of the surface according to claim 2, this elevation together with the axis for rotating in the cuff fixed boom head end piece is rounded on one side or round and recessed on the side of the mast rounding (shell-like) lying in the sail position in the window of the sleeve and that the transition from the elevation to the shell part is also rounded.
- the mast sleeve expediently carries a rubber sleeve on the inside.
- the rubber sleeve can carry an outwardly protruding retaining or captive locking ring on its end sides.
- the boom cuff thus shows a window which is located approximately in the middle under the boom end piece which is fixed to the cuff or is integral with this.
- two cams of the boom head end piece expediently grip under the pivot axis and thus ensure a further locking.
- the boom head end piece is thus designed so that it is integral with its support bracket parts with the full sleeve or is fastened to it and with the end piece complementing the boom head overhangs the bearing block.
- the round pivot or swivel bearing is recessed inside the boom head end piece. This only leads to one the insertion of the suitable slot freely to the outside.
- the boom head end piece On the boom, i.e. On the side of the cuff, the boom head end piece is also open at the bottom, so that a bump on the boom head axis, hereinafter referred to simply as the axis, can be passed through or pushed in.
- the elevation (which comes to rest on the cuff) is rounded against the shell-like part of the elevation (which is adapted to the outer diameter of the mast), so that the elevation practically runs smoothly against the mast or in the mast window.
- the cuff for example made of metal and possibly adapted to the conicity of the mast in its shape (outside and inside), has a window 12 which is wider than it is high, specifically for entry the elevation of the axis.
- the end piece 14 of the boom end piece is formed in one piece with the sleeve. This grips the cuff with small bearing blocks (not shown) (in front of and behind the figure level).
- the foremost head piece and the entire course is designed in accordance with the boom head, since this forms the end piece of the boom head.
- the rope bore 18 is provided at the front of the end piece.
- An outwardly widening slot 18 is provided as close to the mast as possible, which merges into the circular bearing 20. The clew tension also presses the rubber against the mast.
- the rubber tube or a rubber sits in the full cuff lining 22 with circlip head 24.
- Fig. 2 is a section perpendicular through the known mast M with boom B in the feathered position. You can clearly see the full sleeve 10 with inserted rubber tube 22.
- the cam or the elevation 28 of the eccentric axis extends through the window 12. 28 ⁇ denotes the part of the elevation which, due to the rounding and transition, belongs to the profile of the cam.
- the cam 28 presses (abutment rear boom head) against the mast M by means of the rubber tube 22 and holds the boom against rotation against the mast.
- support cams 29 After pivoting into the 90 ° position, support cams 29 reach under the straight surface of the axis and secure against involuntary release.
- Fig. 3 is a section along the central plane of Fig. 2 (but only the boom with its axis - without boom end piece).
- the eccentric 28 ⁇ which clamps the mast is clearly recognizable as part of the eccentric axis of rotation 36.
- the inclination or slight inclination of the axis of rotation relative to the central plane of the boom is also clearly visible.
- the elevation 38 which extends beyond the actual axis of rotation 36 ⁇ at the bottom (or at the top, depending on the name), is also clearly recognizable.
- the elevation is shell-shaped in the area in front of and behind the figure plane following the mast rounds.
- 37 is a guide stop for the cams 29 fixed to the boom end piece.
- Fig. 4 finally shows the rubber bushing 22 with captive device 24.
- the rubber bushing is otherwise a cylinder. Their thickness can be, for example, 2.5, 3.0 or 3.5 mm. It can be a so-called rolled rubber, which is cheap to process.
- FIG. 5 illustrates.
- the The boom rotated and sweeps over the circular bearing with the curves 82 of its axis and is finally locked therein after rotation by 90 ° (due to its eccentric).
- the aforementioned rubber sleeve 86 is again seated.
- 88 shows the insertion
- the arrow 90 shows the twisting of the boom axis relative to the boom head end piece 92. Due to the elevation on the boom clamp axis, there is also a safeguard against incorrect insertion.
- This elevation has a rolling radius for rolling in the swivel bearing not only on the side with which the elevation rolls on the mast, but of course also on the opposite side of the axis section (it is also round at the back and protects the mast against edging).
- FIG. 6 shows a modified embodiment.
- the mast sleeve 100 is also made, for example, of metal and, except for the changes to be described, can be similar to that described above.
- the mast sleeve 100 is slotted at 104 transversely to its axis or to the mast axis 102.
- the slot is continuous.
- the two parts of the sleeve 100 are connected via a bearing block 108 which forms an annular chamber 106 and which supports the through bore 110 for the starting sheet in the manner described above.
- the rubber sleeve 112 already described is inserted into the mast sleeve 100.
- the boom end has been passed through the slot 104.
- the axle piece 114 of the boom which was described above with the reference numbers 36 and 72, is introduced from the boom. After swiveling the boom axis by 90 °, there is a firm lock between the collar including the rubber collar and the boom. The user does not have to worry about another part (mast sleeve in addition to the boom).
- FIG. 8 shows how, after insertion of the boom axis into the ring chamber of the bearing block 108, the boom was again pivoted by 90 ° and now with the rounded part of its axis against the rubber sleeve 112 and thus against the mast, of which only the geometric axis 102 is indicated , presses.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a boom attachment to the mast, in particular a surfing sail board, the boom head being rotatably mounted on the mast via an axis according to German
It has been found that this is already an excellent type of attachment without having to take any special precautions on the mast or boom.
This construction is now to be improved insofar as, in the case of particularly gusty winds or at a great distance from the land, the number of the many parts serving for fastening can be unfavorable, for example if the boom is unintentionally released from the mast opening or the like.
The invention has for its object to develop the connection in a boom that is pivotally mounted with its boom head axis in the boom head end piece so that this can be brought about with as few parts as possible.
The invention is further based on the object to get by with such a construction with fewer parts than before and if possible, to be able to do without several sleeve parts for attaching the full sleeve to the conical mast.
This is surprisingly achieved by attaching a boom to the mast, in particular a surfing sail board, the boom head being rotatably mounted on the mast via an axis (of the type mentioned at the beginning), by means of a full sleeve with a cut-out window loosely pushed onto the mast with the window overlapping downwards ( boom head end piece open parallel to the mast; by the fork head axis connecting the boom ends, which carries a rounded elevation in the middle in such a way that rolling the elevation on the mast when the boom is pivoted into a vertical position between the mast and boom (sail position) immobilizes the boom relative to the mast.
Preferably this axis is flat on the side remote from the mast, i.e. it has a surface that is slightly inclined to the main boom surface.
Appropriately, the opposite, in particular fork-tree-side surface in the middle of the axis has a protrusion protruding from the axis plane, which is parallel to the top of the surface according to
Zweckmäßig trägt die Mastmanschette innenseitig eine Gummihülse. The mast sleeve expediently carries a rubber sleeve on the inside.
The rubber sleeve can carry an outwardly protruding retaining or captive locking ring on its end sides.
The boom cuff thus shows a window which is located approximately in the middle under the boom end piece which is fixed to the cuff or is integral with this.
After pivoting, two cams of the boom head end piece expediently grip under the pivot axis and thus ensure a further locking.
The boom head end piece is thus designed so that it is integral with its support bracket parts with the full sleeve or is fastened to it and with the end piece complementing the boom head overhangs the bearing block. The round pivot or swivel bearing is recessed inside the boom head end piece. This only leads to one the insertion of the suitable slot freely to the outside.
On the boom, i.e. On the side of the cuff, the boom head end piece is also open at the bottom, so that a bump on the boom head axis, hereinafter referred to simply as the axis, can be passed through or pushed in.
When swiveling the inserted boom head axis in the boom head end piece in the sail position (from the insertion position parallel to the mast into a position perpendicular to the mast), a rounded-off elevation is rotated or swiveled until the inside of the elevation (which is adapted to the outer diameter of the mast shell-like) into the window of the boom boom has entered and the mast is clamped through the window with the rubber sleeve in between.
It is completely surprising that this simple process ensures that the cuff and, of course, the boom are held firmly on the mast. It is impossible to move the cuff up or down, or to twist the mast inside the cuff as long as the boom is in a position perpendicular to the mast.
It is also completely surprising that, despite this cam, no notch pressure (which could lead to the mast bending at this point) is exerted by the elevation on the mast.
For this purpose, however, the elevation (which comes to rest on the cuff) is rounded against the shell-like part of the elevation (which is adapted to the outer diameter of the mast), so that the elevation practically runs smoothly against the mast or in the mast window.
It does not need to be decided whether there is only a pure clamping pressure perpendicular to the window or whether the sleeve or sleeve is to be frictionally clamped over its entire extent. In any case, the clew tension also presses the rubber against the mast.

Fig. 1 und 5 zeigen Schnitte durch die Vollmanschette 10. Die Schothornspannung drückt zusätzlich den Gummi an den Mast.1 and 5 show sections through the

Fig. 2 is a section perpendicular through the known mast M with boom B in the feathered position.
Fig. 3 is a section along the central plane of Fig. 2 (but only the boom with its axis - without boom end piece).
The introduction of a
Due to the elevation on the boom clamp axis, there is also a safeguard against incorrect insertion. This elevation has a rolling radius for rolling in the swivel bearing not only on the side with which the elevation rolls on the mast, but of course also on the opposite side of the axis section (it is also round at the back and protects the mast against edging).
Figure 6 shows a modified embodiment. According to this embodiment, the
Figur 8 zeigt, wie nach Einführen der Gabelbaumachse in die Ringkammer des Lagerbocks 108 der Gabelbaum wiederum um 90° verschwenkt wurde und nunmehr mit dem abgerundeten Teil seiner Achse gegen die Gummimanschette 112 und damit gegen den Mast, von dem nur die geometrische Achse 102 angedeutet ist, drückt.FIG. 8 shows how, after insertion of the boom axis into the ring chamber of the
