Description

The invention relates to a device for the demagnetization of a picture tube of a television receiver and for the earthing of a conductive coating applied to the cone of said tube, comprising a demagnetization coil consisting of a strand of wires. electrical insulated, held together and forming at least one loop applied to the cone of the tube, and an electrical conductor connected to ground and placed in electrical contact with said coating.

A device fulfilling this function and comprising the above elements is described, for example, in the German utility model no. 070 30 109. The device described by this document uses a metal part in the shape of a spider, the legs of which are fixed. to slots in the image tube belt by means of hooks and laces, and are themselves provided with fingers ensuring the fixing of the demagnetization coil, as well as recesses making it possible to hang a conductive ribbon for setting the mass provided with a tension spring.

This device includes a mechanical support, the price of which is added to that of the coil and the grounding tape, and the assembly of the assembly requires a large number of operations: hooking the tabs and putting the laces in place. , then the reel, and finally the ribbon and its spring.

The invention proposes to provide an inexpensive device in itself, and the implementation of which is extremely simplified. To this end, the device according to the invention is notably remarkable in that said grounding conductor surrounds the strand of the demagnetization winding. Thus, this conductor does not require any particular fixing part, nor any specific mounting operation: it is found to be fixed at the same time as the coil. In addition, the contact between this conductor and the coating is ensured along several distinct lines in different regions of the coating, which reduces its electrical resistance.

In a preferred variant where the strand wires are held together by a strip of plastic material wound in a spiral around them, said conductor is advantageously a bare electric wire, wound in a spiral with the same pitch as the strip. Thus, it is possible to manufacture the winding without the addition of the conductor requiring any additional operation, and the price of the electric wire itself is almost negligible.

In another variant where the strand wires are held together by a plastic sheath which surrounds them, said conductor is advantageously constituted by said sheath itself, which is made conductive at least on the surface.

The device also has an indirect advantage. The good insulation of the winding, connected to the sector, is of great importance and standards provide for the testing of this insulation. Unfortunately, to perform this test, an electrical contact surface must be provided around the strand; this is why this test could only be carried out in the prior art by taking samples, to the detriment of safety. With the device of the invention, each winding is provided with a ground conductor which surrounds it and an insulation test on 100% of the parts is easy to carry out.

To ensure, without additional equipment and in a single operation, the fixing of the coil, that of the earthing conductor and also the earthing of the tube belt, in the case of a tube intended to be fixed by means of ears with which it is provided, the strand of the winding provided with the grounding conductor advantageously passes in front of the ears and is fixed by this only means. In addition, this has the advantage of ensuring the grounding of the tube anti-implosion belt without additional means.

When the device is provided with a connector for the electrical connection of the demagnetization coil, said conductor can advantageously also be connected to one of the terminals of said connector.

The invention also relates to a machine for manufacturing a demagnetization device according to the invention, with which the strand of the demagnetization winding is wrapped, a machine provided with a rotary magazine for cutting a strip of plastic material and winding it around in a spiral. of the strand, which is advantageously provided with a second rotary magazine driven with the first for cutting and winding a bare conductive wire in order to wind during a single winding operation the conductive wire and the strip of plastic material . Thus, only a slight increase in investment in the machine makes it possible to obtain an almost free means of grounding. This saves, for each television set, the price of a ground braid equipped with a specific spring, its fixing means and the fixing operation itself.

The description which follows, with reference to the appended drawings describing nonlimiting examples, will make it clear how the invention can be implemented.
  • Figure 1 shows a known picture tube, seen from above.
  • FIGS. 2A and 2B represent an image tube provided with a device according to the invention, seen from the rear.
  • Figures 3 and 4 each show a variant of a strand of the device according to the invention, of which they show a cut portion.
  • Figures 5 and 6 show very schematically parts related to the invention of a machine for wrapping a strand of son.

The cathode ray tube, or picture tube, of FIG. 1, is covered with a conductive coating 7, in general a graphite coating, on the major part of its cone 6. It is equipped with an anti metallic belt -implosion 5 which carries ears 31, 32 for fixing the tube. It must also be fitted with a demagnetization coil; this winding comprises a plurality of turns of insulated electrical wires, constituting a strand of wires held together, and the whole resembles a sort of hose which is applied to the cone 6 of the tube so as to form at least one loop therein.

As shown in FIG. 2A, this hose 4 can be placed so as to form two loops, one of which is located on the upper half of the cone, and the other on the lower half, the neck 13 of the tube not being included in a loop.

As shown in Figure 2B, the hose 4 can also be placed so as to form two loops, the neck of the tube being included in one of the two loops, which is larger than the other.

The belt 5 of the tube is here provided with ears 31 to 34 allowing the fixing of the tube in a cabinet or a frame. The strand 4, provided with the grounding conductor 1, passes in front of the ear 31 (the word "in front" means: "on the side of the front face of the tube", that is to say behind the ear in the figure), follows the belt towards the ear 32 in front of which it passes, crosses diagonally the cone towards the ear 34, passes in front of the ear 34, runs along the belt and passes forward from the ear 33 then crosses again, diagonally, the cone passing under the neck 13 towards the ear 31 where we find the starting point of this description of the path of the strand. Thus, the strand is fixed to the tube 6 by the mere fact that it passes in front of the ears. A spring 8 (fig. 2A), pulling the two diagonal branches of the path towards each other, ensures a tension of the winding which it applies to the graphite cone, thus allowing electrical contact between the wire 4 wound in a spiral around the strand and the graphite coating of the tube. Two collars 14 (fig. 2B) formed of a notched strap with irreversible tightening can also ensure the tension of the winding.

The winding is provided with a connector 2 to which the two ends of the insulated electrical wire which constitutes the winding are connected; it is interesting to take advantage of the presence of this connector to also connect the grounding conductor 1 to it, which provides a means of connecting this conductor to, for example, the mass of a chassis.

The insulated conducting wires 12 are surrounded by a strip of plastic material 10, wound in a spiral around them and which holds them together. The conductor 1 is a bare electrical wire, for example of tinned copper, which is wound in a spiral around the plastic strip 10. In addition, it is advantageous, to simplify the manufacture of the assembly, for this wire to be wound with the same step as strip 10.

Elle est reliée à la masse par tout moyen connu, par exemple en munissant un fil de masse 16 d'une pince élastique 15 (fig.2B) qui serre le toron en un point de sa longueur, ou bien en reliant le ressort 8 de la figure 2A à la masse.FIG. 4 represents a part cut in another variant of a strand according to the invention: the strand of insulated conductive wire 12 is here surrounded by a sheath 9 which holds the strands of the strand together; this cylindrical plastic sheath can be welded at 11 along a generator, for example by means of ultrasonic welding. According to the invention, this sheath is made of a material loaded with conductive particles or else it is metallized on the surface. It is connected to ground by any known means, for example by providing a ground wire 16 with an elastic clamp 15 (fig.2B) which clamps the strand at a point along its length, or else by connecting the spring 8 of Figure 2A to ground.

At least one means of connection with the mass of this kind is always necessary, even in the case where there is a wire 1 connected to the connector 2, since several masses must be joined to the coating of the cone and it is necessary that they be brought at different points. (Among other things, the mass of a "focus spark gap" located near the base of the image tube must not be connected to the same point of the sheath of the strand as the other masses). One can for this purpose also imagine metal collars 14 and which would be provided with lugs for connecting a ground wire of the kind of wire 16.

A machine for wrapping a strand as shown in fig. 3 is itself shown diagrammatically in FIGS. 5 and 6. In FIG. 5 a coil 17 delivers a ribbon 10 which is driven and guided by pulleys 18, then passes through an element 19 for measuring the length delivered and a system of section 20. The ribbon is then brought to a rotary circular magazine 25 consisting of a wheel carrying near its rim a plurality of idler pulleys 41 to 48.

The winding strand 4 to be wrapped crosses the magazine in its center, parallel to the axis of rotation of the magazine, that is to say perpendicular to the paper which carries the figure.

The dotted loop 39 indicates that the winding 4 is a ring which closes passing through the outside of the magazine 25. The winding 4 is introduced into the magazine before starting the machine through a notch 24 in the magazine wheel, and it is tensioned so that it is firmly held in the center of the magazine 25.

To start the winding, we bring, for example by hand, the primer of plastic tape on the strand of the winding 4 and we fix it for example by means of an adhesive tape. The magazine 25 is then rotated in the direction of the arrow 38 which simultaneously wraps the ribbon around the winding at 27 and stores ribbon on the idler pulleys as indicated by 26. A clamp system 40 ensures the tension of the ribbon. The winding 4 is advanced in synchronism in a direction indicated by the arrow 35 in Figure 6 which causes a spiral winding. Of course the length of ribbon used at each turn around the winding 4 is much shorter than that wound at 26 given the ratio of diameters. We must therefore cut the tape with the cutting system 20, when the length necessary to wrap all the winding 4 has been measured by the aforementioned measuring element 19. Then the magazine continues to rotate and the idler pulleys rotate on themselves ( here counterclockwise) to allow the ribbon to advance relative to the wheel 25.

The machine as described so far is known and available commercially and therefore does not require further explanation. In particular the various supports and motors using common mechanical solutions are not shown.

According to the invention, a second magazine is added to this machine for cutting and winding a bare conducting wire, advantageously constituted here by a set of second idler pulleys placed on the same axes as the first. They are visible in Figure 6 where the references 41 to 48 of the pulleys of Figure 5 are split with an additional reference "A" or "B" (some of them only are shown so as not to overload the figure).

The pulleys referenced "A" correspond to the prior art and support the plastic tape, those referenced "B" constitute the second magazine.

A coil 21 of wire 1 delivers the bare electric wire via guides 22 followed by a system similar to that intended for the ribbon where the references 23, 29, 30 correspond respectively to the references 18, 19, 20.

Thus the wire 1 and the strip 10 are wound in a single winding operation.

The references 1, 36, 37 of FIG. 6 correspond respectively for the wire to the references 10, 26, 27 for the plastic strip.

At the start of winding, a few turns are made with the ribbon and the wire is fixed to the winding strand 4 only then. This way of doing things ensures that the wire is not covered by the next turn of ribbon.
