Description

The present invention relates to an improved device allowing the positioning and the maintenance of a wire support tube during a reeling or reeling operation during which said support (tube) is rotated.

In the following description, the invention will be described for a device, which will be designated by the expression "expandable mandrel" used during a reeling operation during which the mandrel is rotated by its axis but it It is obvious that such a device could also be used during a winding operation.

Such expandable mandrels are used on many textile machines such as twists, assemblers, stranding machines. Given the increase in production speed, the weight and the diameter of the windings coming from spinning, it is imperative to have a perfect coincidence of the axes of the mandrel and of the wire support tube as well as a perfect immobilization of these two elements in relation to each other both during the running stroke and when starting or stopping. In addition, another also very important problem is that of the ease of positioning the support on the mandrel as well as of its extraction, an operation which is sometimes disturbed by the fact that the support tubes are not always perfectly cylindrical, in particular when they are made of cardboard.

Various solutions have been proposed to date to solve these problems.

One of these solutions, described in US Pat. No. 3,356,309, consists in using a mandrel tangentially provided with two equal (flat) surfaces extending over the entire length of the mandrel, symmetrically with respect to its axis, of such that after the support carrying the wire has been placed on said mandrel, the longitudinal edges of these surfaces come over their entire extent in contact with the cylindrical surfaces of the support, thus ensuring perfect coincidence of the axes of the two elements mandrel and support .

However, during periods of intensive work, in particular as a result of the vibrations of the installations, untimely tensions sometimes suffered by the coiled wires, relative displacements may occur, either axial or angular, or both of the support relative to the mandrel. .

It then results from irregular windings and variations in density and / or characteristics of the wire produced which can give rise to defects during subsequent treatments or during the use of the wire.

In addition, the edges of the surfaces deteriorate very quickly.

Finally, such a solution is not suitable in the case of large-diameter support tubes which, to date, can reach more than three hundred millimeters, because then the tube bears only on four edges and may tend to s' overwrite and / or slide over at the edges.

Recently, in FR-A-2 572 374, an improvement has been proposed to such a type of mandrel, improvement according to the law, a plurality of flexible lamellae, parallel to each other, extending over all, are provided at the periphery of said mandrel. its length and whose free edges press against the inside of the wire support tube.

This solution, in use, has also not proved satisfactory, the flexible edges tending to deteriorate rapidly.

As a result, the solution still most commonly used to date to ensure the positioning and the maintenance of a wire support tube consists in having, on the surface of the mandrel, flat springs which have well-known drawbacks d '' be expensive to carry out and involve a replacement when springs deteriorate quickly. Furthermore, during sudden accelerations, in particular when starting or stopping, the problem of rotary slippage of the support tube relative to the mandrel still remains. Finally, the positioning being done by force, it is sometimes difficult or even impossible to achieve if the support tube is not perfectly cylindrical.

However, we have found, and this is what is the subject of the present invention, a new type of mandrel of a particularly simple design which overcomes the drawbacks of the prior devices and, moreover, makes it easy to automate the setting. in place and removal of the mandrel support tubes.

In general, the invention therefore relates to a new type of mandrel intended to serve as a holding element for a hollow cylindrical support tube around which wire is wound, usable in particular for unwinding said wire on unwinding, said mandrel being mounted on a shaft allowing it to rotate, and it is characterized in that:
- The mandrel consists of two elementary sleeves, mounted opposite one another on the drive shaft, said sleeves comprising peripheral fingers regularly spaced from each other, the fingers of a sleeve pressing against the area between the fingers of the other sleeve,
at least one of the elementary sleeves being mounted free in translation on the drive shaft and the assembly is subjected to the action of thrust means tending to keep the two sleeves spaced from one another, so that the ends of the fingers tend to move away from the axis of the mandrel and to block the cylindrical support tube disposed around said mandrel.

De préférence, conformément à l'invention :
- les deux manchons élémentaires sont identiques si ce n'est que les extrémités des doigts de l'un des manchons comportent les butées d'arrêt pour le tube support de fil ;
- les manchons élémentaires sont réalisés en matière plastique, par moulage ;
Preferably, in accordance with the invention:
- the two elementary sleeves are identical except that the ends of the fingers of one of the sleeves include the stops for the wire support tube;
- the elementary sleeves are made of plastic, by molding;
- Means tending to keep the two elementary sleeves separated from one another are constituted by a spring.

  • - la figure 1 est une vue schématique en perspective d'une position de travail d'une retordeuse nécessitant un mandrin conforme à l'invention ;
  • - la figure 2 est une vue en perspective schématique d'un tel mandrin ;
The invention and the advantages which it brings will however be better understood thanks to the example of embodiment given below by way of indication and not limita tif and which is illustrated by the attached diagrams in which:
  • - Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of a working position of a twisting machine requiring a mandrel according to the invention;
  • - Figure 2 is a schematic perspective view of such a mandrel;
  • - Figure 3 is a section along its longitudinal plane of symmetry, of a mandrel according to the invention.

Pour ce faire, l'enroulement de fil (1) est monté sur un mandrin support conforme à l'invention, qui sera vu plus en détail dans la suite de la description, ledit mandrin étant entraîné en rotation par un arbre moteur (4) commandé par tout moyen approprié (motoréducteur par exemple).Referring to the appended diagrams, FIG. 1 illustrates, in perspective, a working position of a twisting machine in which a winding of wire (1) formed on a support tube (2), made of cardboard for example, must be unwound at the unwinding to be returned to a spindle (3), ring and slider, to communicate a twist. To do this, the wire winding (1) is mounted on a support mandrel according to the invention, which will be seen in more detail in the following description, said mandrel being driven in rotation by a motor shaft (4). controlled by any appropriate means (geared motor for example).

In order to allow easy positioning and removal of the wire support tube around the mandrel M, as well as effective centering and immobilization of this tube during operation, said mandrel M is constituted, in accordance with the invention, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, two elementary sleeves (5a, 5b), mounted opposite one another at the end (6) of the drive shaft (4). These two sleeves (5a, 5b) are made of molded plastic, from identical parts and, in the remainder of the description, the same references assigned with indices a e b will be used to designate the same elements which characterize their structure.

These two sleeves (5a) and (5b) comprise a hub (7a, 7b) allowing their mounting on the end (6) of the drive shaft (4), a bottom (8a, 8b) and a plurality of peripheral fingers (9a, 9b)). The machons (5a, 5b) are mounted in opposition to the end (6) of the shaft (4), so that the peripheral fingers (9a, 9b) are nested one inside the other and bear against the junction area between the fingers of the opposite sleeve. In other words, the fingers (9a) bear against the junction zone (10b) formed between the fingers (9b) of the sleeve (5b) and vice versa for the fingers (9b). One of the machons, (5a) for example, is fixedly mounted on the end (6) of the drive shaft (4) while the other sleeve, (5b) in the present case, is mounted free in translation. A spring (14) is applied between the internal faces of the bottoms (5a) and (5b) and tends to keep the two sleeves normally spaced from one another, so that the stops (11a, 11b) provided on the underside of each of the fingers (9a, 9b) bear against the ramps (12a, 12b) provided against the bottoms (5a, 5b), which tends to spread the relative to the axis XX of the mandrel ends of said fingers. In normal operation, the wire support tube is therefore perfectly maintained and centered around the mandrel M. When it is desired to install or remove the support tube, the two sleeves (5a, 5b) are brought into the position shown in Figures 2 and 3, that is to say that the sliding sleeve (5b) is pushed back, for example by means of jacks so as to compress the internal spring (11) so that the ends of the flexible fingers are no longer subjected to the action of the ramps and tend to resume their initial position parallel to the axis XX of the mandrel.

In order to properly position the wire support (2), the ends of the fingers (9b) of the sleeve (5b) have peripheral stops (13) while these stops have been removed, by machining, at the ends of the fingers of the sleeve (5a ).

Such a mandrel of particularly simple design has a very high efficiency, is easy to maintain and assemble and moreover allows automatic self-centering during the positioning of the wire support tubes. Of course, the dimensions of the mandrel are determined as a function of the diameter and the length of the support slats. Furthermore, if such a type of mandrel is particularly suitable for equipping the unwinding part of a collating-twisting unit, it could be envisaged to maintain the winding support tubes in a similar manner.
