Abstract
To avoid or reduce the cylinder impacts that affect print quality after overflowing adjacent cylinder pits, preferably blanket cylinders, filler pieces are inserted into the cylinder pits, which are supported on the pit floor and which are between +0.05 mm and -0.05 mm above or below the associated bearer rings or, in the case of runners without bearer rings, lie above or below the theoretical pitch circle. In order to be able to insert the filler pieces into the respective pits, the cover layers of the rubber blankets are removed over the area of the axial length of the filler pieces. The filler pieces are preferably arranged approximately in the middle third and used for this metal.
Description
The invention relates to a printing unit cylinder with a filler arranged in its cylinder pit.
Particularly in modern, high-speed rotary printing presses, when the cylinder pits of two printing unit cylinders, for example two blanket cylinders, are rolled up, a so-called channel joint occurs, which can be noticed on the printed copy by printing strips, i.e. strips of different color intensity. By covering the cylinder pit, for example according to DE-OS 31 10 982 or webs covering the pit, e.g. According to DE-OS 34 34 642, attempts have already been made to dampen such pressure-reducing impacts. Apart from the fact that the previously known filler pieces extended over the entire length of the cylinder pits, which obviously involved certain difficulties or a certain amount of effort during handling in the machine and during manufacture, the damaging effect of the cylinder vibrations, especially as a result of the Impact of the cylinders after passing through the pit, their impact cannot be sufficiently eliminated.
In diesen zeigen jeweils schematisch:

Fig.1 shows a blanket cylinder (1), on the cylinder jacket (2) in a generally known manner, a blanket (3) is stretched. The rubber blanket (3) consists of a lower carrier layer (4), for example made of fabric, and an overlying cover layer (5), for example made of rubber. The ends (6, 7) of the rubber blanket (3) are fastened in the cylinder pit (8), which extends in the axial direction, to the rubber blanket (3) using generally known means, not shown, for example tensioning spindles. The rubber blanket (3) is pulled over the pit edges (9, 10).
In the manner according to the invention, a preferably metallic filler (13) is inserted into the cylinder pit (8) in the middle third of the rubber cylinder (1), ie inserted through the pit opening (12) and by means of screws (not shown) which pass through a bore (14) in the Filler (13) are guided, screwed to the threaded hole (15) of the pit floor (11). The filler (3) should preferably be dimensioned such that it is supported at least in the area of the pit opening (12) on a pit edge (10) in order to be able to absorb forces acting in the circumferential direction, which, under unfavorable conditions, cause the filler (13 ) in the cylinder pit (8) or in the pit opening (12). The rubber cylinder (1) rotates in the direction of the arrow and can be attached to another rubber blanket cylinder, which is indicated at 1 ', see above. that a face print and a back print on one between the can be applied to both
Kontur (16) des Füllstücks nicht so stark gekrümmt ist, wie der im Durchmesser kleinere Gummituchzylinder 1.2 shows a top view of the filler (13) which is inserted into the cylinder pit (8) via the pit opening (12). According to the invention, the cover layer or the entire rubber blanket (5) on both sides of the pit opening (12) is removed over the length of the filler piece (13) in the longitudinal direction of the pit or in the axial direction of the printing unit cylinder (1), so that the carrier layer (4) only extends over this area. ie the fabric of the rubber blanket (3) is inserted into the cylinder pit (8), as indicated at (17) and (18). The filler (13) is preferably made of metal and, viewed in the circumferential direction, has a width which is slightly larger than the width of the pit opening (12). It is essential to the invention that the radial length or height of the filler (13) is dimensioned such that the jacket contour (16) of the filler (13) comes to lie in the range ± 0.05 mm above or below the bearer ring. If the invention is used in a bearerless printing machine .., the height of the filler (3) must be such that the outer contour of the filler (16) is ± 0.05 mm above or below the theoretical pitch circle of the drive gears. The surface of the filler (13), i.e. its curved contour (16) must therefore be at most 0.05 mm below the associated bearer ring or the associated theoretical pitch circle or at most 0.05 mm above the bearer ring or the theoretical pitch circle. The curvature of the contour (16) should preferably correspond to the curvature of the bearer ring or the curvature of the theoretical pitch circle. This means that the surface or contour (16) of the filling piece is not curved as much as the
Through the use of the filler piece (13) in the pit (8) of the rubber blanket cylinder (1) and the filler piece (13 ') in the pit of the further blanket cylinder (1') employed and shown in FIGS when rolling over the cylinder pits, the shocks occurring are effectively damped or not in the case of known ones Pit covers of observable intensity occur. This significantly improves the quality of the print.
The ends (27, 28) of the rubber blanket (1) are fixed in the cylinder pit (24), for example with the aid of tensioning spindles, not shown, and the rubber blanket (21) is pulled over pit edges (25, 26). In contrast to the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the blanket cylinder (19) according to FIG. 3 has flats (33, 34) on both sides of the pit opening (29). In the case of such a cylinder, too, it is advantageous to use a filler piece (31) which can also be supported on the pit floor (30) in the manner already described and is to be fastened accordingly in the pit. Here too, the circular-cylindrical contour (32) of the filler (31) should be between ± 0.05 mm above or below the bearer rings used, which are indicated in part (44) or, in the case of bearer rings without bearers, above and below the theoretical pitch circle, which is also at (45) is indicated.
In some embodiments it can also be advantageous to support the preferably metallic filler (31), as indicated at (47), via a damping layer in the cylinder, here on the pit floor (30).
34) in vorteilhafter Weise vermieden. 19').In order to avoid "falling into each other" of two adjacent cylinders in front of or behind the filler pieces (31, 31 '), the filler piece (31) is approximately mushroom-shaped in cross section according to the embodiment of FIG. 3, so that the lateral areas or Extend the side parts over the flat (33 and 34) of the cylinders (13, 19 1 ). Particularly at lower operating speeds of a printing press, this advantageously prevents adjacent printing unit cylinders (19, 19 ') from moving towards one another when the flats (33 or 34) are reached. Since the cylinder lift, ie the rubber blanket (3 or 21) used, is usually adjusted 0.04 to 0.1 mm using bearer rings, taking into account the documents, this means that the respective cover layer (5 or 22), at least in the parked state is somewhat higher than the contour (16 or 32) of the filling pieces (13 or 31) shown. The same also applies to the filler pieces (13 'or 31') in the pits of the adjacent cylinders (1 'or 19').
Fig. 4 shows a possibility of attaching a filler, here designated (35), with its shaft (36) to the pit floor (39) with the aid of two holding rails (37 and 38).
A bracket, e.g. (37) fixed to the pit floor (39) and the other holder, here (38), can be movable, a compression spring (40), which is supported on the side wall (41) of the cylinder pit (39), prestressing the holder (38). This allows the filler (35) to be inserted into the pit in a simple manner and then by means of a corresponding axial displacement between the. Brackets (37, 38) can be pushed. This represents an alternative fastening option to the fastening shown in FIG. 1 by a screw connection. In the likewise mushroom-shaped design of the filler (35) based on the filler (31) according to FIG. 3, the two side regions or parts are indicated at (42, 43), which cover flats when used in a cylinder pit.
