Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for monitoring and regulating the drop speed in the ink supply system of an inkjet printer and an arrangement according to the preamble of claim 3.
Mit dieser Anordnung soll ein von Zeichen zu Zeichen intermittierender Schreibbetrieb mit guter Schriftqualität erreicht werden.DE-C 24 11 822 describes a control arrangement for an inkjet printer which comprises a tachometer generator for determining the write head speed and a first and a second differentiation stage for differentiating corresponding signals. This arrangement is intended to achieve intermittent writing operation with good font quality from character to character.
The other known methods and arrangements for regulating the drop speed for ink jet printers of the type mentioned (e.g. US-A-4 063 252) are not suitable for achieving the object on which the invention is based, which essentially consists in taking into account the im Operation constantly changing and influencing the operational safety of the inkjet printer rheological ink properties to ensure exact monitoring and control of the ink supply system.
- - During the intermediate period without writing or recording (PHASING), a first, relatively small number of drops is weakly charged and a second, approximately twice as large number of drops remains uncharged,
- a signal approximately proportional to the drop speed of the first, weakly charged drops is determined and used to monitor and regulate the drop speed.
- The arrangement according to the invention is characterized by the feature in the characterizing part of claim 3. Further features of the invention result from the following description in conjunction with the drawing and the claims.
The invention is described below with reference to the drawing. In the drawing shown as a block diagram, 50 denotes an ink supply system for an ink jet printer. The
Further components of the
At this point, it should be pointed out that for better differentiation of the individual lines which carry the ink from the reservoir 7 to the
The mode of operation of the
For the recording process, the drops T 'supplied by the charge detector 4 to the deflecting electrode 5 are deflected electrostatically as drops T' equivalent to their charge when the deflecting electrode 5 flies through them, corresponding to the typeface, onto the respective web B and displaced by 90 ° for better illustration Feed system shown, recording medium 20 (writing film) sprayed. In this case, the drops T "which are not required for the recording process and are therefore also not deflected, are collected by the catcher tube 6 and via the
In the described
In the case of the
With the charging of the drop sequence described above, a preferred alternating voltage signal, which acts on the ink supply control sequence, is essentially achieved at the charge detector 4, which signal is rectified in the
