Bei einer gattungsbildenden Ventilsteuerung, die aus der DE-PS 12 98 103 bekannt ist, taucht der Kipphebel mit seinem ventilseitigen Arm in eine zentrisch zur Achse der zylindrischen Traversenführung liegenden Vertiefung auf der Oberseite der Traverse ein. Ein Verdrehen der Traverse soll offensichtlich dadurch verhindert werden, daß die Seitenwände der zentrischen Vertiefung an den Seitenflanken des Kipphebelarms geführt sind. Diese Seitenführung der Traverse ist auf einen sehr kurzen, mittig gelegenen Abschnitt ihrer Länge beschränkt. Daraus resultieren sehr kleine' Hebelarme für die Verdrehsicherung der Traverse. Die kurzen Hebelarme in Verbindung mit dem funktioneil erforderliehen Spiel zwischen den benachbarten Seitenwänden der Vertiefung und den Seitenflanken des Kipphebels ergeben einen untolerierbar großen Verschwenkwinkel der Traverse. Bei verschwenkter Traverse liegen aber die Druckpunkte zwischen Traverse und Ventil^chaft seitlich versetzt zu den Ventilachsen. Der Kipphebel 14 wird ausgehend von einer nicht gezeigten Nockenwelle durch eine Stoßstange 15 bewegt. Die Bewegung des ventilseitigen Kipphebelarmes 16 wird durch ein Druckstück 17 auf eine Traverse 18 übertragen, die ihrerseits über Druckstücke 19, 20 mit den Schaftenden der Ventile 12, 13 zusammenwirkt.
