Definitions
- the invention is based on a fuel injection nozzle according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the damping effect can be limited in a pressure-dependent manner by appropriate adjustment of the support spring to the damping coefficient. In some cases this is desirable in the high speed range of the internal combustion engine if the return spring can return the cap or the part acted upon by it to the starting position by the beginning of the next injection process.
- the cap and the support spring are caught in a cage which is guided displaceably between two stops fixed to the housing and is pressed as a whole by the return spring against one of these stops.
- This version makes assembly easier, but requires the cage as an additional part (EP-A-0084662 according to Art. 54 (3) of the EPC).
- the arrangement according to the invention with the characterizing features of claim 1 is simpler than the known arrangement because a cage for the support spring and the cap is omitted.
- FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the exemplary embodiment
- FIG. 2 shows a variant of the embodiment according to FIG. 1.
- the injection nozzle has a nozzle body 10 which is clamped to a nozzle holder 14 by a union nut 12.
- a sleeve 16 Arranged between the nozzle body 10 and the nozzle holder 14 is a sleeve 16 which has an inwardly directed collar 18 which divides a chamber 20 from a chamber 22 inside the injection nozzle.
- a valve seat 24 is formed in the nozzle body 10 and a valve needle 26 is slidably mounted, the sealing cone 27 of which is pressed against the valve seat 24 by a closing spring 28.
- the closing spring 28 is supported on the nozzle body 10 and engages via a flange part 30 on a support disk 32, which in turn is supported on a shoulder 34 of the valve needle 26.
- the nozzle holder 14 contains an inlet bore 36 which opens into the chamber 20, which is connected to the chamber 22 via an opening 38 surrounded by the collar 18. From this, a bore 40 in the nozzle body 10 leads into an annular space 42, which is formed between the central bore wall of the nozzle body 10 and the circumference of a section 44 of the valve needle 26 with a reduced diameter and extends directly up to the valve seat 24. There is a distance hg between the flange part 30 and the nozzle body 10 in the illustrated closed position, which corresponds to the total stroke of the valve needle 26.
- the valve needle 26 is displaced outward in the opening direction by the fuel pressure against the closing spring 28 until the flange part 30 strikes the nozzle body 10. When the valve closes, the closing spring 28 returns the valve needle 26 inward to the closed position shown.
- a piston-shaped extension 46 adjoins the shoulder 34 of the valve needle 26, which extends through the opening 38 and projects into the chamber 20.
- the diameter of the piston-shaped projection 46 corresponds to the guide diameter of the valve needle 26.
- a cap 48 with a predetermined radial clearance is placed on the projection 46, which has a through bore 50 and a flange edge 52.
- a support spring 54 engages this, which is supported on the collar 18 and presses the cap 48 against shoulders 56 on the nozzle holder 14.
- the end section 58 of the cap 48 facing away from the flange edge 52 has an outer diameter which is smaller than the inner diameter of the collar 18.
- a closing body 60 which is provided with an annular collar 62, also plunges into the bore 50 of the cap 48 with a predetermined radial clearance.
- a return spring 64 engages this, which is supported on an annular shoulder 66 of the nozzle holder 14.
- a fuel-filled damping space 68 is formed, which is throttled via the radial clearance surrounding the extension 46 in the bore 50 and is connected to the main flow path of the fuel. This leads from the inlet bore 36 through the chamber 20 and the opening 38 in the chamber 22, from where the fuel reaches the valve seat 24 via the bore 40 in the nozzle body 10 and the annular space 42.
- the pressure difference between the chamber 20 and the damping chamber 68 increases to such an extent that the pretensioning force of the support spring 54 is overcome. This is followed by the compression of the support spring 54, the cap 48 of the valve needle 26, whereby the damping effect is no longer amplified.
- the damping effect can be limited to a desired level depending on the pressure will.
- the shoulder 46 presses the closing body 60 upward by further compressing the return spring 64 via the fuel cushion enclosed in the damping space 68.
- the return spring 64 is dimensioned such that on the one hand the valve needle 26 can carry out its remaining closing stroke without any significant impediment and that on the other hand the fuel quantity flowing into the damping chamber 68 is pushed out of the damping chamber 68 until the start of the next opening stroke of the valve needle 26 except for the remaining volume shown .
- a piston-shaped shoulder 46 'de ⁇ VentilnadeI has a frustoconical front shoulder 70, on which the closing body 60 is seated in the closed position of the valve needle. In this position, the collar 62 of the closing body 60 is at a distance h "from the upper end face of the cap 48, which corresponds to an undamped forward stroke.
- the closing body 60 follows the valve needle or extension 46 ', the' movement of the valve needle taking place without damping. It is thereby achieved that at the beginning of each injection process, a pre-jet is injected with a sufficiently large amount of fuel. After the closing body 60 has been placed on the cap 48, the further movement of the valve needle is damped in the manner described.

Description
The invention is based on a fuel injection nozzle according to the preamble of claim 1. With these injection nozzles, the damping effect can be limited in a pressure-dependent manner by appropriate adjustment of the support spring to the damping coefficient. In some cases this is desirable in the high speed range of the internal combustion engine if the return spring can return the cap or the part acted upon by it to the starting position by the beginning of the next injection process. In the known injection nozzles of the type mentioned at the outset, the cap and the support spring are caught in a cage which is guided displaceably between two stops fixed to the housing and is pressed as a whole by the return spring against one of these stops. This version makes assembly easier, but requires the cage as an additional part (EP-A-0084662 according to Art. 54 (3) of the EPC). The arrangement according to the invention with the characterizing features of claim 1 is simpler than the known arrangement because a cage for the support spring and the cap is omitted.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and explained in more detail in the following description. FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the exemplary embodiment and FIG. 2 shows a variant of the embodiment according to FIG. 1.
The injection nozzle has a
The
A piston-
- At the beginning of an injection process, the parts assume the position shown, in which the
cap 48 is pressed against theshoulders 56 of thenozzle holder 14 and theannular collar 62 of theclosing body 60 rests on the upper end face of thecap 48. In this position, thedamping space 68 has its smallest volume. With increasing fuel pressure, a pressure difference arises between thedamping chamber 68 and thechamber 20 because thecap 48 cannot initially follow the movement of thevalve needle 26 due to the action of thesupport spring 54 and the fuel via the radial play around theshoulder 46 and possibly theclosing body 60 arrives in thedamping chamber 68 only with a delay. Thesupport spring 54 is designed in such a way that in idle and in the middle speed range of the internal combustion engine the pressure difference cannot overcome the pretension of thesupport spring 64, so that the damping is effective over the entire needle stroke.
In the upper speed range, the pressure difference between the
In the variant according to FIG. 2, a piston-shaped shoulder 46 'deτ VentilnadeI has a frustoconical
During this advance stroke h v , the
