A method of manufacturing packaging according to one of claims 1 and 2, in which, the packaging being open at its upper part and at its lower part, the film (2) of heat shrinkable plastics material, unwound from a reel with the aid of a drive means, is lowered inside the packaging by means of a piston or the like, in parallel with two opposed side walls, until it passes the free edges of the flaps, the two flaps adjoining the other two side walls, preferably the narrower ones, then being folded inside the packaging perpendicularly to the adjoining walls and optionally glued at points on their outer faces, the film then being brought into contact with the outer faces of the previously folded flaps, and the other two flaps in turn being folded and applied against the outer face of said film, which is then cut off laterally, so as to define the parts intended to be folded subsequently onto the packaged objects, prior to the shrinking of the plastics film, said method being one in which, when the inner flaps (5) of the base of the packaging are folded towards the inside of the latter perpendicularly to the adjoining walls (6), said tongues (7) are kept in the plane of the adjoining walls (6) or in a plane forming an obtuse angle with these walls, until the film (2) of plastics material has been brought into contact with the outer face of said inner flaps (5), in that said tongues (7), optionally after gluing of their outer faces, are then applied against the outer face of said film (2) and in that, after gluing of the outer faces of said tongues (7) or of the corresponding parts of the inner faces of the outer flaps (3), said outer flaps are applied against said tongues.
