Abstract

The invention relates mainly to a method and a device for viewing targets and / or target positions using data acquisition means of a weapon system. The device according to the present invention makes it possible to visualize the target or the direction of the target acquired by homing missiles. As this information comes in addition, other information on the position of the target makes it possible to verify the correct attachment of the seeker 12 as well as to compensate for a lack of information caused for example by a failure of the display systems (5, 6 , 10). The invention mainly applies to the production of anti-aircraft defense platforms or to the production of anti-aircraft and anti-tank platforms.

Description

The invention relates mainly to a method and a device for viewing targets and / or target positions using data acquisition means of a weapon system.

On the one hand, it is known to equip missiles with means of data acquisition allowing the localization in site and in target deposit.

On the other hand, are known the data acquisition means making it possible to visualize before the launch of a missile, a target and / or the position of the target.

Ces moyens d'acquisition des données permettaient l'identification de la cible en tant que amis ou ennemis et le choix parmi les ennemis de la cible que l'on veut détruire prioritairement ;
- l'accrochage des moyens d'acquisition des données du missile sur la cible choisie ;
These data acquisition means allowed the identification of the target as friends or enemies and the choice among the enemies of the target that we want to destroy as a priority;
- the attachment of the missile data acquisition means to the chosen target;
- checking that the missile data acquisition means are properly attached to the targeted target.

The device according to the present invention makes it possible, before the launch of the missile, to collect information coming from the missile data acquisition means to supplement the information collected by the data acquisition means of the launch platform (in particular the means fire control).

The device according to the present invention makes it possible in particular to collect additional information on the target, for example information from a detector in another frequency band, to collect information when the data acquisition devices of the launch site do not are not pointed towards the target or when said data acquisition means have been destroyed.

The main object of the invention is a lan device seeker missile cement including directing means, essentially characterized by the fact that it comprises means allowing the visualization on display on the means of visualization of the targets and / or of the positions of the targets provided by the missile.

The subject of the invention is also a method for viewing targets and / or positions of targets on means for viewing a missile launch platform, characterized in that the data acquisition means are used of a weapon system.

The invention will be better understood by means of the description below and the appended figures given as nonlimiting examples among which:
  • - Figure 1 is an example of a missile launch platform according to the invention comprising a plurality of data acquisition means;
  • - Figure 2 is a perspective view of a shooting platform comprising a single means of data acquisition;

  • - Figure 4 is a diagram of an example of information contained by a display screen;
  • - Figure 5 is a diagram of an example of information contained on a display screen.

In FIGS. 1 to 5, the same references have been used to designate the same elements.

In Figure 1, we can see a launch pad 7 of missiles 1, 2, 3 and 4. Missiles 1, 2, 3 and 4 are for example anti-aircraft missiles. The shooting platform 7 is connected by a line 9 to a control device 8. The control device 8 comprises in particular a computer capable of collecting information which is transmitted to it and of sending by a line 9 control signals to firing platform control circuits 7.

On the other hand, the control device 8 is advantageously connected to other data acquisition devices such as for example a radar 10, to an optical objective designation device 42 (helmet), a laser rangefinder 43 or a friend-enemy detection device 44 (IFF in English terminology). In the example of FIG. 1, the radar 10 is connected to the control device 8 by radio communication means 11.

The control device 8 is connected to human-machine interfaces. For example, the device 8 is connected to a screen 17 with cathode ray tube for viewing the images collected by the cameras 5 and / or 6, a screen 18 with jumper scanning making it possible to view the information collected by the radar 10, a keyboard 19 and a control lever 20.

- l'autodirecteur 12 du missile 4 est activé ;
- la plateforme de tir 7 est pointée dans la direction de l'aéronef permettant l'accrochage de l'autodirecteur 12 sur l'aéronef ;
There are various types of missiles, in particular missiles comprising an infrared seeker, a radar seeker, a visible seeker or an image processing device. During the procedure for firing a missile, for example 4, towards an aircraft, not shown:
- the seeker 12 of missile 4 is activated;
- the firing platform 7 is pointed in the direction of the aircraft allowing the hooking of the seeker 12 on the aircraft;
- The firing platform 7 performs a pointing allowing the missile 4 to have an advance angle facilitating the interception of the aircraft.

When the firing platform 7 performs a pointing allowing the missile 4 to have an angle of advance the television cameras 5 and 6 are no longer pointed in the direction of the missile. Thus, it is no longer possible to control, until the moment of firing, whether the seeker 12 of the missile 4 is still attached to the target.

The dropout of the seeker 12 can be caused for example by the movement of the firing platform 7, a sudden movement of avoidance of the aircraft, by the passage of the aircraft behind an obstacle such as for example a thicket of trees by the attachment of the seeker 12 to a more powerful source of radiation such as another aircraft or decoys.

By collecting and viewing information transmitted by the seeker 12 of the missile 4 before firing the control device 8 makes it possible to verify until the moment of the firing that the seeker 12 is indeed hooked on the targeted target.

In addition, the device according to the present invention makes it possible to operate in degraded mode. Thus, it is always possible for the operator to point the firing platform 7 towards an aircraft with the joystick 20 in the event of the unavailability of the television cameras 5 and 6, it suffices for example that it is superimposed on screen 17 a reticle 15 indicating the position of the target given by means of acquisition of the missile data (seeker) with the center of the screen 30 corresponding to the pointing direction of the turret.

In an alternative embodiment of the device according to the invention, the control device 8 automatically points the firing platform 7 towards the aircraft according to the information transmitted by the seeker 12.

It is understood that the seeker 12 can transmit information only if it is activated. The activation of the seeker of a missile is obtained by the use of a sequencer for example included in the control device 8. The automatic pointing of the firing platform is thus particularly advantageous in the case of use infrared seeker with reduced lifespan.

In Figure 1, missiles 1 and 2 are shown in storage containers. It is understood that the seeker 12 of missiles 1 and 2 will only be able to collect information after the protective tubes have been dropped. Missiles 3 and 4 corresponding to an alternative embodiment without a protective tube.

The use of another type, of other types, or of a greater quantity of missiles is not beyond the scope of the present invention.

In FIG. 2, one can see a firing platform 7 comprising four missiles 1, 2, 3 and 4 and a television camera 5. The television camera 5 is for example a camera sensitive to visible light. Thus the shooting platform 7 of FIG. 2 is an economical version of the shooting platform 7 of FIG. 1. These performances are lower than those of the shooting platform 7 of FIG. 1, in particular at night. In the case of the use of missiles comprising a passive infrared seeker it is possible, at night, to use said seeker to determine the position of the target, make the decision to fire, give an angle of advance to the interceptor missiles of the target.

In FIG. 3, one can see an example of information displayed by a display screen 13. The screen 13, for example with cathode ray tube, displays an aircraft 14 as well as a reticle 15. The aircraft 14 is for example automatically tracked in deposit and in elevation by the firing platform 7. The reticle 15 shows the pointing position of the missile seeker. In the event that the image of the aircraft 14 is not usable, it is possible to superimpose the reticle 15 with the center of the screen 13 to obtain a pointing of the platform 7 in the direction of the aircraft 14. Advantageously, the superposition of the reticle 15 with the center of the screen 13 is facilitated by the presence of a reticle 30 at said center.

In FIG. 4, one can see an example of information displayed by a display screen during the introduction of the angle of advance of the platform 7. The aircraft 14 is no longer in the center of the screen 13 In the example illustrated in FIG. 4, the magnification provided by the television camera, for example the camera 5, is less than the magnification in FIG. 3. The aircraft is on the edge of the image. The reticle 15 is superimposed on the aircraft 14. Depending on the distance and the speed of the aircraft it is possible that the latter completely disappears from the screen 13. In this case the reticle 15 is for example on the edge of the image.

Ainsi une fois l'accrochage effectué le réticule 15 est superposé sur l'écran 16 à l'écho 14.In Figure 5, we can see the radar display screen (PPI in English terminology). Screen 16 of the radar shows four echoes 14, 141, 142 and 143. In the example illustrated in FIG. 5, the operator has chosen the aircraft corresponding to echo 14 as target. Once the attachment has been made, the reticle 15 is superimposed on the screen 16 at the echo 14.

The invention also applies to terrestrial, maritime or mixed targets. The invention applies to platforms 7 for launching missiles 1, 2, 3 and 4 comprising a seeker 12, means for viewing the targets 5, 6, 10, 13 and 16.

The device according to the present invention applies mainly to anti-aircraft defense platforms comprising missiles with passive infrared seeker 12 as well as anti-aircraft and anti-tank firing platforms.
