Zu diesem Zweck wird durch die Bewegung des ersten Fadenführungselementes 7 nicht nur der Faden vorgelegt, sondern gleichzeitig das sich in die Fadensaugvorrichtung 6 erstreckende Fadenstück in den Bereich einer Fadentrennvorrichtung 60 gebracht, die möglichst nahe der Ansaugöffnung der Fadensaugvorrichtung 6 angeordnet ist. In Fortführung seiner Vorlagebewegung wird nun das zweite Fadenführungselement 8 für das Aufwinden der Reservewindung vom Spulenteller 4 weg in Richtung zur Hülsenmitte und wieder zum Spulenteller hin bewegt. Dadurch wird eine Reservewicklung erreicht, die durch die Rückwärtsbewegung des Fadenführungselementes 8 nochmals überwickelt wird, so daß das sich zum Spulenteller nach außen erstreckende Fadenende durch diese Überwicklung gesichert wird. Durch seine Rückwärtsbewegung bis in seine Ausgangslage zurück bewegt sich das zweite Fadenführungselement 8 schließlich aus dem Fadenlauf heraus und gibt somit den Faden wieder frei, der nunmehr nur noch durch die Fadenführungsgabel 5 in der Radialebene der Stirnfläche des Spulentellers 4 geführt ist. Eine Abweisschulter 42 (Figur 3a) am Spulenteller 4, die auf der der Spulenhülse 3 zugewandten Seite des Spulentellers 4 liegt, stellt sicher, daß die Lage der Fadenreservewicklung auf der Spulenhülse exakt eingehalten wird. Überraschenderweise hat es sich gezeigt, daß bei der erfindungsgemäßen Ausbildung der Schlitze dieses Verlorengehen auf einfache Weise vermieden wird. Der Faden rutscht in den Schlitzen, die jetzt bis auf die innere Zentrierschulter 41 reichen, an der Stirnfläche der Spulenhülse vorbei in das Innere und verbleibt dort während des gesamten Spulvorganges geschützt.
