Abstract

The apparatus comprises a stretching unit (S) delivering two stretched fiber rovings (4, 5). One fiber roving (4) serves as the core for the wrapped yarn to be produced and runs to a twist-imparting device (6, 7). The fibers of the other fiber roving (5) are transferred to a moving fiber feeding and holding surface (9) constituted by a perforated peripheral surface of a hollow disk (10). This surface (9) comes into contact with the core (4) at a point (C) in front of the twist-imparting device (6, 7). At this contact point (C), the fibers fed on the surface (9) are seized by the rotating core (4) and wound up. At the contact point (C), a fiber catching device (12) is likewise arranged, having an air-permeable surface (11) behind which a vacuum is maintained. Fibers fed along the fiber feeding and holding surface (9) which separate from this surface (9) before they have been wound up completely on the core (4) are sucked against the air-permeable surface (11) of the fiber catching device (12) and retained until they have been completely wound up. In this way, all fibers are wrapped onto the core (4) in stretched condition even at high operating velocities.

Description

The invention relates to a device for producing a winding yarn according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

Such a device is described in EP-A-128 863. In it, oriented, parallelized fibers held on the fiber feed and holding surface are fed to the soul. At the point where the fiber feeding and holding surface comes into contact with the core, the front ends of the supplied fibers are gripped by the rotating core and the fibers are wound onto the core. The rear ends of the fibers are to be retained on the fiber feed and retention surface so that the fibers remain stretched and parallelized during winding. Since it can happen that the rear ends of the fibers prematurely detach from the fiber supply and holding surface, a fiber catching device is arranged in the area of the fiber transfer point, which is intended to stop such rear fiber ends.

The fiber catching device has the shape of a small brush in the known device. However, it has been found that the effectiveness of such a mechanical fiber-trap brush becomes insufficient if one tries to increase the working speed of the device, for example to over 300 m / min running speed of the core, the core having to rotate at several hundred thousand rpm . At such high speeds, a normal brush cannot reliably prevent the fibers from sticking out of the soul or even detaching from it under the influence of centrifugal force. If an attempt is made to increase the effect of the brush, for example by using a denser brush, then irregularities and strong tension fluctuations occur in the winding yarn produced, which apparently is caused by fibers getting caught on the bristles of the brush will. In addition, the brush gets dirty over time, so that its effect is not constant.

The object of the invention is therefore to design the fiber catching device in a device of the type specified in such a way that it fibers with a constant, controllable effect even at high levels, which leave the fiber feed and holding surface before they are wound up sufficiently on the core Working speeds can be stopped reliably until the fibers are completely wound on the soul.

The object is achieved according to the invention in that the fiber catching device has an air-permeable surface and means for maintaining a negative pressure behind this surface.

If a negative pressure is maintained behind the air-permeable surface, for example a perforated wall or a grid, the fibers leaving the fiber supply and holding surface which have not yet been sufficiently wound on the core are sucked against the air-permeable surface and then retained thereon until they are completely wrapped up in the soul. Because of the retention of the fibers, this winding takes place under a certain tension, so that the fibers remain stretched, which results in an improved quality of the wrapping yarn produced. An additional advantage is that the suction power can be easily changed by regulating the vacuum and can be adapted to the conditions in the particular case, for example to the working speed of the device. In contrast to the known brush, in the device according to the invention the effect of the air-permeable surface can be regulated constantly and precisely with negative pressure.

Air-permeable surfaces which come into contact with fibers and behind which a negative pressure is maintained are known per se in devices for producing winding yarns, e.g. from documents EP-A-0 085 634 or US-A-4 209 965. However, these air-permeable surfaces are not fiber trapping devices for holding fiber ends that have become detached from a fiber feed and holding surface. In both documents, an axially moving core is fed with individual wrapping fibers free-flying, not on a fiber feeding and holding surface. In document EP-A-0 085 634 the core is guided in a channel-shaped guide, on the front of which a fluid flow is generated, for example through bores arranged in the bottom of the channel, behind which a negative pressure is maintained. In document US-A-4 209 965 the core is guided on a grooved suction roller. A negative pressure is maintained behind holes in the bottom of the groove in order to keep the core on the suction roller.

Exemplary embodiments of the device according to the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. In this show:
  • Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 each schematically in plan view one device each for the production of a winding yarn.

The devices shown each contain a drafting device S, only partially shown, with output rollers 1, 2, 3, which delivers two drawn fiber slivers 4 and 5. The one fiber sliver 4, which serves as a core for the winding yarn to be produced, runs to a swirl sensor. In the examples shown, the swirl device consists of two opposing, approximately parallel friction disks 6 and 7, which rotate in opposite directions and touch the supplied yarn at a circumferential point U and set it in rotation. After the twist, the yarn then runs to a take-off device 8 and is then wound up in a conventional manner (not shown).

Instead of the fiber sliver 4, an endless filament or a combination of fiber sliver and continuous filament could also be used as the core.

The other stretched fiber sliver 5 is drawn onto a fiber feed and holding surface 9, which moves and comes into contact with the soul (fiber sliver 4) at a point C in front of the twister 6, 7. In the examples shown, the fiber feed and holding surface 9 is an annular, air-permeable (for example perforated) peripheral surface on a rotating hollow disc 10, in which a negative pressure is maintained by means of a suction line (not shown). The speed of movement of the peripheral surface 9 is somewhat higher than the feed speed of the fiber sliver 5, so that the oriented, parallelized fibers of this fiber sliver are stretched onto the peripheral surface 9. The fibers are then held by the negative pressure on the peripheral surface 9 and moved with this to the contact point C with the core (fiber sliver 4), where the front ends of the fibers are gripped by the rotating core and the fibers are wound onto the core. When winding, the rear ends of the fibers are on the peripheral surface 9 retained (by the negative pressure prevailing in the hollow disk 10), so that the fibers remain taut and do not lose their orientation and parallelization. The core with the covering fibers wound on it then runs as twisted yarn through the swirl sensor 6, 7 and to the take-off device 8.

If the operating speed of the device is increased, for example to over 300 m / min running speed of the core or of the wrapping yarn produced therewith, the fibers fed on the peripheral surface 9, particularly if they are relatively short, tend to under the influence of centrifugal force more and more detach from the peripheral surface 9 before they are completely wound on the soul. At high working speeds, the soul turns at the contact point C at several hundred thousand rpm. Fibers prematurely detached from the peripheral surface 9 can no longer properly wind up on the soul. Fibers that are insufficiently captured by the soul could even be thrown off by the soul.

In order to counter such difficulties and to ensure that the fibers fed to the core are stretched and completely wound onto the core even at high working speeds, at the contact point C, opposite the fiber feed and holding surface 9, there is a fiber catching device for stopping the fiber feed and holding surface 9 detached fiber ends.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the fiber trapping device has an air-permeable surface in the form of a suction grille 11 which extends parallel to the axis of the core 4. The suction grille 11 is arranged in the opening of a funnel 12, to which a negative pressure source (not shown) is connected via a suction line 13 and maintains a negative pressure behind the grille 11. As a result, fibers that leave the circumferential surface 9 are removed from the rotating core have not yet been sufficiently captured, sucked against the grid 11 and held on it until they are completely wound onto the soul. A certain tension is maintained in these fibers during winding, which improves the quality of the wrapping yarn produced.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the fiber catching device has an air-permeable surface in the form of a perforated peripheral wall 14 of a rotating hollow disk 15, the interior of which is connected to a vacuum source (not shown) at least in the area of the contact point C. Fibers fed from the fiber feed and holding surface 9 to the core 4, which fibers loosen when they are wound onto the core, are sucked against the peripheral wall 14 of the disk 15 and retained thereon. The peripheral wall 14 moves at the contact point C in the opposite direction to the movement of the peripheral surface 9 and the core 4, as a result of which the fibers are tensioned and stretched even better during winding onto the core than in the embodiment according to FIG. 1. In a modified embodiment However, the circumferential wall 14 could also move in the same direction as the movement of the circumferential surface 9 and the core 4 at the contact point C, in order to prevent feed fibers which have been scarcely detected by the core 4 from being pulled away from the core again . In this embodiment, the hollow disk 15 would rotate counter to the arrow shown.
