Abstract

A device for the cleaning of the exhaust gases from internal- combustion engines operated with significant excess oxygen, preferably diesel engines, especially of vehicles having at least one retaining device, especially a filter device, for fine-grain condensates, especially such as soot, which is arranged in an exhaust gas duct, can be brought into contact with at least part of the exhaust gases and, especially, has the exhaust gases flowing through it, and having at least one device for burning off condensates held by the retaining device, which can preferably be brought into use intermittently, the retaining device, especially the filter device (2), having at least one heat-resistant retaining body, especially a filter body (20), provided with a catalyst material, preferably on the basis of metals of the platinum group, if necessary also with Mo, W, Co and/or V, having at least one device (5) for initiating the burning off, preferably with an electrical resistance heating device (50), which is arranged in direct contact with the filter body and can be intermittently supplied with electricity, preferably from a power source (6) of a vehicle. <IMAGE>
