4. Apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the guide members such as rollers (23, 28, 34) or the like are mounted with adjustable height on the support (2).
5. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterised in that the rollers (23) are mounted on the support (2) so as to be adjustable perpendicularly to the working direction of the device (3) for driving the nailing plate(s) (4) home, for example by means of a spindle drive (25) (Fig. 1).
6. Apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the guide rail (29) for the rollers (28) or the like which are provided on the support (2), pointing upwards, is mounted on a holder (31 ) which comprises rests (30) for the beams to be joined together (5, 6) (Figs. 4, 5).
7. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterised in that the pressure plates (12, 12') are mounted, if occasion arises together with the drive motors (9) which operate them, with adjustable height on the support (2).
8. Apparatus for driving nailing plates (4) home into adjacent beams or the like (5, 6) with a device (7) for pressing together the beams or the like (5, 6) into which the nailing plate(s) (4) is (are) to be driven home, in which device (7) the beams (5, 6) or the like to be joined together are pressed against an abutment (36, 40), and with at least one device (3) for driving the nailing plates (4) home into the beams or the like (5, 6) which are pressed together, which can be operated independently of the former device (7), which is mounted on a stirrup-shaped support (2) and which comprises opposed pressure plates (12, 12'), at least one of which (12) can be advanced by a drive motor (9), wherein the working direction of the device (7) for pressing together the adjacent beams or the like (5, 6) runs perpendicularly to the working direction of the device (3) for driving the nailing plate(s) (4) home, characterised in that the device (7) for pressing together the beams or the like (5, 6) comprises at least one fluid-drive motor (16) which is connected to the support (2) and mounted approximately at the centre of the support (2), which acts against the upper one (5) of the beams (5, 6) to be joined together and which presses the beams or the like (5, 6) against an abutment (36, 40) and the support (2) is movable by guide members such as rollers (23, 28, 34), runners or the like along the beams or the like (5, 6), wherein the rollers (23, 28) roll over the upper one of the beams (6) or, in a manner known in the art, on a guide rail (29) arranged parallel to the beams or the like (5, 6), or the rollers (34) roll over the floor (37) or along U-rails (38).
