Definitions
- the invention relates to a contact arrangement for low-voltage circuit breakers with a pivotably mounted holder for a movably arranged switching lever, which is connected to a fixed connection point by a flexible current band.
- a contact arrangement of this type is known for example from DE-A-1 220 923.
- a multi-pole circuit breaker there is a holder for each pole with a movable switching lever and a flexible current band. If a low-voltage circuit breaker for a higher rated current is to be created on this basis, the usual way can be to provide two or more identical contact levers with associated current strips in a common holder for each pole instead of a single one.
- Current forces which remain without harmful consequences, act on these parts, which are arranged spatially in parallel and through which parallel currents flow, provided there is a sufficient distance between the parts, since the forces depend on the distance.
- the current strips are layered from thin, hard-rolled copper sheets, which are connected at their ends by welding, soldering or other suitable methods. Since the current forces act transversely to the stratification of the metal sheets, they can be deformed or torn at their fastening points, which can lead to increasing heating and ultimately to damage and failure of the switch.
- the object of the present invention is to enable the current bands to be as close as possible to one another without sacrificing mobility and thus to contribute to creating a space-saving and powerful contact arrangement.
- this object is achieved in that an insulating spacer supported on the holder is arranged in a parallel arrangement of two or more current paths per pole between the current bands.
- This spacer supports the adjacent current strips and thus prevents excessive bending under the influence of the attractive forces that act at high currents. As a result of the attachment of the spacer to the holder, the relative movements between the current strips and the spacer remain small.
- the spacer is movably mounted with an opening on the bearing pin forming the pivot bearing of the holder.
- the spacer can have particularly small dimensions with this attachment, which is favorable for the size and the weight of the spacer.
- the spacer can also have a contact surface for each current band and a stop surface to limit the mobility of the spacer relative to a stationary counterpart. It is thereby achieved that the current bands cannot bend freely under the influence of the current forces in a loop-shaped design, such that the current forces only act on one leg of each current band. This can be used to exert a force compensating the contact-lifting forces on the contact levers. This force is supported on the holder of the contact arrangement via the stop surface.
- the spacer can be designed pocket-like by a protective arch adjoining the contact surface, on the one hand to protect the current strips and on the other hand to collect individual sheets of the current strips if they should be broken under extreme stress on the circuit breaker. This prevents the metal sheets from spreading far apart from the current band and coming into contact with earthed parts of the circuit breaker.
- Figure 1 shows the current path of a pole of a low-voltage circuit breaker, partly in section.
- a spacer is shown in Figure 2 as a single part.
- FIG. 3 shows a section A-B of the spacer according to FIG. 2.
- the current path shown in FIG. 1 has an insulating part 10 as a carrier for an upper forked connecting rail 11 and a lower, likewise forked connecting rail 12 on. With this is a flexible current band 13 in conductive connection, which forms the power supply to a contact lever 14 shown in section.
- the current band 13 extends to a contact carrier 15, on which a contact pad 16 is located.
- the insulating material carrier 10 contains a pressed-in threaded bushing 17, into which a clamping screw 20 passing through the current strip 13 and the connecting bar 12 is screwed.
- the contact lever 14 is pivotally held about a hinge pin 21 on a support 22, which in turn is pivotable about a bearing pin 23.
- the carrier 22 is pivoted with the contact lever 14 for switching on and off by a drive lever 24, which is connected to a drive device in a manner not shown, and which engages on a hinge pin 25 passing through the carrier 22.
- a drive lever 24 which is connected to a drive device in a manner not shown, and which engages on a hinge pin 25 passing through the carrier 22.
- the contact lever 14 rests with its contact pad 16 on a stationary contact pad 26, which is attached to a contact carrier 30, which is also fastened to the insulating material carrier 10 by a clamping screw 27.
- the contact carrier is conductively connected to the upper connecting rail 11 by the clamping screw 27.
- the current bath 13 is loop-shaped in its lower region and thereby surrounds the bearing pin 23 of the holder 22.
- a current flowing through the current band 13 thus causes forces which act to widen the loop, that is to say that strive to remove the legs 18 and 19 of the current band 13 from each other.
- attractive forces occur between the current band 13 visible in FIG. 1 and a similar one, in front of or behind the plane of the drawing Current band 13 lie on further current band. As a result, not only can these current strips come into an undesirable conductive connection with one another, but the thin metal sheets from which the current strips are made can also be subjected to high mechanical stress, particularly at their clamping points or connection points.
- a deformation of this type is prevented by a spacer 31, which covers the loop area of the current band 13 with the legs 18 and 19.
- the wall part 32 of the spacer 31 (FIGS. 2 and 3) lying between the current strips has a through opening 33 which is provided for the passage of the bearing bolt 23 of the carrier 22.
- a corresponding oversize of the through opening 33 can ensure that inevitable manufacturing tolerances do not cause any difficulties during assembly and that there is a certain mobility of the spacer 31 relative to the holder 22.
- the wall part 32 is adjoined on both sides by an approximately arcuate extension 34, which results in an approximately pocket-like configuration, as shown in particular in FIGS. 1 and 2.
- the lugs 34 form a support surface 35 on their side facing the current strips, which acts as a flat support of the leg 18 of each current strip 13, as shown in FIG. 1. Subsequent to the contact surfaces 35, the shoulders 34 have a protective arch 36 which runs at such a distance from the associated current band 13 that the movement cannot be impeded.
- the protective sheet 36 is dimensioned such that a sheet of the current strip 13, for example breaking at the point designated 37, is prevented from bending downward and is rather caught by the protective sheet 36 and completely enclosed. This prevents such a damaged sheet from coming into contact with live parts.
- a current flowing through the current band 13 produces forces which tend to cause the legs 18 and 19 to spread. These forces can be deliberately used to compensate for contact-lifting forces caused by the same current between the contact pads 16 and 26 by being introduced in a suitable manner into the contact lever 14 acting as a two-armed lever.
- the spacer 31 has a stop surface 38 which cooperates with a stationary counter surface 40 which is part of an angle 41 which is also gripped by the clamping screw 20. Force exerted by the leg 18 of the current band 13 on the bearing surface 35 is thus supported with respect to the insulating material carrier 10.
- the spacer 31 shown as an individual part in FIGS. 2 and 3 is provided for contact arrangements with two parallel current paths per pole and, in addition to a wall part 32 separating the adjacent current bands, has two approaches 34 adjoining on both sides.
- These spacers can also be used for contact arrangements with more than two parallel current paths;
- two identical spacers 31 according to FIGS. 2 and 3 can be used in connection with a modified spacer to be fitted between them, which essentially corresponds to the wall part 32 without the lugs 34.
- Spacers which correspond to FIGS. 2 and 3 with the difference can also be used for any number of parallel current paths. that one of the two approaches 34 is omitted.
- the insulating property of the spacer can be achieved by coating a metal part or by producing the spacer as a whole from an insulating plastic.

Abstract
