Description

The invention relates to an adjusting device for a watch according to the preamble of protection claim 1 or 5.

Such clocks, which have only one hand, are known to almost everyone from everyday life, for example as a so-called short-time meter with an adjustment range of up to 60 minutes for the bathroom, for monitoring cooking or roasting processes in the kitchen and also from their use in the control of procedures in the laboratory. After the set time interval has elapsed, such clocks generally emit an acoustic signal, or, as is known from DE-A 3 315 545, an additional optical signal.

In most cases, the adjusting device contains either an outer adjusting ring or an inner adjusting disc with a strongly shaped adjusting knob as an adjusting element. When the clockwork runs out, both of the above-mentioned elements move counter to the original setting direction, that is, in most cases, counterclockwise, since there is a positive connection between the clockwork shaft and the control element.

In many cases, such short-time meters are carried around by the person responsible for observing a certain time schedule in a pocket of their clothing, for example in order to be able to carry out other work at a different location during the course of the set time interval. It has turned out to be a disadvantage that the previously known short-time meters can be mechanically inhibited when carried around in a pocket of clothing due to the exposed actuating element that moves when the set time interval is passed. This means that the sequence of the timepiece's clockwork is prevented or even blocked, which leads to extremely undesirable timeouts for the respective process to be monitored. This danger is greater the smaller the drive torque of the clockwork and the greater the extension of the actuating element running perpendicular to the drive axis and thus the corresponding braking torque.

Quartz-controlled short-time meters equipped with an electromechanical converter can only deliver a lower drive torque than mechanically driven movements. Therefore, the former are even more at risk of hindering and locking the retracting movement. To reduce this risk, it is proposed in the short-time meter known from Japanese utility model publication JA-U 5869294 to let the shim almost completely into the front of the housing and to provide it with knurling on its peripheral surface, a recess in the front part of the housing actuating the shim allowed from the side. But even with this arrangement of the shim, its mechanical inhibition or even blocking cannot be completely ruled out. In addition, this known short-time meter has two further disadvantages. On the one hand, due to the fact that there is no closed area in the area around the dial on the front wall of the housing due to the recess, the dial must be applied to the moving dial itself, which is associated with a rather unusual reading of the times displayed by the user . On the other hand, due to the fact that dirt and dust get under the shim at the recess, there is also a risk of increasing contamination for the clockwork itself, especially when using the timer in the kitchen area.

It is therefore an object of the invention to provide an adjusting device for a timepiece according to the preamble of the first or fifth protection claim, in which an inhibition or even blocking of the clockwork can be almost excluded and in which the analog display of the time interval by a fixed dial and a movable pointer is accomplished.

This object is achieved both with the means specified in the characterizing part of protection claim 1 and with the means specified in the characterizing part of protection claim 5.

In addition to avoiding the aforementioned disadvantages, the actuating device according to the invention also offers significantly greater protection against inadvertent adjustment of the set time interval even in cases where mechanical inhibition can be practically ruled out.

  • Fig. 1 eine Vorderansicht einer ersten Ausführungsform der erfindungsgemässen Stellvorrichtung;
  • Fig. 2 einen Schnitt längs der Achse 11-11 der Fig. 1;
  • Fig. 3 eine Draufsicht auf eine zweite Ausführungsform der erfindungsgemässen Stellvorrichtung;
The invention is described in more detail using two exemplary embodiments with the aid of FIGS. 1-5. Show it:
  • 1 shows a front view of a first embodiment of the actuating device according to the invention;
  • FIG. 2 shows a section along the axis 11-11 of FIG. 1;
  • 3 shows a plan view of a second embodiment of the actuating device according to the invention;
  • Fig. 4 shows a section along the axis IV-IV of the figure and
  • 5 shows a rear view of the adjusting device of FIGS. 3 and 4.

In the bead 2 there is also a circular dial 3, which has a minute division from 0 to 60. In the interior of the dial 3, a circular adjusting disc 4 with a pointer 5 formed thereon is rotatably arranged. The shim 4 is positively and non-positively connected to the single pointer shaft 7 of the clockwork, which is no longer shown, by means of a bushing 6 which is also molded onto it.

As can be seen from FIG. 2, the circular dial 3 is covered by a likewise circular, transparent cover glass 8, which is snapped on its outer edge into a recess 9 of the bead 2 in a force-fitting and form-fitting manner and which in the area of the adjusting disc 4 has one inwards directed edge surface 11 of the shim 4 overlaps. The outer diameter of the dial 4 and the width of the annular cover glass 8 are so closely matched that, due to the small gap 25 that is formed, dust-proof covering of the dial 3 and thus also of the clockwork located below the dial 4 is achieved. The outer contour of the cover glass 8 is so far above the top of the shim 4 that both mechanical inhibition of the clockwork and penetration of dirt or dust into it is almost impossible.

On its upper side, the adjusting disc 4 has a depression 12 with a molded-on rib 13, which facilitates rotation of the adjusting disc 4 and thus of the pointer, for example, by the user of the short-time meter engaging the tip of a finger.

As is generally known, the timer is set and started by turning the dial 4 clockwise until the pointer 5 indicates the time interval to be measured, for example 20 minutes. By unscrewing the dial 4 together with the pointer 5 shown in FIG. 1, the electrical clockwork is started by closing an electrical contact (not shown) or, in the case of mechanical watches, by the associated winding process, which leads to the pointer 5 countering clockwise and will have returned to the zero position after the indicated time interval. In this pointer position, an alarm signal is generated in an electroacoustic manner or else a mechanically generated signal for a specific time.

The embodiment of the actuating device according to the invention described in FIGS. 3-5 can also be used for the short-time meter functioning as described above.

The components provided with the same reference numerals in FIGS. 3-5 as in FIGS. 1 and 2 have the same function and will not be described again. Instead of the adjusting disk 4, a driving disk 14 is connected to the pointer shaft 7 of the clockwork in this embodiment. The drive plate 14 is in turn a pointer 5 formed. Furthermore, the driving disk has on its side surface 21 diametrically opposite the pointer 5 a recess 19 in which an arm 20 mounted around the bushing 6 can be moved over an angular range given by the dimension of the recess 19. The arm 20 has a nose 18 at its end facing away from the socket 6.

Both the dial 3 and the drive plate 14 are completely covered by a cover plate 16, which consists of transparent material. The cover plate 16 itself is firmly pressed into a knurled adjusting ring 15, which in turn is secured against a certain resistance on the bead 2 by technical means, not specified. The cover disk 16 has a projection 17 on its side facing the dial 3. The projection 17 and the nose 18 are dimensioned such that the cover disk 16 which can be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise by the user with the aid of the adjusting ring 15 moves the driving disk 14 in such a way that the projection 17 against the nose 18 from the right or left strikes. The adjusting ring 15 engages on the bead 2 by technical means, not shown here, in a certain rotational position. This is characterized in that when the pointer is in the 0 minute position, the projection 17 bears against the nose 18 from the right (FIG. 3) and that the arm 20 bears against the left boundary of the recess 19. If the adjusting ring 15 is now rotated clockwise, the pointer 5 attached to the driving disk 14 is also moved clockwise, the contact (not shown again) for triggering the return of the clockwork and thus the driving disk 14 being closed by technical means (not shown). After the user of the watch has set the pointer 5 to the desired value by means of the adjusting ring 15, he turns the latter back into its latching position so that the nose 18, which moves backwards in the counterclockwise direction when the movement of the clockwork expires, does not counter the Projection 17 strikes. If the nose 18 finally lies against the projection 17 from the left, the clockwork is switched off again by opening the electrical contact mentioned above but not shown.

Fig. 3). The recess 19 on the side surface of the driving disk 14 is important for those cases in which time intervals in the range of almost 60 minutes are to be set. For the setting of 60 minutes, for example, the adjusting ring 15 must first be rotated clockwise through 360 °, the projection 17 being in contact with the nose 18 from the right (see FIG. 3). If you turn the adjusting ring 15 counterclockwise, after a rotation of less than 360 °, the projection 17 is already on the nose 18 from the left again, the adjusting ring 15 is therefore not locked in the starting position again without the set time would be changed. During the last minutes of the movement of the clock mechanism, the nose 18 would then open against the projection 17 from the left if the adjusting ring 15 were not completely reset to run. This would have the consequence that the adjusting ring 15, which is necessarily in the latching position for the complete return of the driving disk 14, cannot be turned back into this position after a few minutes, but only after a few minutes.

Because of the recess 19, the arm 20 and thus the nose 18 can now be rotated through a certain angular range. If the angular range is selected such that the projection 17 overlaps both when it stops from the right (the arm 20 lies on the left boundary of the recess 19) and when it stops from the left (the arm 20 lies on the right boundary of the recess 19) the same place on the dial 3, the adjusting ring 15 can be brought back into its latching position immediately, even for times to be set of up to 60 minutes.

In this embodiment of the actuating device according to the invention, there is even more extensive protection against mechanical inhibition and inadvertent adjustment of the short-time meter than is the case with the embodiment described first.

A setting device for a timepiece having a mechanical or electromechanical clockwork, for measuring time intervals indicated in analogue representation, the time intervals being adjustable by means of setting element on a dial (3) provided on the front panel (26) of the casing of the timepiece, characterized in that the setting device includes an adjusting disk (4) with a pointer (5) integrally formed therewith in radial direction, with the adjusting disk (4) being rotatably mounted within the boundaries of the annular dial (3) and being driven about its shaft (7) by the clockwork, and that an annular transparent cover glass (8) is provided on the front panel (26) of the casing of the timepiece in such a manner that the outside surface of the cover glass (8) is disposed above the frontal surface of the adjusting disk (4) accessible from the front.
2. The setting device as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the adjusting disk (4) has on its outside diameter an outwardly extending rim area (11) and the cover glass (8) has on its inside diameter an inwardly recessed rim area (10), with the two rim areas (10, 11) being in relative engagement in a dust- and dirt-proof manner by the distance between the outwardly extending rim area (11) of the adjusting disk (4) and the shaft (7) being only slightly greater than the distance of the inwardly recessed rim area (10) of the cover glass (8).
3. The setting device as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, characterized in that the adjusting disk (4) includes a recessed portion (12) suitable for engagement by a fingertip, for example.
4. The setting device as claimed in claim 3, characterized in that the recessed portion (12) includes a rib member (13) suitable for engagement by a fingernail, for example.
5. A setting device for a timepiece having a mechanical or electromechanical clockwork, for measuring time intervals indicated in analogue representation, the time intervals being adjustable by means of setting element on a dial (3) provided on the front panel (26) of the casing of the timepiece, characterized in that the setting device includes a follower disk (14) with a pointer (5) integrally formed therewith in radial direction, with the follower disk (14) being rotatably mounted within the boundaries of the annular dial (3) and being driven about its shaft (7) by the clockwork, and that a transparent cover disk (16) fully covering the follower disk (14) is provided on the front panel (26) of the casing of the timepiece, said cover disk being rotatable relative to the frontal panel (26) of the timepiece casing and having a projection (17) provided on its inner surface which engages a nose (18) on the follower disk (14) when the cover disk (16) is turned.
6. The setting device as claimed in claim 5, characterized in that the nose (18) is not fixedly connected with the follower disk (14) but that the latter includes on its end surface (21) an opening (19) in which the nose (18) provided on a radially extending arm (20) is movable about a predetermined angle of rotation coaxially with the follower disk (14).
7. The setting device as claimed in claim 5 or claim 6, characterized in that the cover disk (16) has its outside diameter firmly embedded in a setting ring (15), and that the setting ring (15) is seated on a bead (2) provided on the front panel (26) of the timepiece casing in a rotatable relationship thereto.
