Definitions
- the invention relates to a metal halide high pressure discharge lamp according to the first part of the main claim.
- mercury vapor high pressure discharge lamps with addition of rare earth halides, in particular dysprosium and / or holmium and / or thulium, are known. These lamps with a luminous efficacy of greater than 85 Im / W are intended to emit radiation which has a spectral composition that is as similar as possible to daylight and a light color of approximately 6000 K with a color rendering index of greater than 90. Lamps of this type are used in particular in lighting systems for stage, film and television, where a color temperature as close as possible to daylight and very good color rendering are required.
- a metal halide high-pressure discharge lamp is known from US Pat. No. 3,852,630, which has an addition of gadolinium iodide, a color temperature of 4950 K and a color rendering index of 83.5 being achieved.
- lamps with this filling composition and power consumption below 4000 W produce light that achieves the desired values of color temperature and color rendering.
- lamps of higher power consumption and the same halide composition however, the color temperature of the light drops significantly, so that these lamps no longer meet the requirements placed on them.
- a color temperature of approx. 6000 K is necessary because the installation of such lamps in lighting systems causes the color temperature of the emitted light to drop by several 100 K due to the design and configuration of the system.
- the illuminating light must have a color temperature of approx. 5600 K, so that the lamps without a lighting system should have a light with a color temperature of approx. 6000 K.
- the aim of the invention was therefore to find metal halide compositions and quantity ranges for these compositions, with which even in the case of high-pressure discharge lamps with power consumption, well over 4000 W of light can be generated which has a color temperature of approximately 6000 K with very good color rendering.
- the metal halide high pressure discharge lamp with the features mentioned in the preamble of the main claim is characterized according to the invention by the features mentioned in the characterizing part of the main claim.
- the radiation emission in metal halide high-pressure discharge lamps with a power consumption of 4000 W and more is essentially determined by transitions from highly excited states (Rydberg atoms) and by the radiation transitions in multiply charged ions.
- the incomplete or free inner shells of rare earths e.g. Ho: 4f, 5d, 5f in LS coupling
- a well-functioning halogen circuit is particularly important for a long medium life. Optimal conditions for an average lifespan of 250 hours are achieved in the above lamp if the discharge vessel contains bromine and / or iodine as halogens and these elements are present in an excess of halogen in the discharge vessel which exceeds the stoichiometric ratio of the rare earth halide compounds.
- the discharge vessel also contains cesium to produce a diffuse arc.
- the amount of cesium must be such that it is just sufficient to stabilize the bow. However, it must not exceed this amount, since cesium accelerates the devitrification and the highly stressed lamps here have bulb temperatures of approx. 900 ° C, which are only slightly below the transformation point for quartz glass at approx. 1100 ° C.
- the discharge vessel 2 of quartz mm with a wall thickness of 5 and an outer diameter d 1 of 65 mm has two lamp shafts 3, 4.
- the total length 1 1 with the shafts 3, 4 is 465 mm.
- the rod-shaped tungsten electrodes 5, 6 are connected to the sleeve bases 9, 10 via molybdenum foils 7, 8, which are melted vacuum-tight into the lamp shafts 3, 4 and have a diameter d 2 of 25.5 mm and a length 1 2 of 60 mm to have.
- the standardized bases 9, 10 of type K 25s also have connection cables 11, 12 of 150 mm length with cable lugs 13, 14.
- the discharge vessel 2 with a volume of 105.5 cm 3 and an electrode spacing of 32 mm has a filling which consists of 12.6 mg Ho, 12.0 mg Gd, 60.6 mg CsBr, 90.0 mg HgBr 2 and 70.7 mg HgJ 2 and an additional 939.6 mg elemental Hg and 400 hPa Ar.
- the luminous efficacy of the metal halide high-pressure discharge lamp 1 with a color temperature of 6000 K and a color rendering index Ra of greater than 95 is 84 Im / W.
- the lamp is operated on a supply voltage of 380 V in burning position p 15 and has a burning voltage of 225 V at a current of 65 A.
- FIG. 2 a spectrum of light in the range of a wavelength between 350 and 780 nm, as emitted by the lamp shown in FIG. 1, is compared with a daylight spectrum D (60) (according to the CIE standard) with a color temperature of 6000 K.
- D daylight spectrum
- the figure shows that the spectral radiance of the lamp according to the invention largely corresponds to the daylight curve of 6000 K.
