Abstract
The proposed warming jug consists of a particularly glass inner container (1) and a plastic sheathing (2, 3), the sealing between the inner container and the plastic sheathing taking place exclusively by means of an elastic interlocking of the components mentioned.
Description
The invention relates to a warming can according to the preamble of patent claim 1, that is to say a pouring container which is particularly suitable for storing hot drinks and consists of an inner container which holds the hot liquid and a heat-insulating jacket surrounding it.
A large number of warming cans are known, in which the inner container itself is designed to be heat-insulating in the form of a double-walled so-called Dewar vessel and is surrounded by a shock-proof jacket for its mechanical protection (see, for example, DE-GM 81 12 201 and DE-AS 26 58 295). In addition, warming cans are known which consist of a glass inner container, an insulating layer surrounding it - for example made of plastic foam - and an outer jacket which is made of metal, for example (see e.g. DE-PS 30 45 896). Furthermore, in another context, DE-OS 29 52 557 shows a coffee pot which consists of a glass inner container and a surrounding, two-part, non-insulating protective jacket.
All of these warming cans, which have a glass inner container and a casing enclosing it, have the problem of a secure and permanent seal between the glass vessel and the casing; because of the manufacturing process, the glass inner containers used can only be provided with relatively large dimensional tolerances, and as a result the casings must be designed in such a way that they can absorb the glass tolerances. Since there is generally a requirement that no liquids are allowed to penetrate into the space between the glass container and the casing, where they would lead to permanent contamination, compressible sealing rings are usually inserted at the joints of the can parts, which also take on the dimensional tolerance compensation. So far no solutions have become known which ensure a reliable seal between the inner glass container and the casing without such additional tolerance-compensating sealants.
Since the sealing rings in question, which, based on existing regulations, must consist of materials classified as physiologically harmless, put a considerable burden on the manufacturing costs of such cans not only in terms of material costs, but also in terms of assembly work, there has long been the task of finding a constructive solution for such To find cans, which made the use of such sealing rings unnecessary.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in a warming can of the type mentioned at the outset, which has a glass inner container, an insulating layer and an outer shell made of elastic plastic material surrounding it, in that the upper part of the outer shell has a circumferential collar which overlaps the edge of the glass inner container, the inner edge of which has no any additional sealant rests around the inside of the glass container rim under elastic prestress. It has been shown that the elastic prestressing of the inside edge of the collar produced by elastic deformation of the said collar edge ensures the required sealing. Due to the elastic deformability of the collar and its inner edge, dimensional deviations of the glass container of a few millimeters are easily absorbed both in the radial and in the axial direction. According to the invention, the security of the seal can be increased further in that the inner edge of the collar has a labyrinth of seals made of circumferential sealing lips.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the glass container has a radially widening upper edge region, on which the inner edge of the collar of the plastic outer shell is sealingly supported under radial and / or axial elastic prestress. In order to be able to influence the rigidity of the collar and thus its deformability, which is important for the sealing effect, and to be able to adapt it to the conditions of the overall construction, it is proposed in a further embodiment of the invention to form radial ribs in the angle enclosed by the side wall of the outer shell upper part and the collar, which form the collar Gradually stiffen as needed.
The outer shell upper part is preferably designed in such a way that its lower edge overlaps the upper edge of the base part, the base part having a circumferential radial projection which, under radial pressure, lies around the inner surface of the upper part in a sealing manner under radial pressure. The radial press fit achieved in this way achieves a permanent, secure seal between the two outer shell parts, an approximately triangular cross-sectional shape with the tip pointing outwards having proven particularly useful for the circumferential radial projection. Furthermore, it has proven to be advantageous to make the upper part stronger in the contact area of the radial projection, which can be achieved in particular by increasing the wall thickness in this area compared to the rest of the side wall.
The upper and lower parts of the outer shell are preferably provided with interlocking fixing means, which are arranged on the inner wall of the upper part and the outer wall of the bottom part, in the region which, after they have been assembled, lies above the sealing radial projection. These fixing means are preferably designed as corresponding undercuts which engage under pre-tension acting parallel to the central axis of the can and which, in various advantageous embodiments, have the shape of an internal and external thread or have radial pin and these corresponding recesses or a Bejonett locking.
In an embodiment of the invention which can advantageously be used in coffee machines with a hotplate, the bottom part of the outer shell is a ring which exposes the entire middle part of the glass container bottom with an upward-looking, circumferential sealing lip and which is sealed all around at the edge area of the jug under parallel to the central axis of the jug Glass container bottom supporting inner edge. The middle part of the glass container base which is left free in this way can thus be brought into direct thermal contact with the warming plate of the coffee machine. The proposed design of the inner edge of the base ring also ensures a secure seal to the inner glass container, this construction also contributing to compensating for height tolerances of the inner glass container. Expediently, radial ribs can be formed in the angle between the side wall of the base part and the collar extending to the inner edge, which bring about a specific stiffening of the collar, which enables flexible adaptation to special features of the overall construction.
Although the intermediate space surrounding the glass inner container and sealed on all sides by the outer shell according to the invention is already an effective thermal insulation layer, in preferred embodiments of the invention it is filled or preferably filled with insulating materials known per se, such as - in particular spherical - foamed plastic particles completely foamed with fine-pored plastic foam.
- As the longitudinal section shown through a coffee pot of the type according to the invention suitable for use in coffee machines with a hotplate shows this consists of a non-heat-insulating, preferably made of glass inner container 1, which is enclosed by the outer shell composed of the
upper part 2 and the bottom part 3. The top of the jug can be closed with a lid 4. A circumferential collar 2.1 is formed on theupper part 2, which overlaps the edge 1.1 of the container 1 and, with its inner edge 2.3, rests in a form-fitting, sealing manner on the inside of the container edge 1.1 under elastic prestress. In the illustrated embodiment, the upper edge 1.1 of the container 1 is formed inclined outwards, so that the inner edge 2.3 of the collar 2.1 is supported on it in a form-fitting manner under radial and axial elastic prestress. In the angular space enclosed by the side wall of the outer shellupper part 2 and the collar 2.1, stiffening ribs 2.4 are formed which influence the flexibility of the collar 2.1 and can also serve as a stop for the upper edge of the container.
The bottom part 3 inserted into the outer shell
Above the radial projection 3.1 which effects the radial seal between the
It is also surprising for the relevant specialist that all three seals shown - i.e. the inner collar edge 2.3 resting on the container edge 1.1, the inner edge 3.3 of the base part 3 which is supported on the edge region of the container base 1.2 and the radial pressure by the projection 3.1 - function so reliably in the long term that even with regular cleaning of such coffee pots in dishwashers, no moisture penetrates into their heat-insulating space between the walls. It should be emphasized again that this result is achieved without using any auxiliary means, such as elastic or plastic sealing rings or adhesives.
