Die gestellte Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß dadurch gelöst, daß das Farbband zwischen zwei die Farbbandbreitseiten abdeckenden und als beiderseitigen Farbbandschutz dienenden Folien verläuft, daß an den Stellen der Druckelemente in beiden Folien konzentrische Durchtrittsöffnungen für die Druckelemente vorgesehen sind, und daß zum leichteren Einführen des Farbbandes eine der beiden Folien über die volle Länge eine geringere Breite aufweist als die jeweils andere Folie. Die Druckelemente drücken nur durch die Durchtrittsöffnungen das Farbband auf den Aufzeichnungsträger. Im übrigen wird ein Farbbandschmieren absolut verhindert. Bei entsprechender Oberflächenglätte gleitet das Farbband jedoch auch besonders leicht zwischen den Folien, so daß die Reibung auf dem Druckelementträger ausgeschaltet wird und vorteilhafterweise gleichzeitig das Mitnehmen des Farbbandes durch den Aufzeichnungsträger (Papierfaiz) verhindert wird. Claims (7)

1. Device for matrix printers, especially for matrix line printers, which possess a printing element carrier (1) opposite a writing support (2), the recording means (4) resting on the writing support (2) and a colour ribbon (5), moved forwards continuously or intermittently, being guided between the printing elements (7) and the recording means (4), with which colour ribbon a colour ribbon protector (9) is associated, which on the one hand lies between colour ribbon (5) and recording means (4) and possesses, at the positions of the printing elements (7), through-openings (10) for the printing elements (7), characterized in that the colour ribbon (5) runs between two sheets (8 and 9), covering the wide faces of the colour ribbon and serving as colour ribbon protector on both sides, that at the positions of the printing elements (7) concentric through-openings (10) are provided in both sheets (8, 9) for the printing elements (7), and that, to facilitate introduction of the colour ribbon (5), one of the two sheets (8 or 9) has a smaller width over its entire length than the other sheet.
2. Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the thickness (11) of the two sheets (8 and 9) together is smaller than the stroke of the relevant printing element (7).
3. Device according to Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the two sheets (8 and 9) are of plastics.
4. Device according to Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the sheets (8 and 9) are of transparent, flexible materials.
5. Device according to Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the two sheets (8 and 9) are connected together at the foot (13) in the longitudinal direction (14).
6. Device according to Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the connection (15) at the foot (13) of the two sheets (8 and 9) consists of a glued connection and of a magnetic foil (17).
7. Device according to Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the connection (15) at the foot (13) of the two sheets (8, 9) is provided with cut-outs (19) at intervals in the longitudinal direction (14), which in the operating position engage into locating projections (20) which are provided on the printing element carrier (1).
