Die Spannleisten besitzen gegenüber den Einsatzstücken soviel Bewegungsspiel, daß die zu spannende Platte mit ihren spitzwinklig abgebogenen Randklauen an den jeweils zugeordneten Schnabelkanten eingehängt werden kann. Um dennoch einen durchgehenden Schlitz zwischen der Rückseite der Spannleisten und der jeweils benachbarten zylinderfesten Wandung zu vermeiden, ist eine gegenseitige Verzinkung vorgesehen. Zum Verschieben der Spannleisten in Spannrichtung ist diesen jeweils eine zylinderseitig abgestützte, radial an der Rückseite des stehenden Schenkels der Spannleisten angreifende, über die ganze Zylinderbreite durchgehende Spannspindel zugeordnet, die einen unrunden Querschnitt aufweist, so daß durch Verdrehen der Spannspindeln eine Verschiebung der jeweils zugeordneten Spannleiste bewerkstelligt wird. Die durchgehenden Spannspindeln sind auf ihrer ganzen Länge zylinderseitig abgestützt, so daß eine Durchbiegung unterbleibt. Die Umfangskontur der beiden Spannleisten erreicht dadurch bei jedem Spannvorgang automatisch dieselbe Stellung. Hierdurch ist sichergestellt, daß sich in der Spannstellung keine Unstetigkeit des Zylinderumfangs ergibt. Die Spannspindeln sind im Bereich eines Endes mit einem die Zylinderseite überragenden Kopf versehen, an dem ein Schlüssel angesetzt werden kann, mit Hilfe dessen eine Verdrehung der Spannspindeln möglich ist. Mittels einer speziellen Anordnung wird die entsprechende Spannspindel gegen unbeabsichtiges Verdrehen fixiert, so daß eine selbsttätige Rückstellung aus der Spannstellung in die Entspannstellung nicht möglich ist. Apparatus for clamping printing plates (9) for rotary printing presses, having one or more clamping strips (2) which are arranged so that they are laterally displaceable in a cylinder recess (1), which grip under an end region of the printing plate to be clamped and whose outer contour has a curvature corresponding to the cylinder curvature and is bordered by a pressure surface (3) which engages a bent-over edge claw of the printing plate to be clamped, a hose (7) being inserted between the pressure surfaces of the clamping strips and a compression strip (6) which is adjustable radially with respect to the cylinder circumference, and the compression strip being in the form of a pressure element for the hose, wherein the hose is provided with openings formed radially in the direction of the printing plate and is filled with a gap-sealing material, and the clamping strip is adjustable in the clamping direction of the printing plates by means of two or more hydraulic cylinders (8) which are supported at their rear and on the adjacent cylinder wall.
