Description

The invention relates to a method for detecting and rejecting defective cigarettes in the area of a cigarette magazine.

Such a method is known from EP-A-0 198 282, which has been subsequently published according to Article 54 (3) EPC, in which the cigarette groups collecting in magazine chutes are pushed out in a lower part of the cigarette magazine, Magazine at a distance above the magazine chutes a test unit extending across the cigarette magazine with upright test chutes, each for receiving an upright test series of cigarettes, and with test organs assigned to each test chute for the cigarettes, and the tested ones Cigarettes are moved by cross-movable support webs and comb webs from the position aligned with the test series of the cigarettes into an offset delivery position, in which the cigarettes are supported at the bottom by the support webs and transported downwards by moving them.

The invention further relates to a device for detecting and rejecting faulty cigarettes.

It is necessary and customary to check cigarettes for proper training before packaging them. This cigarette test mainly takes place after formation of the cigarette groups, for example in the area of a cigarette revolver. However, it is also already known from EP-A-0 198 282 mentioned at the beginning to check cigarettes in the area of the cigarette magazine and to sort out any missing cigarettes here. The invention is concerned with the testing of cigarettes and the selection of faulty cigarettes in the area of the cigarette magazine.

The object of the invention is to carry out the cigarette test with higher performance and at the same time to ensure gentle treatment of the sensitive cigarettes.

To achieve this object, in the method according to the invention, the cigarettes are checked in the test shafts after transverse shifting of the previously checked cigarettes which are still in the delivery position.

Accordingly, the cigarettes are passed within the cigarette magazine into the test unit consisting of upright test shafts and checked here for proper training. The tested cigarettes are then released downwards after any faulty cigarettes have been ejected. They fall under their own weight on a stock of tested cigarettes above the magazine shafts. The upright Rows of cigarettes in the test wells are stopped in the meantime. The test is therefore carried out during the delivery of the cigarettes that have already been tested.

The device according to the invention for detecting and rejecting defective cigarettes in the area of a cigarette magazine has a lower part consisting of upright magazine chutes for the formation of cigarette groups and for the ejection thereof, with the cigarette magazine at a distance above the magazine chutes a test unit extending across the cigarette magazine with upright test wells, each for receiving an upright test series of cigarettes, and with test organs assigned to each test well is arranged for the cigarettes, and the tested cigarettes are arranged through transverse webs and comb webs arranged below the test wells with the test row of the cigarettes in the same position can be moved into an offset delivery position in which the cigarettes are supported at the bottom by support webs and can be conveyed downwards by moving them. The support webs are arranged directly below the comb webs in such a way that the tested cigarettes, together with the comb and support webs, can only be moved into the delivery position by transverse movement. The device according to the invention makes it possible to transfer the tested cigarettes to the lower part of the cigarette magazine, while at the same time cigarettes lying above are checked in the area of the test chutes during the standstill.

Further features of the invention relate to the design of the cigarette magazine and to details of the test unit within the same.

Before the formation of cigarette groups 10 from a number of cigarettes 11 corresponding to the content of a cigarette packet, these are filled into a cigarette magazine 12. This is provided in the lower area with upright magazine chutes, each for receiving an upright row of cigarettes 14. Several magazine chutes 13 corresponding to the contents of a cigarette packet are combined into chute groups 15. At the lower end, the cigarette groups 10 are ejected from the magazine shafts 13 in a conventional manner by means of suitable ejection elements 16 and fed to the packaging.

In the present case, the cigarette magazine 12 is designed in a special way and is provided with a test unit 17 on the inside approximately halfway up, at least at a distance above the shaft groups 15. This temporarily picks up the cigarettes 11 flowing under their own weight from top to bottom within the cigarette magazine 12 and checks them for correct formation (tobacco, filter, etc.). Any defective cigarettes (defective cigarettes 18) are identified in the area of the test unit 17 and sorted out here, so that only checked, ie correct, cigarettes are fed to the magazine chutes 13.

To carry out the test, the cigarettes 11 are temporarily stopped in the area of the test unit 17, so that the test takes place during a resting phase of the cigarettes. The missing cigarettes 18 are discarded in the area of a delivery level, namely by being pushed out in the axial direction. The intact cigarettes are released downwards and fall under their own weight onto a cigarette supply 20 formed above the magazine chutes 13. This is checked for its level, e.g. B. by light barriers 21 and 22, each responsible for the lower, minimum and upper, maximum cigarette levels.

The cigarettes 11 are introduced into the cigarette magazine 12 via an upper filling opening 23. This consists of an approximately drop-shaped housing 24 in the present case. The test unit 17 is arranged in the region of the largest transverse dimension of the housing. On the inside of the housing 24 there are baffles 25 which lead to the test unit 17 which extends over the full width of the cigarette magazine 12.

The axially parallel cigarettes 11 flowing through the test unit 17 are broken down into individual, upright test rows 26. The number of these corresponds approximately to the number of magazine shafts 13. For this purpose, upright test shafts 28 are arranged parallel and at equal distances from one another within a block 27. Movable, in particular rotatable, guide rods 29 are attached to the upper inlet ends of the test wells 28, which ensure safe, gentle insertion of the cigarettes into the test wells 28.

Within the test wells 28, the test rows 26 are moved past test organs 30 which are attached laterally to the housing 24, namely in side walls 31 and 32 of the housing 24, so that the test organs 30 act on the end faces of the cigarettes 11. The test organs 30 are preferably designed as optoelectric sensors and connected to evaluation units 33. In the present, preferred exemplary embodiment, each test row 26 is assigned two test organs 30 arranged directly one above the other, so that two cigarettes 11 one above the other are each tested simultaneously, specifically in one test plane 34.

The lower part of the test unit 17 is designed as a delivery and ejection element 35 for the cigarettes after the test has been carried out. This ensures that the cigarettes 11 in the test rows 26 during the test, that is during the current standstill, the height is exactly aligned with the test organs 30. Furthermore, checked and correct cigarettes are delivered to the cigarette store 20, while a next group of (two) cigarettes 11 is checked approximately simultaneously.

For this purpose, the delivery and ejection member 35 consists of two guide and support members 36 and 37 which can be moved in transverse planes relative to one another and to the rest of the test unit 17. These are comb-shaped and consist of comb webs 38 or support webs assigned to the individual test wells 28 39. The guide and support members 36, 37 or their comb webs 38 or support webs 39 are displaceable in accordance with the directional arrows 40 and 41 shown in FIGS. 4, 5 and 6. The webs 38 and 39 are of the same width as the partition walls 42 formed between the test wells 28. The ridge webs 38 directly below the partition walls 42 are designed with a construction height that corresponds to the height of the number of cigarettes 11 tested simultaneously per test series 26, in the present case So drop the height of two stacked cigarettes. In contrast, the lower guide and support member 37 with the support webs 39 is designed with a lower construction height. Both guiding and supporting members 36, 37 are led out laterally from the cigarette magazine 12 and are driven by suitable members, e.g. B by pressure medium cylinder.

The various positions and functions of the guide and support members 36, 37 can best be explained with reference to FIGS. 4 to 6. 4 shows a relative position before the start of the cigarette test. The comb webs 38 are aligned with the partition walls 42, so that the test wells 28 extend all the way to the support webs 39. The latter are moved offset to the ridge webs 38 and are therefore located in the area of the test wells 28, so that the cigarettes located in them (test series 26) rest on the support webs 39.

To perform the test, the comb webs 38 are moved from the position shown in FIG. 4 to the right into the position shown in FIG. 5. The comb webs 38 are now in the (vertical) plane of the test wells 28, so that they are above the comb webs Support 38 cigarettes on the ridges 38. The relative position is now selected so that the cigarettes in the test plane 34 are exactly aligned with the test organs 30. At the same time (position according to FIG. 5), the support webs 39 are also shifted to the right. They are now located below the partition walls 42 and serve to support the two superposed cigarettes between adjacent comb webs 38. These already checked cigarettes, including any missing cigarettes 18, have been moved with the comb webs 38 into the offset position shown. In the position according to FIG. 5, the missing cigarettes 18 are conveyed out of the cigarette magazine 12 in the axial direction.

In the position shown in FIG. 6, the tested, intact cigarettes 11 are transferred to the cigarette store 20. For this purpose, the support webs 39 are displaced transversely from the position according to FIG. 5, opening the partial shafts delimited by the comb webs 38. The cigarettes in these can now be ejected downwards. In the exemplary embodiment shown, blowing nozzles 43 are arranged in the partition walls 42 for this purpose. Since the cigarettes to be dispensed are located in the area below the partition walls 42, the blowing nozzles 43 or the compressed air emitted by them are effective immediately in the sense of discharging the cigarettes. As can be seen from FIG. 2, two blowing nozzles 43 are arranged at a distance from one another in each partition wall 42. These are supplied via a common compressed air connection 44.

After delivery of the tested cigarettes according to FIG. 6, the guide and support member 36 with the comb webs 38 is moved back into the position according to FIG. 4. As a result, two cigarettes can fall down in each test shaft 28 until they rest on the support webs 39, which are unchanged from FIG. 6.

The present embodiment of the device is oriented towards two groups with regard to the testing of the cigarettes 11 and the throughput thereof through the testing unit 17. The test level 34 is arranged at a distance - corresponding to the diameter of two cigarettes - above the delivery level 19. According to this, the tested cigarettes only reach the area of the delivery and ejection organ 35 after two production cycles.

The guide and support members 36, 37, which are movable relative to one another, are, as shown in FIG. 2, displaceably mounted and supported outside of the cigarette magazine 12 next to the side wall 32 on two parallel support rods 45, 46. The side wall 32 is provided in this area with a recess 47 for the passage of the guide and support members 36, 37.

The missing cigarettes 18 can be ejected in the region of the guide and support member 36 in various ways. In the present case, two ejector nozzles 48, 49 lying one above the other are arranged in the side wall 32 of the cigarette magazine 12, in each case in the height and position of the tested cigarettes between the comb webs 38. On the opposite side there is an ejector opening 50 in the side wall 31 intended.
