Seit Bestehen des Tennissports existiert das Problem der Besaitung. Bis jetzt gibt es vor allem zwei Arten von Besaitungsmaterial, nämlich Darmsaiten und Kunststoffsaiten. Man erkennt in Fig. 1 eine Tennissaite 1, die aus einem Kern 2 von etwa 1,1 mm Durchmesser und einer Beschichtung 3 von etwa 0,15 mm Dicke zusammengesetzt ist, so daß der Gesamtdurchmesser etwa 1,4 mm beträgt. Es können auch davon abweichende Abmessungen verwendet werden. Der Kern 2 besteht aus einer großen Zahl haarfeiner, verzwirnter, z.B. etwa 10 000 geflochtener "KEVLAR"-Aramidfasern, und die Beschichtung 3 besteht beispielsweise aus einem durch Extrudieren bei etwa 360° C aufgebrachten Fluorkohlenstoffharz, insbesondere Polytetrafluorethylen oder Fluorethylenpropylen oder einem Copolymeren aus Ethylen und Tetrafluorethylen mit glatter Oberfläche. Diese Tennissaite weist eine Reißfestigkeit von 120 kg (1177 N) bei geringer Bruchdehnung sowie guter Ermüdungsbeständigkeit, Vibrationsdämpfung und Schlagzähigkeit auf.1 shows a
