Description

The invention relates to a device for packaging cigarettes, according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

Such a device is known from DE-C-508 641. The fact that the support rod is arranged centrally or centrally with respect to the longitudinal extension of the cigarettes, this must be raised to the level of the upper support surface of the plunger before they can be completely withdrawn from the chutes of the cigarette magazine, otherwise there would be a risk that the cigarettes tip over or fall down without any hindrance by the carrying rod over the free upper edge of the plunger due to their own weight, with the result that jams, inclinations, etc. of the cigarettes occur. Accordingly, the working speed of the known device is limited.

The invention has for its object to develop a device of the known type so that an orderly passage of the cigarettes from entry into the shafts of the cigarette magazine until ejection is ensured at higher working speeds.

This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.

In the construction according to the invention, the trailing cigarettes are accordingly lowered step by step until the lower support is reached, and this with changing inclination of the cigarettes, by first supporting them at a lower level at one end and then at an even lower level at the other end. The ends of the retracting plungers form a first support of the facing ends of the cigarettes, the opposite end of which (temporarily) rest on a support rod which extends at a shorter distance from the lower support. As soon as the plungers are completely withdrawn from the shafts, the ends of the cigarettes facing them are lowered further, below the height specified by the support rod, in particular up to the support. The support rod is then moved out of its support position so that the cigarettes completely reach the lower end position.

In this step-by-step lowering process with alternating movement of the one and the other ends, mechanical stresses on the cigarettes, but also canting, misalignments etc. are avoided. The cigarettes in the chutes are affected by the loosening.

Further features of the invention that promote proper cigarette flow within the chutes of the cigarette magazine are described in the subclaims.

An exemplary embodiment of a device designed according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the attached drawing. Show it:
  • 1 is a front view of a magazine for cigarettes,
  • 2 shows the magazine according to FIG. 1 in a vertical section through a shaft, on an enlarged scale,

A cigarette magazine 10 in the present embodiment is assigned to a packaging machine for cigarettes, not shown in detail. The cigarettes are - from a manufacturing machine (not shown) - filled into a funnel-shaped container 11 of the cigarette magazine 10 from above. In this container, a number of shafts 12 are formed, namely upright, elongated channels, in which individual cigarettes 13 are received one above the other in a row. The cigarettes are normally in a sealed position in such a shaft 12. These are partitioned off from one another by shaft walls 14. In the present exemplary embodiment, the shaft walls have a cross section which converges in the downward direction and accordingly taper to a point. Furthermore, the shaft walls 14 are curved in the lower region, so that the shafts 12 delimited by these also have an arched shape in the lower region.

In the present cigarette magazine, two groups 15 and 16 of shafts 12 are formed. Each is used to form a group of cigarettes according to the number of cigarettes to be contained in a pack of cigarettes.

The lower cigarettes 13 in each shaft 12 are supported on an inclined support in the form of a support plate 17 or 18 in the present case. These are arranged transversely (perpendicularly) to the (obliquely directed) shaft walls 14 and thereby in turn directed obliquely at an angle to one another .

The cigarettes 13 come essentially under their own weight into one of the shafts 12 and form a continuous row of cigarettes 13 arranged one above the other in the latter. At the lower end of the shafts 12, groups 15 and 16 of the shafts 12 each have a number of the lower ones Support plates 17 and 18 transported cigarettes 13, namely a cigarette group corresponding to the content of a cigarette pack. In the present exemplary embodiment it is provided that a cigarette group is ejected from the respective three lower cigarettes 13 of a shaft 12 and be promoted.

For the ejection of a corresponding number of cigarettes 13 per shaft 12, a slide 19 is provided with a number of finger-like or web-like tappets 20 corresponding to the number of shafts 12 to be emptied. Each of these tappets 20, which are rectangular in cross section and designed as a flat profile, enters from the rear side (on the right in FIG. 2) into a shaft 12 and pushes out a number of cigarettes 13 arranged one above the other on the opposite side, corresponding to its construction height. An upright rear wall 21 delimiting the magazine on the back is provided with a corresponding entry recess 22 in the area of the reciprocating movements of the slide 19 or the plunger 20. An outlet opening 23 in the area of an opposite front wall 24 leads into a horizontal cigarette shaft 25 adjoining the support plate 17 or 18 and the front wall 24, in that the group of cigarettes now formed is fed to a further conveyor.

The slide 19 and its plunger 20 are after a group of cigarettes. the shafts 12 moved back into a starting position in which the plunger 20 are completely withdrawn from the shafts 12 (Fig. 4). The further cigarettes stored above the ejected cigarettes can now fall downwards in the shafts 12 due to their own weight. It must be overcome - with the cigarette in the meantime inclined during the return movement of the plunger 20 - a drop height which corresponds to that of the ejected (three) cigarettes or the construction height of the plunger 20. In order to avoid undesired oblique positions and the resulting clamping positions of the cigarettes 13 during this downward movement, a movable support element in the form of a support rod 26 is arranged adjacent to the outlet opening 23, that is to say on the side opposite the ends of the plunger 20 withdrawn from the shafts 12. In the present exemplary embodiment, this can be moved up and down, namely from a lower, retracted position according to FIG. 2 into the upper supporting position according to FIGS. 3 and 4. In the latter, the carrying rod 26 is approximately half the height of the way the cigarettes fall.

The support rod 26 is moved during the backward movement of the plunger 20 into the aforementioned support position according to FIGS. 3 and 4. The ends of the cigarettes 13 lying away from the returning tappet can thereby rest on the support rod 26 after the cigarettes have carried out a pivoting movement approximately half the height of the entire fall path (FIG. 3). The opposite end regions of the cigarettes 13 are still supported on the plunger 20 which is in the return movement during this phase. As soon as the latter leaves the shaft 12, the ends of the cigarettes 13 facing this side (rear wall 21) are moved under their own weight until they rest on the support plate 17 or 18 while carrying out a pivoting movement as a result of supporting the opposite ends on the support rod 26 (FIG. 4). When the cigarettes have reached this position, the support rod 26 is lowered into the lower starting position according to FIG. 2. The areas of the cigarettes lying on the support rod are likewise moved downwards until they rest completely on the support plates 17, 18. The cigarettes have now reached a proper lower end position and can be ejected in groups in the meadow described.

The support plates 17, 18 are provided on the side facing the outlet opening 23 with a continuous, elongated opening 27 into which the support rod 26 is lowered in the lower position. To carry out the movements of the support rod 26, the shaft walls 14 are provided in this area with a recess 29 facing the outlet opening 23.

In the present exemplary embodiment, each group 15, 16 of shafts 12 is assigned a separate support rod 26. The two support rods are driven via a parallelogram linkage with the parallel core 28 and 29 and a support bracket 30 which can be moved up and down in the manner described. A push rod 31 is connected to the parallelogram linkage (parallel link 29) and is driven to and fro by a central drive shaft 32. The drive shaft 32 in turn is moved by a crank mechanism 33.

A further device for ensuring the proper downward movement of the cigarettes 13 in the shafts 12 consists of sensor tabs 34 assigned to each shaft 12. These are thin-walled flat material parts, protruding into the shafts 12 via slots 35 in the front wall 24. The tactile flags 34 are pivotally mounted outside of the shafts on a common, transverse support rod 36. The tactile flags 34 are designed or arranged eccentrically with respect to the holding rod 36 that, in the absence of cigarettes in one of the wells 12, the relevant tactile flag is pivoted under its own weight such that a nose 37 of the tactile flag 34 enters the relevant well 12 (dash-dotted line in Fig. 2). This results in a change in the relative position of the relevant touch flag 34 with respect to a transverse light barrier 38. This is interrupted. An error signal is triggered.

So that the touch flag 34 or the nose 37 does not enter the shaft 12 too far (deep), the is Movement amplitude of the feeler flag 34 is limited, namely by a transverse stop rod 39 common to all feeler flags. This passes through a (circular) hole 40 in the feeler flags. The edge of the hole 40 is in contact with the stop rod 39 as soon as the touch flag enters the relevant shaft 12 due to the lack of cigarettes. As soon as the error has been eliminated and the shaft in question has been provided with an uninterrupted sequence of cigarettes, the touch flag is automatically pivoted back into the starting position (solid line in FIG. 2) as a result of the cigarettes being conveyed. In this trouble-free position, the nose 37 bears against the facing ends of the cigarettes in the shaft.

Another device for the proper transportation of the cigarettes in the chutes 12 relates to the entry of the cigarettes into them. As can be seen from Fig. 1, the shaft walls 14 are wedge-shaped, widening towards the top. On the upper ends of the shaft walls 14 formed in this way, rotatably driven distributor members in the form of elongated, approximately cylindrical vibrating rods 41 are attached. These are guided at one end with an extension 42 through the front wall 24 of the magazine and rotatably mounted outside of the same. On the extensions 42 each pinion 43 are formed, which mesh with a common rack 44 for all vibrating bars 41. By moving the rack 44 back and forth, the vibrating bars 41 are set in rotation with an alternating direction. The transmission described above is housed in an elongated transmission housing 45 on the outside of the front wall 24.

The vibrating bars 41 within the magazine, namely at the entry end of the shafts 12, are designed in a special way. On the outer circumference there are elevations and depressions running in the longitudinal direction in the form of grooves 46. These are formed in the present vibrating bars 41 only in a central region. At the ends of the vibrating bars - in the present embodiment at both ends - cross-sectional tapering 47 and 48 are formed. These conically tapering ends of the vibrating bars 46 ensure that the end areas of the cigarettes 13 are not mechanically stressed by the vibrating bars and consequently no fine tobacco parts are pressed out of the cigarettes. The design of the vibrating rods 41 in the above sense therefore has the consequence that tobacco leakage at the ends of the cigarettes is avoided as a result of the vibrating movements. If cigarettes are processed with a filter, it is sufficient if a cross-sectional taper is formed only at one end - at the end remote from the cigarette filter.

The individual devices for ensuring a trouble-free flow of cigarettes within the chutes 12, that is to say the support rod 26, the feeler tabs 34 and the vibrating bars 41, can also be used independently of one another.
