  • An ingot of Ag-based alloy containing 52 wt% of Cd was produced by alloying at 800°C Ag and Cd charged in a quartz tube sealed in vacuum state to prevent evaporation of Cd and then subjecting the alloy to homogenizing treatment at 650°C. Powders of this ingot were obtained by filing and were charged in transparent quartz tubes sealed in vacuum state to prevent oxidation of powders. The tubes were then heated at respective temperatures of 650, 350 and 200°C for 5 minutes, followed by water-quenching. Consequently, these powders in respective tubes exhibited colors of gray, pink and purple at the room temperature. From this fact, it was judged that the (3-phase, ⁇ -phase and ⁇ '-phase have respectively colors of gray, pink and purple at the room temperature.
  • An alloy film of Ag-based alloy containing 52 wt% of Cd was formed by sputtering vacuum evaporation to have a thickness of 50 nm on a glass substrate heated beforehand to 200°C, and a protective film of Si0 2 of 200 nm thick was coated on the alloy film.

As a result, the portion in which the pink line had been scribed changed its color to purple, i.e. to the same color as the background, thus enabling the erasion of the recorded information. It was confirmed that this recording and erasing cycle can be conducted repeatedly as desired.
  • the thin film specimen exhibiting purple color at the room temperature was heated at 350°C for 1 minute to exhibit pink color over its entire surface, and the pink surface of the specimen was scanned with a laser beam of a power of about 20 mW and having a spot diameter of about 2 pm.

  • An alloy film of Ag-based alloy containing 55 wt% of Cd and 0.25 wt% of AI was formed by sputtering vacuum evaporation to have a thickness of 50 nm on a glass substrate heated beforehand to 200°C, and a protective film of Si0 2 of 100 nm thick was coated on the alloy film.
  • the alloy film exhibited a color of purple at the room temperature, but the color was changed to pink when cooled to the room temperature after 1-minute heating at 350°C.

A similar experiment was conducted by using an Ar laser beam in place of the semiconductor laser beam and the same result was confirmed.

These two modes of heating-quenching were repeated and a constant reversible change was confirmed, namely, the difference between two modes was maintained.

  • the specimen exhibiting gold color at the room temperature over its entire surface was scanned by a semiconductor laser of 20 mW power.
  • the portion scanned by the laser beam changed its color at the room temperature into silver-white which is distinguishable from the color of the background, thus proving the possibility of recording by the laser beam.

Claims (24)

1. Aufzeichnungsmaterial aus einer Legierung, die im festen Zustand bei einer über Zimmertemperatur gelegenen ersten Temperatur eine erste Kristallstruktur und bei einer unter der ersten Temperatur aber nicht unter Zimmertemperatur gelegenen zweiten Temperatur eine zweite Kristallstruktur aufweist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Legierung eine derartige Zusammensetzung hat, daß ein Teil der Oberfläche der Legierung als Ergebnis einer Abschreckung dieses Teils von der ersten auf die zweite Temperatur eine Kristallstruktur bildet, die von der zweiten Kristallstruktur bei der zweiten Temperatur verschieden ist.
2. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Legierung mindestens ein Element aus der Gruppe Ib und mindestens ein Element aus den Gruppen IIb, Illb, IVb und Vb des Periodensystems enthält.
3. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Legierung eine intermetallische Verbindung des oder der Elemente aus der Gruppe Ib und des bzw. der Elemente aus den Gruppen IIb, Illb, IVb und Vb enthält.
4. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, wobei die erste Temperatur über der Temperatur liegt, bei der die Legierung in die feste Phase übergeht.
5. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, wobei der Unterschied zwischen dem spektralen Reflexionsvemögen der Legierung in der Kristallstruktur nach dem Abschrecken und dem der Legierung in der sich ohne Abschreckung bei der zweiten Temperatur bildenden zweiten Kristallstruktur nicht weniger als 5% beträgt.
6. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, wobei der besagte Unterschied im spektralen Reflexionsvermögen der Legierung im Wellenlängenbereich zwischen 400 und 1000 nm nicht weniger als 10% beträgt.
7. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, wobei die Legierung eine Kristallkorngröße von nicht mehr als 0,1 11m aufweist.
8. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, wobei die Legierung ein geringvolumiges (non-bulk) Material ist.
9. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach Anspruche 8, wobei die Legierung in Form einer Dünnschicht, einer Folie, eines Bandes, eines Pulvers oder eines dünnen Drahtes vorliegt.
10. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach Anspruch 9, wobei das Material ein durch Abschrecken einer Schmelze oder eines Gases der Legierung gebildetes geringvolumiges Material ist.
11. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach Anspruch 10, wobei das Material eine Folie oder ein dünner Draht ist, die bzw. der durch Aufgießen der Schmelze auf die Mantelfläche einer mit hoher Drehzahl rotierenden Walze aus einem Material hoher Wärmeleitfähigkeit gebildet ist.
12. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach Anspruch 10, wobei das Material ein durch Vakuumverdampfung oder Sputtern aufgetragener Dünnfilm der Legierung ist.
13. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach Anspruch 10, wobei das Material aus einem durch Atomisieren, Abschrecken und Verfestigen der Schmelze mittels eines flüssigen oder gasförmigen Kühlmittels gebildeten Pulver der Legierung besteht.
14. Legierung mit änderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen, die im festen Zustand bei einer über Zimmertemperatur gelegenen ersten Temperatur eine erste Kristallstruktur und bei einer unter der ersten Temperatur aber nicht unter Zimmertemperatur gelegenen zweiten Temperatur eine zweite Kristallstruktur aufweist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein Teil der Oberfläche der Legierung als Ergebnis einer Superkühlung dieses Teils von der ersten auf die zweite Temperatur eine Kristallstruktur besitzt, die von der zweiten Kristallstruktur bei der zweiten Temperatur verschieden ist, während ein weiterer Teil der Oberfläche die zweite Kristallstruktur bei der zweiten Temperatur besitzt und dadurch ein spektrales Reflexionsvermögen aufweist, das von dem der supergekühlten Kristallstruktur verschieden ist.
15. Legierung mit änderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen nach Anspruch 14, wobei die Legierung mindestens ein Element aus der Gruppe Ib und mindestens ein Element aus den Gruppen llb, Illb, IVb und Vb des Periodensystems enthält.
16. Legierung mit änderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen nach Anspruch 15, wobei die Legierung eine intermetallische Verbindung des oder der Elemente aus der Gruppe Ib und des bzw. der Elemente aus den Gruppen llb, Illb, IVb und Vb enthält.
17. Legierung mit änderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen nach einem der Ansprüche 14 bis 16, wobei die erste Temperatur über der Eutektoid-Umwandlungstemperatur liegt.
18. Legierung mit änderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen nach einem der Ansprüche 14 bis 17, wobei der Unterschied zwischen dem spektralen Reflexionsvemögen der Legierung in der supergekühlten Kristallstruktur und dem der Legierung in der zweiten Kristallstruktur bei der zweiten Temperatur nicht weniger als 5% beträgt.
19. Legierung mit änderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen nach einem der Ansprüche 14 bis 18, wobei der besagte Unterschied im spektralen Reflexionsvermögen im Wellenlängenbereich zwischen 400 und 800 nm nicht weniger als 10% beträgt.
20. Legierung mit anderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen nach einem der Ansprüche 14 bis 19, wobei die Legierung eine Kristallkorngröße von nicht mehr als 0,1 um aufweist.
21. Legierung mit änderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen nach einem der Ansprüche 14 bis 20, wobei die Legierung ein geringvolumiges (non-bulk) Material ist.
22. Legierung mit änderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen nach Anspruch 21, wobei die Legierung in Form einer Dünnschicht, einer Folie, eines Bandes, eines Pulvers oder eines dünnen Drahtes vorliegt.
23. Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Legierung mit änderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen, umfassend das Vorbereiten einer Legierung, die im festen Zustand bei einer über Zimmertemperatur gelegenen ersten Temperatur eine erste Kristallstruktur und bei einer unter der ersten Temperatur aber nicht unter Zimmertemperatur gelegenen zweiten Temperatur eine zweite Kristallstruktur besitzt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß in einem Teil der Oberfläche der Legierung durch Superkühlen dieses Teils von der ersten Temperatur ein Bereich mit einer Kristallstruktur gebildet wird, die von der zweiten Kristallstruktur bei der zweiten Temperatur verschieden ist, wodurch der durch Superkühlung gebildete Bereich ein spektrales Reflexionsvermögen aufweist, das von dem des Bereichs mit der zweiten Kristallstruktur bei der zweiten Temperatur verschieden ist.
24. Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Legierung mit änderbarem spektralen Reflexionsvermögen, umfassend das Vorbereiten einer Legierung, die im festen Zustand bei einer über Zimmertemperatur gelegenen ersten Temperatur eine erste Kristallstruktur und bei einer unter der ersten Temperatur aber nicht unter Zimmertemperatur gelegenen zweiten Temperatur eine zweite Kristallstruktur besitzt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß über die gesamte Oberfläche der Legierung durch Superkühlen dieser gesamten Oberflächevon der ersten Temperatur eine Kristallstruktur ausgebildet wird, die von der zweiten Kristallstruktur bei der zweiten Temperatur verschieden ist, und anschließend ein Teil der Oberfläche der Legierung derart erwärmt und abgekühlt wird, daß sich in dem Teil die zweite Kristallstruktur bei der zweiten Temperatur bildet, wodurch der durch Superkühlung gebildete Bereich ein spektrales Reflexionsvermögen aufweist, das von dem des Bereichs mit der zweiten Kristallstruktur bei der zweiten Temperatur verschieden ist.
