Abstract

Process for metering fuel during acceleration in a plurality of cylinders of an internal combustion engine with sequenced injection. The quantity of fuel to be injected is determined on the basis of the engine speed and acceleration, whereby after determination of the acceleration additional fuel is injected. An improvement in this process should enable a faster metering of the increased quantity of fuel injected into the engine during the acceleration process. For this purpose, the calculated quantity of fuel is injected into at least one cylinder and preferably into those cylinders for which the injected quantity has not yet been drawn in and whose intake valve has not yet been closed or whose intake cycle has not yet been completed. This takes place in particular at the moment when a trigger signal (TS) is produced corresponding to the determined quantity of additional fuel for acceleration.

Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

The invention relates to a method for fuel allocation during acceleration processes in a plurality of cylinders of an internal combustion engine according to the preamble of the main claim.

From DE-A-34 18 387 a "control method for fuel injection in multi-cylinder internal combustion engines of the sequential injection type during acceleration" is known. There, the amount of fuel supplied to the engine is adjusted to a value suitable for the determined operating state after the generation of a trigger signal and the sequential injections of the fuel quantity set in this way are effected in a predetermined sequence in synchronism with the trigger signal. When the acceleration state is recognized, a so-called double-spray is provided for the cylinder whose intake valve has not yet closed again and can therefore also take up an additional fuel quantity Injections that only begin after the acceleration detection are provided for the intermediate cylinder for the injection of an intermediate spatter and then for the subsequent ones an injection time extension (see Figure 3).

No. 4,463,732 discloses an injection control system in which an extension of the current injection is provided after detection of an acceleration request, otherwise an intermediate spatter is metered.

(Spalte 2, Zeile 60ff).DE 30 12 424 C2 relates to a "fuel injection control device for an internal combustion engine", in which, following an acceleration detection, the subsequent fuel injection occurs at the next reference signal. (Column 2, line 60ff).

Ferner zeigt die US-A-4 541 388 eine Kraftstoffeinspritzsteuereinheit mit dem Merkmal einer Beschleunigungsanreicherung, bei der der Einspritzbeginnwinkel entsprechend einer angegebenen Formel unter anderem drehzahlabhängig vorverlegbar ist (Spalte 4, Zeilen 62 bis Spalte 5, Zeile 30).Furthermore, US-A-4 541 388 shows a fuel injection control unit with the feature of an acceleration enrichment, in which the injection start angle can be advanced, among other things, depending on the speed according to a specified formula (column 4, lines 62 to column 5, line 30).

It has now been shown that the known fuel metering systems are unable to optimally cover all the requirements of an internal combustion engine control system.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

The method according to the invention for allocating fuel during acceleration processes with the characterizing features of the main claim has the advantage over the known method that an immediate and rapid allocation of the amount of fuel corresponding to the state of acceleration takes place and thus also enables an improvement in fuel processing. With the recognition of the acceleration state and the new calculation or new determination of the fuel quantity, the difference quantity to the fuel quantity determined in the previous work cycle is determined. This excess is allocated to the cylinders whose regular fuel injection has started and whose intake stroke has not yet been completed. This takes place on the one hand in the form of additional fuel injections for cylinders whose fuel allocation has been completed or by extending current fuel injections by the calculated additional quantity. Furthermore, the injection valves for all fuel injections, the start of which has been shifted into the past due to the new calculated fuel quantity, are immediately opened. During the acceleration process, particular importance is attached to a rapid allocation of the increased fuel quantity. This takes place primarily the termination of a fuel injection predetermined by the advance angle. The sequential injections of the set amount of fuel take place in a predetermined sequence at a time dependent on the operating point of the internal combustion engine within the work cycle specified by the trigger signal. The fuel injections, the beginning of which was still in the future before the acceleration state was recognized, are provided earlier than for a steady-state operating state or are started immediately in order to ensure that the injection process is ended before the inlet valve closes.

Zeichnungdrawing

The method according to the invention is shown in the drawing and is explained in more detail in the description below. The drawing shows a time diagram of the fuel allocation after detection of an acceleration state.

Beschreibung der ErfindungDescription of the invention

Last, Laständerungen, Drehzahl usw. erfasst werden. In the drawing, an internal combustion engine with four cylinders is assumed, the trigger signals TS being shown in the top line. This trigger signal TS is shifted early by an application-specific angle with respect to the top dead centers of the individual cylinders. The time period TK corresponds to a crankshaft rotation of 180 °. The opening times of the intake valves V1 to V4 are shown for each of the cylinders 1 to 4. The operating state of the internal combustion engine is recorded synchronously with the trigger signal TS. The definition of the acceleration state is based on the ak current operating state and the data of previous operating states, in particular the load, load changes, speed, etc. are recorded. If the acceleration state is defined and determined in the manner not to be explained further here, the fuel allocation is increased by an additional amount appropriate to the respective acceleration state during the acceleration state of the internal combustion engine. According to the invention, the allocation takes place for all the cylinders whose regular fuel allocation has started and whose intake process has not yet ended, ie the inlet valve is not yet closed. It is assumed below that the acceleration state is recognized at time t.

After this time t, the inlet valve V2 is just opened by the cylinder 2. On the basis of the recognized acceleration state, an additional fuel injection, called an intermediate spray, takes place immediately into the cylinder 2, as represented by the signal a. In the next work cycle, the on-time fuel injection, which is represented by the signal d, takes place again in the same cylinder, adapted to the new load. In the context of this invention, the on-schedule sequential fuel injection takes place in accordance with the fuel quantity, the battery voltage, the advance angle and the speed. The advance angle determines the position of the end of the sequential injection with respect to the opening of the associated intake valve. After each trigger signal, the fuel injection to be triggered is initiated within the subsequent work cycle.

In cylinder 3, fuel injection would end shortly after time t. Due to the detected acceleration state, however, the fuel injection still running in the cylinder 3 is extended, as represented by the signal b. Because of this extension of the fuel injection according to the invention, an increased amount of fuel is therefore immediately available.

Finally, the next fuel injection, which is indicated by the signal c, is started immediately in the cylinder 4. For this cylinder 4, the injection would normally only have started at a later point in time, ie without the acceleration state having been recognized and without the method according to the invention becoming effective. Due to the illustrated immediate start of fuel injection, the amount of fuel corresponding to the acceleration state is allocated quickly according to the invention.

It is essential that the newly calculated fuel quantity at time t is decisive for old fuel injections, the start of injection at or after this trigger signal! TS must be initiated and for all cylinders for which the timely injection has already been completed but whose intake valve is still open.
