Definitions
- the invention relates to a line-fed phase-controlled antenna with a multiplicity of individual radiators arranged in a symmetrical area for generating a summation diagram and a difference diagram, which is generated by the phase assignment of the individual radiators on both sides of the line of symmetry, with a transition zone between the lines along this line of symmetry antiphase amplitude assignments is provided.
- Electronically phase-controlled antennas can be operated like conventional radar antennas, which are equipped with a primary radiator system and a parabolic reflector, to increase the accuracy of the target location and for target tracking in the so-called monopulse method, which uses a sum diagram and usually two difference diagrams for the azimuth plane and the evation plane.
- monopulse method which uses a sum diagram and usually two difference diagrams for the azimuth plane and the evation plane.
- line supply is often used in phase-controlled antennas, in which each of the single radiators is controlled via a line belonging to a distribution network.
- the optimum amplitude assignment for the sum diagram over the antenna area is also effective in terms of amount for the azimuth and elevation difference diagrams, for which it is no longer optimal, but rather produces relatively high side lobes that only slowly decrease from the antenna axis direction.
- phase interlocking results from the fact that the two lines of symmetry between the quadrants are equipped with single radiators and, in alternating order, belong to the adjacent quadrants.
- This phase interlocking for the formation of the difference diagram contributes to the improvement of the side lobe behavior and the suppression of diagram schools in the difference diagram.
- phase toothing used in this monopulse antenna no optimized sum, azimuth difference and elevation difference diagrams can be formed, particularly in the case of phase-controlled antenna arrangements with a large number of individual beams.
- the object of the invention is, without such a triple distribution system and thus without the associated effort and the difficulties resulting from this additional effort to achieve a differential assignment in a line-powered, phase-fed antenna equipped with a large number of single radiators, which largely corresponds to the optimum Form (Bayliss) is adapted and has a high secondary attenuation.
- the total assignment should keep its original optimal shape.
- this object is achieved in that, in the same width, on both sides of the line of symmetry, of individual radiator strips running parallel to the line of symmetry, e.g. vertical columns or horizontal rows, existing transition zone, starting from each of the two edges of the transition zone up to the line of symmetry, the number of single-radiators excited in opposite phases in a strip in relation to the number of all single radiators in this strip from 0% on each edge to 50% the line of symmetry increases in the same way.
- a suitable design of the transition zone a constant amplitude transition between the two antenna halves can be achieved, so that the optimal differential assignment can be achieved at least approximately while maintaining the optimal total assignment
- the individual emitters excited in phase opposition are statistically distributed in the strips running parallel to the line of symmetry
- the transition zone can also be designed in such a way that regions are provided periodically and alternately along the symmetry line, on one side and then again on the other side of the symmetry line, in which the individual radiators are excited in phase opposition.
- the antiphase individual radiator regions advantageously have at least approximately the shape of isosceles triangles, the base lines of which coincide with the line of symmetry of the antenna surface.
- the area portion of the opposite, opposite-phase half grows in a wedge shape and thus increases continuously.
- the amplitude of the differential assignment diagram slowly decreases before the line of symmetry and exceeds the zero value with a finite slope at the line of symmetry.
- the increase in the relative number of single-radiators excited in opposite phase in a strip running parallel to the line of symmetry from 0% at the edges to 50% at the line of symmetry running in the middle of the transition zone can be linear, but also non-linear.
- the antiphase periodic individual radiator regions along the lines of symmetry can also be designed and / or distributed in such a way that no orientation errors of the azimuth and / or the axis of ejection occur.
- each single-tracer has a certain relative amplitude, which is fixed for the sum and the difference case.
- a phase jump of 180 ° is forced on the line of symmetry of the antenna surface, whereby a sharp minimum in the main beam direction is generated, but at the same time a very slowly falling outer diagram flank with high side lobes.
- this differential assignment ⁇ o is shown in dash-dotted lines.
- the assignments ⁇ and ⁇ K shown in FIG. 1 apply to a phase-controlled antenna surface of a phase-controlled monopulse antenna shown below in FIG. 2, which is designed according to the invention and is intended to produce a difference diagram in both the azimuth and the elevation plane.
- the differential assignment must be improved both in the azimuth and in the elevation plane, that is to say a steady transition between the antiphase halves must be created both over a vertical plane of symmetry 1 and over a horizontal plane of symmetry 4 of the antenna.
- This continuous amplitude transition between the respective antenna halves, ie between the four quadrants of a phase-controlled antenna surface can be generated according to FIG.
- the quadrant A extends, for example, with its two triangular regions 3 beyond the line of symmetry 1, whereas the likewise triangular regions 2, which are to the left of the line of symmetry 1, belong to the quadrant B.
- the regions 2 are thus operated in opposite phase to the individual radiators of the quadrant A and in phase with the individual radiators of the quadrant B, in comparison to the largest part of the quadrant A, although they lie to the left of the line of symmetry 1.
- the line labeled 5 thus forms a dividing line between the two quadrants A and B.
- the dividing line 6 runs between the quadrants A and C, the dividing line 7 between the quadrants C and D and the dividing line 8 between the quadrants B and D.
- the curve shape A K shown in FIG. 1 can be designed and optimized by the geometric shape given to the antiphase individual radiator regions 2 and 3, which can deviate from the triangle. Such deviations are shown in the circularly encircled detail VAR in FIG. 2.
- FIG. 3 shows how the discrete individual radiators of the phase-controlled antenna according to FIG. 2 are assigned to the individual quadrants A, B, C and D.
- the entire antenna area according to FIG. 2 is not shown here, but only a central area thereof.
- the individual emitters of quadrant A are represented by small vertical lines, the individual emitters of quadrant B by small crosses, the individual emitters of quadrant C by small rings and the individual emitters of quadrant D in small horizontal lines.
- the single radiators are arranged in vertical columns and horizontal rows. In the case of summation diagram formation, all individual emitters of all four quadrants A, B, C and D are in phase or excited in the case of beam deflection with linear phase progression, so that the boundaries between quadrants A to D are ineffective.
- the single tracers of quadrants A and C are in opposite phase to the individual radiators of quadrants B and D
- the individual emitters of quadrants A and B are in phase opposition to the individual emitters of quadrants C and D.
- the dividing line composed of the two parts 5 and 7 (FIG. 2) between the right and left or the dividing line composed of the two parts 6 and 8 between the upper and lower half of the antenna runs periodically, so that when the axes of symmetry approach and exceed 1 or 4 the proportion of single radiators belonging to the opposite half is growing monotonously. This fact emerges from Fig. 2.
- FIG. 5 shows how the discrete individual radiators are assigned to a phase-controlled antenna with line feed, which is assigned in phase opposition to generate the difference diagram in two halves, and are assigned to these two halves.
- the individual radiators in the left half are represented by small crosses (positive phase polarity) and those in the right half by small horizontal lines (negative phase polarity).
- the transition zone Ü v extends to the left and right of a vertical line of symmetry 1 to the left and right.
- the individual radiators are arranged in vertical columns and horizontal rows. In the case of summation diagram formation, all the individual radiators of both halves are in phase or excited in the case of beam deflection with linear phase progression, so that the boundary, ie the transition zone U v , between the two antenna halves becomes ineffective.
- the transition zone Ü v which extends to the left and right along the line of symmetry 1 is designed such that all individual radiators in a vertical stripe have positive phase polarity along their left edge and all single radiators in a vertical stripe have negative phase polarity along their right edge. If one hikes from the left edge to the middle of the transition zone Ü v , the number of negatively phase-polarized single radiators increases in the vertical stripes (columns), whereas when moving from the right edge to the center of the transition zone, the number of positively phase-polarized single-point rays per stripe ( Column) increases. Immediately at the line of symmetry 1 there are about as many positively and negatively phase-polarized single radiators in a vertical stripe.
- the individual emitters excited in opposite phases are statistically distributed.
- the result is a transition zone with a statistical distribution of the single-phase emitters in opposite phases, the density of the individual emitters excited in opposite phases increasing from the two edges to the line of symmetry 1 in the middle of the transition zone U v .
- Such a design of the transition zone Ü v results in an almost optimal differential assignment diagram.
- this principle of static distribution can also be applied to an antenna with difference diagrams in two levels. In this case, four quadrants are provided, which are separated by transition zones along two crossed lines of symmetry.
- FIG. 6 shows the exemplary embodiment of a feed principle for a phase-controlled monopulse antenna for difference diagrams with little lobes according to the invention.
- the four pinned quadrants A, B, C and D are fed by vertical distribution lines V S , which each serve the individual radiators in one column of one of the quadrants A to D and in turn on four horizontal distributors V A assigned to the four quadrants A to D, V B , V C and V D can be summarized.
- the radiator elements in the columns belong, depending on whether they are to the right or left of the zigzag dividing line 5,7, the right antenna half, consisting of the two quadrants B and D, or the left half, of the two Quadrants A and C composite antenna half.
- these vertical distributor lines V S which run parallel to one another, are indicated by continuous, dashed or dashed lines which are each coupled only to the individual radiators belonging to their quadrant A, B, C or D.
- the radiator couplings are indicated by cross marks on the vertical distribution lines V S.
- the two distribution lines V S belonging to a column can be arranged back-to-back in a space-saving manner. If necessary, the two distribution lines can also be arranged on a common carrier plate in the vertically running transition zone or the carrier plate is divided into parts responsible for the right or left half, which are then fed by the distributor for quadrants A, B or C, D. .
- the outputs a, b, c, and d of the horizontally running distributors V A , V B , V C and V D are combined in the usual manner on a monopulse comparator K to the sum channel E, azimuth difference channel ⁇ AZ and elevation difference channel ⁇ EL one arranges the horizontal distributors V A to V D more in the middle of the quadrants A to D or in the middle of the entire antenna in order to reduce the cable lengths between the individual radiators and the comparator K.
- the assignment of the distribution lines V S to the horizontal or vertical level can be interchanged, so that the distribution lines no longer supply the columns but the rows and thus run horizontally.
- An advantageous development of the principle according to the invention is that a correction is also made in the outer area of the differential assignment according to FIG.
- individual radiators are also fed from the distributor of the neighboring quadrant in the outer part of quadrants A, B, C and D. Individual radiators in regions of the halves of the antenna surface which are further away from the lines of symmetry are then excited in opposite phase.

Abstract
In order to achieve an improved monopulse difference diagram, a single-radiator strip running parallel to the symmetrical line, e.g., between the halves of a phase-controlled antenna consisting of many individual radiators and along a symmetry line (1) separating the halves, vertical columns or horizontal rows, existing transition zone (Üv) created, in which, starting from each edge up to the line of symmetry in the middle of the transition zone, the number of individual emitters excited in opposite phase compared to the number of all individual emitters lying in a strip from 0% each edge increases up to 50% on the line of symmetry in the same way. This principle applies in particular to a monopulse antenna, which is to generate a difference diagram for both the azimuth and the elevation and which consists of four quadrants excited in pairs in opposite phases. The antenna according to the invention is suitable, for example, for use as a radar antenna with tracking properties.
Description
The invention relates to a line-fed phase-controlled antenna with a multiplicity of individual radiators arranged in a symmetrical area for generating a summation diagram and a difference diagram, which is generated by the phase assignment of the individual radiators on both sides of the line of symmetry, with a transition zone between the lines along this line of symmetry antiphase amplitude assignments is provided.
Electronically phase-controlled antennas can be operated like conventional radar antennas, which are equipped with a primary radiator system and a parabolic reflector, to increase the accuracy of the target location and for target tracking in the so-called monopulse method, which uses a sum diagram and usually two difference diagrams for the azimuth plane and the evation plane. In order to enable a flat design and to optimize the amplitude assignment and thus the secondary tip attenuation in the summation diagram, line supply is often used in phase-controlled antennas, in which each of the single radiators is controlled via a line belonging to a distribution network. The optimum amplitude assignment for the sum diagram over the antenna area is also effective in terms of amount for the azimuth and elevation difference diagrams, for which it is no longer optimal, but rather produces relatively high side lobes that only slowly decrease from the antenna axis direction.
-40 dB erforderlich istExtensive optimization of the sum and difference amplitude assignment can be achieved by using the radiation feed principle by special measures on the quadruple primary radiator. Disadvantages due to the radiation feed are the large installation depth of the phase-controlled antenna arrangement and the limited accuracy for achieving a target assignment, such as that required for a maximum side lobe level of e.g. -40 dB is required
From the essay by H.Öttl and L.Thomanek: "Monopulse antenna of the ground station for satellite radio of the Deutsche Versuchsanstalt für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V." In the magazine "NTZ" 1968, Issue 10, p.631-634, a line-fed phase-controlled antenna with a number of individual radiators arranged in a symmetrical area for generating a summation diagram and two difference diagrams is known, which is due to opposite-phase amplitude assignments of the single-tracer on both sides two lines of symmetry are generated. The two lines of symmetry divide the antenna area into four quadrants. Along these lines of symmetry, a toothing of the antiphase amplitude assignments is provided when generating the difference diagrams. The interlocking results from the fact that the two lines of symmetry between the quadrants are equipped with single radiators and, in alternating order, belong to the adjacent quadrants. This phase interlocking for the formation of the difference diagram contributes to the improvement of the side lobe behavior and the suppression of diagram schools in the difference diagram. With the phase toothing used in this monopulse antenna, however, no optimized sum, azimuth difference and elevation difference diagrams can be formed, particularly in the case of phase-controlled antenna arrangements with a large number of individual beams.
Applying three separate distribution systems for optimized sum, Azimutd i fferenz- and elevation difference channels requires three inputs per individual radiators with large impedance, Verkopplungs- and loss problems.
The object of the invention is, without such a triple distribution system and thus without the associated effort and the difficulties resulting from this additional effort to achieve a differential assignment in a line-powered, phase-fed antenna equipped with a large number of single radiators, which largely corresponds to the optimum Form (Bayliss) is adapted and has a high secondary attenuation. The total assignment should keep its original optimal shape.
Durch geeignete Ausbildung der Übergangszone läßt sich ein stetiger Amplitudenübergang zwischen den beiden Antennenhälften erreichen, so daß sich die optimale Differenzbelegung zumindest angenähert unter Beibehaltung der optimalen Summenbelegung erreichen läßtAccording to the invention, which relates to a line-fed, phase-controlled antenna of the type mentioned at the outset, this object is achieved in that, in the same width, on both sides of the line of symmetry, of individual radiator strips running parallel to the line of symmetry, e.g. vertical columns or horizontal rows, existing transition zone, starting from each of the two edges of the transition zone up to the line of symmetry, the number of single-radiators excited in opposite phases in a strip in relation to the number of all single radiators in this strip from 0% on each edge to 50% the line of symmetry increases in the same way. With a suitable design of the transition zone, a constant amplitude transition between the two antenna halves can be achieved, so that the optimal differential assignment can be achieved at least approximately while maintaining the optimal total assignment
In vorteilhafter Weise sind die gegenphasig erregten Einzelstrahler in den parallel zur Symmetrielinie nebeneinander verlaufenden Streifen statistisch verteiltIn an advantageous manner, the individual emitters excited in phase opposition are statistically distributed in the strips running parallel to the line of symmetry
The transition zone can also be designed in such a way that regions are provided periodically and alternately along the symmetry line, on one side and then again on the other side of the symmetry line, in which the individual radiators are excited in phase opposition.
In this case, the antiphase individual radiator regions advantageously have at least approximately the shape of isosceles triangles, the base lines of which coincide with the line of symmetry of the antenna surface. In this case, the area portion of the opposite, opposite-phase half grows in a wedge shape and thus increases continuously. In this case, the amplitude of the differential assignment diagram slowly decreases before the line of symmetry and exceeds the zero value with a finite slope at the line of symmetry.
The increase in the relative number of single-radiators excited in opposite phase in a strip running parallel to the line of symmetry from 0% at the edges to 50% at the line of symmetry running in the middle of the transition zone can be linear, but also non-linear.
To generate a first difference diagram in azimuth and a second difference diagram in elevation, there are a vertical and a horizontal symmetry line, which divide the antenna area into four quadrants. However, those quadrants do not include those single radiators that are excited in phase opposition along the respective symmetry line sections in the transition zones, whereas those single radiators belong that are in phase along the respective symmetry line sections in the transition zones on the other side of these line sections. To form the difference diagram in The two quadrants lying essentially to the left of the vertical line of symmetry are azimuthally opposed to the other two quadrants, whereas to form the difference diagram in elevation, the two quadrants lying essentially above the horizontal line of symmetry are excited in phase opposition to the other two quadrants. To generate the summation diagram, all single-tracers of the antenna area are in phase or, in the case of beam deflection, are excited with a linear phase progression.
Small orientation errors of the azimuth and / or the axis of the phase-controlled antenna can be corrected by slight axial rotation of the antenna. The antiphase periodic individual radiator regions along the lines of symmetry can also be designed and / or distributed in such a way that no orientation errors of the azimuth and / or the axis of ejection occur.

Die Summenbeiegung E muß jedoch ihre ursprüngliche optimale Form beibehalten.1 shows the amplitude assignments Σ, Δ o and Δ K for generating an optimal summation diagram and two different difference diagrams in one plane. In the case of line-fed phase-controlled antennas, each single-tracer has a certain relative amplitude, which is fixed for the sum and the difference case. In the case of a difference, a phase jump of 180 ° is forced on the line of symmetry of the antenna surface, whereby a sharp minimum in the main beam direction is generated, but at the same time a very slowly falling outer diagram flank with high side lobes. In Fig. 1, this differential assignment Δ o is shown in dash-dotted lines. A constant transition between the two antisymmetric halves allows the differential assignment to be largely adapted to the optimum shape (Bayliss) and the secondary lobe attenuation thereby increased. This favorable differential assignment is denoted by Δ k in FIG. 1. However, the total deflection E must maintain its original optimal shape.
The assignments Σ and Δ K shown in FIG. 1 apply to a phase-controlled antenna surface of a phase-controlled monopulse antenna shown below in FIG. 2, which is designed according to the invention and is intended to produce a difference diagram in both the azimuth and the elevation plane. The differential assignment must be improved both in the azimuth and in the elevation plane, that is to say a steady transition between the antiphase halves must be created both over a vertical plane of
The quadrant A extends, for example, with its two triangular regions 3 beyond the line of
In particular, the curve shape A K shown in FIG. 1 can be designed and optimized by the geometric shape given to the antiphase individual radiator regions 2 and 3, which can deviate from the triangle. Such deviations are shown in the circularly encircled detail VAR in FIG. 2.
Dieser Sachverhalt geht aus Fig.2 hervor.FIG. 3 shows how the discrete individual radiators of the phase-controlled antenna according to FIG. 2 are assigned to the individual quadrants A, B, C and D. The entire antenna area according to FIG. 2 is not shown here, but only a central area thereof. The individual emitters of quadrant A are represented by small vertical lines, the individual emitters of quadrant B by small crosses, the individual emitters of quadrant C by small rings and the individual emitters of quadrant D in small horizontal lines. The single radiators are arranged in vertical columns and horizontal rows. In the case of summation diagram formation, all individual emitters of all four quadrants A, B, C and D are in phase or excited in the case of beam deflection with linear phase progression, so that the boundaries between quadrants A to D are ineffective. In the case of difference in azimuth, the single tracers of quadrants A and C are in opposite phase to the individual radiators of quadrants B and D, in the case of difference in elevation, the individual emitters of quadrants A and B are in phase opposition to the individual emitters of quadrants C and D. The dividing line composed of the two
Possible small orientation errors of the azimuth / elevation axis can be avoided by a special choice of the dividing lines between the antenna halves. A division of the quadrants A, B, C and D by
In diesem Fall sind vier Quadranten vorgesehen, die durch Übergangszonen entlang zweier gekreuzter Symmetrielinien getrennt sind.FIG. 5 shows how the discrete individual radiators are assigned to a phase-controlled antenna with line feed, which is assigned in phase opposition to generate the difference diagram in two halves, and are assigned to these two halves. The individual radiators in the left half are represented by small crosses (positive phase polarity) and those in the right half by small horizontal lines (negative phase polarity). The transition zone Ü v extends to the left and right of a vertical line of
Die Strahlerankopplungen sind durch Querstriche an den senkrechten Verteilerleitungen VS angedeutet.FIG. 6 shows the exemplary embodiment of a feed principle for a phase-controlled monopulse antenna for difference diagrams with little lobes according to the invention. The four pinned quadrants A, B, C and D are fed by vertical distribution lines V S , which each serve the individual radiators in one column of one of the quadrants A to D and in turn on four horizontal distributors V A assigned to the four quadrants A to D, V B , V C and V D can be summarized. In the vertical transition zone, the radiator elements in the columns belong, depending on whether they are to the right or left of the
When the distribution lines V s are designed using triplate or microstrip technology, the two distribution lines V S belonging to a column can be arranged back-to-back in a space-saving manner. If necessary, the two distribution lines can also be arranged on a common carrier plate in the vertically running transition zone or the carrier plate is divided into parts responsible for the right or left half, which are then fed by the distributor for quadrants A, B or C, D. . The outputs a, b, c, and d of the horizontally running distributors V A , V B , V C and V D are combined in the usual manner on a monopulse comparator K to the sum channel E, azimuth difference channel Δ AZ and elevation difference channel Δ EL one arranges the horizontal distributors V A to V D more in the middle of the quadrants A to D or in the middle of the entire antenna in order to reduce the cable lengths between the individual radiators and the comparator K.
The assignment of the distribution lines V S to the horizontal or vertical level can be interchanged, so that the distribution lines no longer supply the columns but the rows and thus run horizontally.
An advantageous development of the principle according to the invention is that a correction is also made in the outer area of the differential assignment according to FIG. For this purpose, individual radiators are also fed from the distributor of the neighboring quadrant in the outer part of quadrants A, B, C and D. Individual radiators in regions of the halves of the antenna surface which are further away from the lines of symmetry are then excited in opposite phase.
