Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing coupling parts by casting, in which a coupling ball with a bore is inserted into a casting mold in such a way that an annular cavity remains around the coupling ball, which is delimited by the spherical outer surface of the coupling ball, the central axis the bore is perpendicular to the annular cavity and the coupling ball is rotatable after filling the cavity with cast iron and after it has cooled.
- the object to be achieved with the invention is seen in a simple casting process with few process steps for a cast part which rotatably receives a ball.
- This object has been achieved according to the invention in that the coupling ball is inserted as part of a casting core into the casting mold and in that the casting core device is produced from a hard sand core which is inserted into the central bore of the coupling ball.
- the coupling ball forms part of a casting core which is guided through the bore of the ball, so that the ball always has a correct fit.
- Casting core with ball can be easily installed in a casting box, in which an annular cavity is previously formed. This cavity is then filled with liquid cast iron, so that an annular coupling part is formed around the coupling ball, the coupling ball applied to the casting core simultaneously forming the spherical bearing surface during the casting process. After the casting process, only the core receiving the coupling ball needs to be destroyed, and the coupling part is ready for use after some cleaning work.
- the coupling ball is made of a different material than the annular coupling part, a gap is formed during the cooling process of the coupling part between the surface of the coupling ball and the spherical bearing surface of the coupling part, so that the coupling ball can be freely pivoted about its axis in each direction.
- the coupling ball is held by means of magnetic elements on loosely inserted support elements in the core box during the production of the casting core of the casting core device. In this way, the coupling ball can be easily applied to the casting core.
- the coupling ball is made of steel.
- the coupling ball may also be advantageous for the coupling ball to be provided with a coating which prevents the cast iron from connecting to the steel ball, and for the coupling part for receiving the coupling ball to be made from cast iron which has a high elasticity.
- the bearing 16 is located between two recesses 18 which are embedded in the supporting part 11 on both sides.
- the recesses 18 form a circular or oval ring 20, the axis of which extends coaxially to the bore or to the central axis thereof.
- the coupling ball 12 can be freely rotated or pivoted about the central axis 15 in the bearing 16.
- the coupling ball 12 is embedded or cast into the coupling element by means of the casting method according to the invention.
- a casting core device 50 is created for this purpose, which serves to receive the coupling ball 12 within the casting core device or a casting core made of hard sand.
- the casting core 52 runs through the bore 14 of the coupling ball 12.
- the outer surface of the Casting core device later forms the surface of the coupling ball 12.
- the mold core assembly 50 is made to hold the steel coupling ball 12 in place on a core box loose part (not shown) by attaching a magnetic press part (not shown) to the loose part. The loose part is then introduced into the cavity of the core box (not shown) so that the bore 14 of the coupling ball 12 can receive the casting sand when the core box is filled to create the casting core device 50 (Fig. 5).
- the casting core device When the preparations for creating the casting core device have been made, the casting core device is placed in the casting box accordingly (see the line PL according to FIG. 5) in order to form the corresponding casting cavity 56.
- the casting cavity 56 forms the ring 20 with the inner bearing surface 16, which defines the outer surface 54 of the coupling ball 12.
- the mold halves are brought together and thus form the molding sand parting joint PL (FIG. 5).
- the liquid cast iron is then introduced into the casting cavity 56.
- the casting is then cooled, the mold is removed and the surface is then processed and cleaned accordingly.
- the cast iron shrinks, and a space is created between the bearing surface 16 and the enclosed coupling ball 12, so that the coupling ball 12 can rotate freely about the central axis 15.
- a coated or painted steel ball it has been found that no coating is required for the coupling ball 12 which should prevent liquid cast iron from adhering to the surface of the coupling ball before the cast iron stiffens.
- the coupling ball 12 is now enclosed or captured by the bearing surface 16, it can rotate freely in this bearing surface or in this bearing ring. If the coupling ball is initially deep-frozen within the bearing surface 16, it can be released by inserting a prying lever into the bore 14 and by the lever forces that occur, so that the coupling ball 12 can rotate freely.
- the casting process described contributes to cost reduction, since very complex, costly processing steps can be saved, which are necessary, for example, in a conventional method, such as the creation of a casting core for the coupling ball 12.
- Connecting elements of any kind for standardized handlebars of tractors with coupling balls can be used the casting process described.

Description
The invention relates to a method for producing coupling parts by casting, in which a coupling ball with a bore is inserted into a casting mold in such a way that an annular cavity remains around the coupling ball, which is delimited by the spherical outer surface of the coupling ball, the central axis the bore is perpendicular to the annular cavity and the coupling ball is rotatable after filling the cavity with cast iron and after it has cooled.
In this known method (US Pat. No. 3,786,543), the coupling ball is inserted into a casting mold together with a metallic pin serving as the core, and is stabilized or held in the casting mold by a further metallic pin. In order to avoid centralization problems in particular, the mold is also made of metal. This known method is therefore complex.
The object to be achieved with the invention is seen in a simple casting process with few process steps for a cast part which rotatably receives a ball. This object has been achieved according to the invention in that the coupling ball is inserted as part of a casting core into the casting mold and in that the casting core device is produced from a hard sand core which is inserted into the central bore of the coupling ball.
In this way, the coupling ball forms part of a casting core which is guided through the bore of the ball, so that the ball always has a correct fit. Casting core with ball can be easily installed in a casting box, in which an annular cavity is previously formed. Since the coupling ball is made of a different material than the annular coupling part, a gap is formed during the cooling process of the coupling part between the surface of the coupling ball and the spherical bearing surface of the coupling part, so that the coupling ball can be freely pivoted about its axis in each direction.
In a further embodiment of the invention it is advantageous that the coupling ball is held by means of magnetic elements on loosely inserted support elements in the core box during the production of the casting core of the casting core device. In this way, the coupling ball can be easily applied to the casting core.
In order to avoid a connection between the coupling ball and the annular coupling part, it is advantageous that the coupling ball is made of steel. For this purpose, it may also be advantageous for the coupling ball to be provided with a coating which prevents the cast iron from connecting to the steel ball, and for the coupling part for receiving the coupling ball to be made from cast iron which has a high elasticity.

In the drawing, 10 denotes a coupling element of a motor vehicle, not shown in the drawing, for example a tractor, which is produced by the casting method according to the invention. The
As can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3, the
The mold core assembly 50 is made to hold the
When the preparations for creating the casting core device have been made, the casting core device is placed in the casting box accordingly (see the line PL according to FIG. 5) in order to form the
If the casting core device 50 is placed accordingly, the mold halves are brought together and thus form the molding sand parting joint PL (FIG. 5). The liquid cast iron is then introduced into the
The casting process described contributes to cost reduction, since very complex, costly processing steps can be saved, which are necessary, for example, in a conventional method, such as the creation of a casting core for the
