Description

The present invention relates to a container or packaging, impervious to radiation at least in a sealing zone, and intended to protect its content against them, produced with a laminate comprising at least one layer impermeable to this radiation.

Already known, in particular from the US patents 3,845,316 and British 1,561,872, a radiation-tight container, in this case X-rays, produced from a laminate comprising a sheet impermeable to radiation, in this case a sheet of lead or aluminum, placed between two sheets of plastic, in this case polyethylene or polyester.

Such a container, or packaging, or cover, can be used to contain photographic film, electronic equipment, magnetic recording media, such as discs, tapes or cassettes, etc., for their transport, shipment , their archiving, and protect them against external electromagnetic and ionizing radiation, for example when going through airport security checks.

However, this packaging, formed as previously described, has serious drawbacks and in particular the following. If it constitutes a barrier against radiation, moreover more or less effective, in particular in the case of particularly sensitive photographic films, it favors, because of the internal layer of plastic material, and concomitantly with the introduction into the container. of plastic materials or devices, of electrostatic charges prejudicial to the good conservation of the information of these materials and other supports. In short, such a container, while offering a solution to one problem, nevertheless creates another.

British patent application 2,060,488 discloses a container for light-sensitive materials produced in a laminate, the inner layer of which is made of high density polyethylene loaded with carbon, which makes it less electrifiable and gives it certain properties. antistatic.

However, if these antistatic properties are sufficient to avoid damaging contents such as photographic films or sensitive papers which the invention of this last document aims to protect, it is not the same when the contents are equipment. electronic, computer discs, tapes or cassettes.

The present invention therefore aims to provide a container treating both the problem of protection against radiation and the problem of electrostatic charges.

The present invention therefore relates to a container or packaging, impervious to radiation at least in a sealing zone and intended to protect its content against them, produced with a laminate comprising, in said sealing zone, at least one impermeable layer. to these radiations, characterized in that the internal layer of the laminate of the container is an electrically conductive layer and the impermeable layer extends only over a so-called filtering zone.

In this case, the container of the invention, provided with an electrically conductive internal layer, and preferably metallic, is truly non-electrifiable, and the contents mentioned above can be stored there without risk.

For the purposes of the present invention, the term “non-electrifiable material” means any material that is not electrifiable both by influence and by contact, that is to say that it cannot undergo, or practically not, electrification by influence or by contact.

In addition, the impermeable layer extending only over a filtering zone, it only protects certain parts of the contents of the container by carrying out local filtering of the desired radiation. Thus, and in addition to the applications already mentioned, the container of the invention finds another application in the thawing and cooking by microwave radiation of frozen products, so as to selectively expose directly and also by reflection on the partial sealed area certain parts of the products and obtain a more intense cooking of these, for example to brown a cooked dish.

In a preferred embodiment of the container of the invention, the laminate comprises an outer layer of relatively rigid thermal insulating material.

In this case, and this external layer being made of rigid paper or cardboard, in addition to being practically fireproof, the container of the invention has the advantage of being able to easily receive, on its external layer serving as a support for commercial information. , not to mention its mailing which is also facilitated.

Avantageusement encore, les couches du stratifié du récipient de l'invention sont assemblées par une colle sans solvant, contrairement au récipient connu, ce qui élimine tout risque de migration de solvant non seulement sur le contenu global du récipient mais encore, et plus particulièrement, sur le liant des particules métalliques des supports magnétiques quand il y en a.Advantageously still, the layers of the laminate of the container of the invention are assembled by an adhesive without solvent, contrary to the known container, which eliminates any risk of migration of solvent not only on the overall content of the container but also, and more particularly, on the binder of metallic particles of magnetic supports when there are.

  • la figure 1 représente une vue en perspective schématique d'une pochette selon l'invention;
The present invention will be better understood with the aid of the following description of a preferred embodiment of the container of the invention, with reference to the appended drawings, in which:
  • Figure 1 shows a schematic perspective view of a pocket according to the invention;
  • FIG. 2 represents a sectional view of the pouch of FIG. 1, and
  • 3 shows a sectional view of a second pocket according to the invention.

The laminate, in which a strip is cut from which one forms, or realizes, the container, or packaging, will only be described after precisely the process for producing the container of the invention, and more particularly here of a pouch intended to protect a frozen food product.

We therefore start with a rectangular strip cut from a laminate. In FIG. 1, and for the sake of clarity, the laminate is only represented in its thickness by a single line.

The strip is folded along two straight lines 1, 2 parallel to the two longitudinal edges 3, 4 of the strip, and it is folded outwards along a third straight line 5, parallel to the same edges and extending between fold 2 and edge 4, the portion of strip adjacent to edge 4 to be able to fold down the portion of strip comprised between edge 3 and fold 1 on the portion of strip comprised between edge 4 and fold 5, edges 3 , 4 then extending one over the other.

The internal portions adjacent to the edges 3, 4 are fixed against each other, then the two external portions adjacent to the fold 5 are fixed against each other. This fixing can be carried out by any known means, in particular by collage.

Then fold the sleeve thus produced a first time around a first straight line 6 perpendicular to the folds 1, 5 near one of the edges 7 of the sleeve, and a second time around a second straight line 8 parallel to the first and distant from the latter by a distance substantially equal to or slightly greater than that separating the straight line 6 from the edge 7.

This double folded portion 6, 7, 8 is then fixed on the portion adjacent to the fold 8 of the rest of the sleeve, in order to close the latter on one side and finally obtain a pocket without bellows which it will suffice subsequently to close from the on the other side as before, after the content has been introduced, in this case a disc, so that it performs the protective function. These last two fixing steps are carried out by the same means as the first.

It will be noted that if the internal layer of the laminate of the starting strip lends itself to it, the fastenings described above can also be carried out by welding.

Having described the formation of the cover, let us now discuss the structure of the starting strip.

The starting strip is a laminate comprising an outer layer 11 of relatively rigid thermal insulating material, here flame retardant, a partial intermediate layer 12 impermeable to radiation, and an inner layer 13 electrically conductive, here metallic, not or difficult to electrify.

For the inner layer, one can for example consider a film or a coating layer of a metal or a metallic compound. For the outer layer, one can consider cardboard, reinforced paper, a layer of polyester, or another nonwoven support, for example.

For example, one can take, for the outer layer, paper with a surface weight of between about 60 g / m 2 and 100 g / m 2 , and, for the inner layer, a lead film of thickness substantially between 50 and 100 µm.

Advantageously, the lead of the internal layer is tinned, for the laminating of the paper that the applicant has produced using an adhesive without solvent or aqueous. To obtain the intermediate partial layer 12, one can proceed as follows.

On sèche. Enfin, on sèche. Over the entire outer layer, a layer, for example, of aluminum from 5 nm to 65 nm (50 to 650 A) is deposited under vacuum. A protective film of varnish is deposited on the aluminum layer, depending on the desired pattern, here to obtain the only partial layer, and using a mask. We dry. Then sprayed on the varnish a corrosive chemical, for example caustic soda diluted to 10%, which attacks the metal layer in places not protected by the varnish. It is then washed with water, the varnish then also being removed if it is soluble. Finally, we dry. In places not covered by the metal layer, the outer layer becomes transparent. Note that this transparency can thus be obtained by electrolytic anodization of the metal layer, which, in this case, will retain its barrier characteristics in its entirety.

Thanks to the rigidity of the outer layer, cuts or excessive crushing of the intermediate sheet are avoided during folding and formation of the container, which reduce the thickness of this intermediate sheet and reduce the protective effectiveness of the container.

Thanks again to the nature of the material of the external layer, the risks of accumulation of electrostatic charges on the external surface of the container, and the resulting disadvantages, in particular with regard to storage, are considerably reduced.

It will also be noted that if the intermediate layer 12 provides a radiation shielding function, the assembly of the laminate layers of the invention, in this case glue, on the one hand, and the various folds of the strip of base, on the other hand, also participate in this screen function. In this regard, the pouch of Figure 1, with its covering portion 3, 4, 5, is particularly well suited for the protection of its contents. However, this covering is not limitative of the invention, the latter in another embodiment, which may have two edges of strip simply fixed to one another (Figure 3), the pouch of the invention can also be made from two strips of material.

  • résistance mécanique à la perforation, au pliage, au frottement et aux variations de températures;
  • résistance à l'eau, aux liquides et gaz agressifs acides ou basiques;
  • résistance aux rayonnements électromagnétiques, photoniques; ionisants, ultraviolets, rayons X.
In general, always, materials will be chosen for the realization of the container of the invention, moreover of any size, so that it has a maximum of qualities among them:
  • mechanical resistance to perforation, bending, friction and temperature variations;
  • resistance to water, acidic or basic aggressive liquids and gases;
  • resistance to electromagnetic and photonic radiation; ionizing, ultraviolet, X-rays.

In Figure 3, the same references 11-13 represent the same elements as in Figure 2. In the pocket of Figure 3, only the area containing the intermediate layer 12 is sealed. This sealing zone is intended to protect certain parts of the contents of containers by carrying out local filtering of the desired radiation. Such containers find their application for example for thawing and cooking by microwave radiation of frozen products, so as to selectively expose certain parts of the product, in order to obtain a more intense cooking of certain parts, for example for browning a cooked dish, the infrared radiation emitted with microwave radiation being partly reflected on this intermediate layer 12, which, moreover, does not obstruct microwaves.

The laminate described above can therefore be used in the production of pouches intended to contain frozen foodstuffs. It can also be very suitable for making pockets not specially provided for this purpose, but which we want to be sure that they are well sealed. Indeed, the laminate described above allows effective control of the welds. If, in the case of bags for frozen products, the intermediate partial layer will be only about 5 nm thick, on the other hand, for the control of the welds, it will be preferable to increase this thickness up to at least 35 nm .
