Description

The present invention relates to a ski binding and in particular the energy means thereof and the control members intended to implement said bindings in the active restraint and / or inactive position for releasing an end of the boot.

Most known ski bindings include a pivoting lock, part of which cooperates with the boot, for example its end, while another part is subjected to the action of an elastic system, a control member associated with said elastic system. and to the bolt, being capable of placing the binding in the active retaining and / or inactive position for releasing said end of the shoe. Such a fixation is known e.g. by FR 2 447 731 in which the elastic system is a toggle system. FR 2 497 674 shows an almost similar attachment, of the automatic type, comprising two elastic systems.

In German patent application No. 26 51 562 for example, the control member is constituted by a lever pivoted on the same axis as the latch and kinematically connected to the elastic system. Such an arrangement of the control member and of the elastic system proves to be complicated due to the large number of parts constituting it (pressing roller, guide pin, lever, spring, etc.), and therefore a cost of high manufacturing.

In other fasteners such as that described in German Patent No. 807,789, the lock is obtained in an elastically deformable material to constitute both the lock itself and the energy of the fastener; a lever pivoted at a distance from the lock comprises a pressure finger intended to come to bear on a ramp of said lock in the active retaining position to force the latter to be applied to the end of the shoe. The realization of the lock of such a fixing is however difficult to define because it must be obtained on the one hand with an attachment profile substantially corresponding to that of the end of the shoe sole and on the other hand, with a deformable zone or part allowing its elastic locking without allowing the relative movement of the shoe sole relative to the ski. In addition, to put the fixing in the inactive position, it is necessary to release the lock from the action of the lever.

Still as in Austrian patent No. 171,853, the lock can be provided only to grip the end of the shoe sole and it is the control lever which has an elastic system. In this example, we again have a relatively large number of parts used and putting the lock inactive position requires releasing all the energy from the elastic system, which energy must be fully restored during the fitting operation.

Finally, to cite the ski bindings intended more precisely for retaining the front end of a ski boot, French Patent No. 2,355,532 describes an assembly consisting of a support piece intended to receive a hooking portion of the shoe sole, an elastic system articulated on the ski and a lock pivoting about an axis integral with said elastic system. This type of fastening is provided with a control member constituted by an extension of the lock formed substantially on the side opposite to that intended to come against the hooking portion of the shoe. Such an embodiment has the drawback of releasing the lock from all the action of the elastic system, in the inactive position.

The ski binding, object of the invention, proposes to remedy these drawbacks in a simple and effective manner. This object is achieved by producing an elastic system composed of a spring, one part of which cooperates with the lock, while another part constitutes the control member, the lock-spring assembly being kinematically arranged to function as an articulation with toggle in which the spring remains under a certain tension for both of the active and inactive positions of said lock. According to the invention, the cross-country binding for retaining a boot on a ski comprises a movable lock capable of cooperating with an associated part of the boot for locking it on the ski, a control lever or unlocking the lock to move it from a stable locking position to a stable unlocking position and an elastic system urging the lock in the locking position, and constituting a toggle system, and is characterized in that the elastic system ( 9) comprises an actuating part cooperating with the lock and constituting therewith the toggle system, and in that the elastic system also serves as a lever for controlling the lock.

According to a first embodiment of the invention, the binding comprises a movable lock arranged to pivot relative to the ski around a first axis, and an elastic system constituted by a U-shaped spring stirrup, the two lateral strands of which are disposed pivoting with respect to the ski around a second axis substantially parallel to the middle part of the U; this middle part is folded so on the one hand, to be elastically deformable by resting on an actuating ramp formed on the latch and on the other hand, to present a gripping part allowing the spring to pivot around its axis and therefore to move its actuation point on the ramp of the lock. The bolt-spring assembly is kinematically arranged to function as a toggle joint, the pivot axis of the bolt, that of the spring and the actuation point of the latter constitute the pivots; it suffices to move the spring actuation point on the ramp of the latch beyond the plane defined by the pivot axis of said latch and the pivot axis of the spring so that the elastic action of said spring tends to swing the lock in the same direction as the movement. Abutment means are advantageously arranged on either side of the lock to determine the extreme limits of pivoting of the latter in one and the other of the positions of retention or release of the shoe sole.

According to a preferred embodiment, the binding is of the type described in our European patent application filed today, and is more specifically designed as a binding intended to connect the front end of the boot to the ski. In this case, the attachment part of the shoe is constituted by an iron of circular section, folded in a U-shape, the lateral strands of which are anchored in the front part of the shoe while a support piece, linked to the ski, is designed to receive by engagement from top to bottom, said hooking part. The lock and the elastic system are arranged in the same manner as in the previous description, but this time the lock retains the part for attaching the boot to the ski by means of the support piece.

Dans ce premier exemple de réalisation de l'étrier-ressort (9), on s'aperçoit que l'effort élastique est donnée par la résistance à la torsion du brin transversal (24).According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, Figures 1 and 2, the elastic system, object of the invention, is associated with a bottom fixing assembly. In a manner known per se, the front end (1) of the shoe (2) is provided with a hooking part (3) capable of engaging from top to bottom, as in the direction (4) ( Figure 2), on a support piece (5) connected to the ski (6). A movable lock (7) pivoting relative to the ski around a first axis (8) and an elastic system (9) constituted by a spring-caliper, also pivoting relative to the ski but around a second axis (10 ) and bearing on an actuating ramp (13) of said lock, are kinematically arranged to function as a toggle joint; for this, the axis (8) of the bolt and the axis (10) of the spring clip form the first two support points of the toggle joint, the third support point being constituted by the actuation point (11) a prominence (12) of the middle part of the spring clip (9) on the ramp (13); only the actuation point (11) being provided movable in position, it suffices to move the protuberance (12) of the spring clip (9) on the ramp (13) beyond the plane (14) defined by the axes (8) and (10) to reverse the toggle joint of the fixing assembly and therefore, to pass the lock (7) from one to the other of its retaining positions (FIG. 1) and release (Figure 2). The elastic system is obtained, in accordance with the invention, in the form of a spring clip (9) (Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4) having on the one hand, hooking parts (10) for its connection to the ski intended to serve as a pivot axis, on the other hand, a middle part comprising a protrusion (12) in the shape of a 0 (consisting of an actuating part (12) and two lateral strands (120) converging upwards), intended to be applied to an actuation zone, such as the ramp (13) of the latch (7), and finally, an elastically deformable zone (20) visible in FIGS. 3 and 4 located substantially in the extension of the lateral strands (15) and of the protrusion (12) of the spring, beyond the latter. This particular construction of the spring-caliper is very advantageous for ski bindings which require a reduced size and a minimum weight, which is the case in particular with so-called bottom bindings, of the type of that of FIGS. 1 and 2; in fact, such a spring clip (9) constitutes both the energy means of the binding, one of the functional members of the locking system, and the voluntary maneuvering member of said binding for the one and / or the other of the shoe retention and release positions. Another advantage of making the zone (20) of elastic deformation of the spring-caliper (9) beyond the prominence (12) lies in the fact that there is a certain space allowing the spring to be modulated. according to the form most suitable for the desired elastic action on the latch (7) as much for the direction of bending (as according to (22) Figure 4, for example), the elastic stroke (23), as for the force . Finally, it will be noted that the elastic system thus obtained occupies a relatively small volume, especially in the transverse direction, which allows its tilting, as in the direction (21), FIG. 1, towards the upper surface of the ski (6), simultaneous ment with the rotation of the bolt (7), Figure 2. In this first example of embodiment of the spring clip (9), we see that the elastic force is given by the resistance to torsion of the transverse strand ( 24).

To obtain a spring with different mechanical characteristics and / or whose elastic stresses are more or less severe, it is possible to produce, FIGS. 5 and 6, spring calipers (25) and (30) which work more on bending thanks to specific folds. Thus, in FIG. 5, the elastic deformation zone (26) is characterized by a certain winding of the strand of the spring clip (25) to form turns (27); in this case, the prominence (28) intended to be applied elastically to the lock can move along a rotating path, along (29) for example, by bending the turns (27). In FIG. 6, the spring clip (30) comprises an elastic deformation zone (32) constituted by windings (33) crossed by the transverse strand (34) which forms an "8" whose flat base (31) or prominence , is intended to be applied to the lock.

According to another embodiment of the spring clip (40), FIG. 7, the latter is pivoted transversely to the ski (41) by means of retaining parts such as sleeves (44), secured to the end of the side strands (45) and pivoted around axes (43) connected to a support piece (46). On the other hand, the spring clip (50) can be made in two parts (51) connected to each other by an assembly sleeve (52) (Figures 8 and 9). In this exemplary embodiment, the parts (51) are linked together in the elastic, deformation zone (53), but could be at the level of the prominence (54). Obviously, the two parts (51) can be folded differently and in particular have their ends (55) facing each other rather than affixing, as shown. In addition, the assembly sleeve (25) may comprise a part or an arrangement favoring manipulation of the elastic system on the lock, for example, an extension (520) forming a lever and shown in phantom in FIG. 8.

It is understood that an elastic system according to the invention can be adapted to other types of fasteners; for example, in FIG. 10, the binding is intended to retain the rear end (60) of a boot (61) on a ski (62). The latch (63) is pivoted about a transverse axis (64) and comprises a ramp (65) for actuation on which a spring clip (66), according to the invention, is supported by its prominence (67). The spring (66) is pivoted at a distance from the axis (64) of the lock about another axis (68) so that by operating said spring in the release position of the lock, such as in the direction ( 69), the prominence (67) of the ramp (65) for actuating the latter and vice versa is released, for the retaining position, according to (70).

According to other embodiments of the fixing assembly, still in accordance with the invention, but not shown, a part can be interposed between the prominence of the spring and the latch, and the latch can be associated with a means of gripping such as a jaw intended to cooperate with the attachment portion or sole of the shoe.
