Description

The present invention relates to a helmet, in particular for users of motorized vehicles. This helmet is more particularly intended for the drivers of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as well as for the passengers of the latter, but it can also be used advantageously in any activity involving the risk of head injuries, such as, for example, aviation. , ice sports, winter sports, professional activities, etc. The invention relates more precisely to a helmet of the "integral" type, that is to say to a helmet shaped to wrap the entire head of the user.

We know (DE-A-3 025 770) a removable integral helmet executed in two independent parts capable of being assembled or separated. When the helmet is removed, it is probably possible to accommodate one of its two parts in the second, by obtaining a reduction in its volume. However, in this situation, the two parts of the helmet are completely separated, so that they can be dispersed. On the other hand, the assembly of the two independent parts of the helmet is difficult and requires great dexterity, due to the fact that they must be kept in the junction position while their assembly means are being installed. In fact, such a full face helmet is removable, but not foldable.

The present invention aims in particular to remedy these shortcomings.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by means of an integral helmet comprising, on the one hand, a protective shell or rigid structure comprising a shell or upper part capable of covering the top of the user's head and a shell or lower part intended to protect the jaw, the neck and the nape of the latter, and, on the other hand, locking means making it possible to rigidly couple these complementary upper and lower shells in a deployed position of use according to which they are in contiguous contact by their rear edges, said upper and lower shells being dimensioned so that one can be housed in the other and their front parts being shaped so as to provide a large opening between their respective edges, said helmet integral being particularly remarkable in that said upper and lower shells are assembled by means of two opposite and coaxial joints s and are thus linked with a pivoting ability with respect to one another, so that the helmet can be either folded up in a reduced volume, by simple reciprocal pivoting of said shells, so that one can retract inside the other, or deployed in the position of use, also by simply pivoting said shells, in order to reconstitute the integral shape of said helmet.

The full-face helmet according to the invention has the advantage of being able to be effectively folded back, outside the periods of use, so as to occupy a reduced volume equivalent to approximately half the volume which it presents when it is deployed in position d 'use, which greatly facilitates its transport and storage. In addition, the various components of the integral helmet according to the invention always remain attached to one another, whatever the state of said helmet (deployed or folded), so that they cannot be dispersed.

On the other hand, this full-face helmet can be very quickly and very easily folded and, above all, replaced in the deployed position of use, due to the fact that the permanent connection of its two shells by means of joints, allows them to be replaced automatically in the coupling position, by simple pivoting, while it is possible to provide a locking means automatically coming into action when the assembly edges of said shells come into contact with each other, at the end of tilting stroke.

The aims, characteristics and advantages above and others still will emerge more clearly from the description which follows and from the appended drawings in which:
  • Figure 1 is a general perspective view of a folding full helmet according to the invention, shown in the deployed position corresponding to the functional position of said helmet.
  • Figure 2 is a view similar to Figure 1 and showing the helmet in an intermediate phase of the folding or deployment maneuver (depending on the direction of movement considered).
  • Figure 3 is a perspective view supplementing the previous two and showing the helmet in the fully folded position.
  • FIGS. 4 to 6 are side views, of schematic nature, corresponding, respectively, to FIGS. 1 to 3.

  • Figures 9 to 11 are detail views, in cross section, showing modes of joining the contiguous edges of the upper and lower parts of the helmet, in the developed position of use.
  • Figure 12 is a detail view, in cross section, illustrating another method of locking the upper and lower parts of the helmet, in the developed position of use.

Reference is made to said drawings to describe an advantageous example, although in no way limiting, of the execution of a folding helmet according to the invention.

Such a helmet comprises a protective shell or rigid structure which, according to the invention, consists of a shell or upper part 1 and a shell or lower part 2. These two shells or complementary parts are dimensioned so that one can fit inside the other.

On précise, toutefois, qu'il est aussi possible d'adopter une disposition inverse suivant laquelle la coquille ou partie inférieure 2 présente un volume extérieur inférieur au volume de l'espace disponible à l'intérieur de la partie supérieure 1 du casque, de manière à pouvoir se loger, par basculement, à l'intérieur de celle-ci.Preferably, the shell or upper part 1 has an external volume less than the volume of the space available inside the lower part 2 of the helmet so as to be able to be housed, by pivoting, inside this last, as explained later in this talk. This arrangement is advantageous, due to the fact that it is considered, in a conventional and practical manner that, during the folding or development maneuvers, it is the lower part 2 which remains stationary and constitutes the stable element of the together, while the upper shell 1 is the movable and rotary element of said assembly. It is specified, however, that it is also possible to adopt a reverse arrangement according to which the shell or lower part 2 has an external volume less than the volume of the space available inside the upper part 1 of the helmet, so that it can be housed, by tilting, inside it.

The shells or upper 1 and lower 2 parts are assembled by means of two opposite and coaxial joints 4 and 5, which are advantageously arranged laterally. In this way, the upper part 1 (or, optionally, the lower part 2) can pivot (Figures 2 and 5), either to retract completely into the housing reserved inside the lower part 2 (or, possibly , in the upper part 1), as shown in Figures 3 and 6, either to allow its coupling to said lower part along an equatorial or substantially equatorial line 3 of the helmet, or, in other words, along the median or substantially median plane of the latter, in order to reconstruct the integral shape of said helmet (Figures 1 and 4).

The helmet according to the invention also comprises locking means making it possible to rigidly couple its upper 1 and lower 2 parts in the developed position of use of said helmet, reconstituting the integral shape of the latter.

These locking means can be varied and two examples of such suitable means are illustrated in FIGS. 7, 8 and 12. According to the example in FIG. 7, the locking means comprise at least one sliding clamp 6 whose curved ends or hooks opposite may slide in grooves 7 and 8 formed, externally in the upper shells 1 and lower 2, respectively, near the contiguous edges thereof and, preferably, in the rear half-part of said shells, said grooves being placed in parallel when said shells are coupled, in the developed position of use. According to this embodiment, the unlocking allowing the pivoting is possible thanks to a reduction in height or vertical passage formed in the bead delimiting any of the grooves 7 or 8, said passage allowing the release of the curved end of the crampon sliding 6 engaged in said groove and, consequently, the uncoupling of the upper 1 and lower 2 shells.

The device illustrated in FIG. 8 differs from the previous one, mainly by the fact that the beads 9 and 10 delimiting the locking grooves in which the curved ends of the sliding blocking crampon 11 are engaged, are arranged internally.

Figure 12 shows another slightly more complex locking means. According to this embodiment, the edge of one of the shells (upper shell 1) is integral with an elastic blocking finger 21 intended to engage in a small keeper 22 formed in the edge of the second shell (shell lower 2), said finger comprising a beak coming automatically to hook onto a shoulder which has the outer wall of said keeper, when the edges of said shells are placed in contiguous mating position. A pusher 12 carried by the shell provided with the keeper 22 and automatically recalled by a spring 13, makes it possible to push back the locking finger 21 and to unlock the shells. This elastic coupling device facilitates locking and unlocking operations. The coupling edges 14 and 15 of the upper 1 and lower 2 parts, respectively, of the folding helmet according to the invention, are provided in the rear portion of said complementary parts. As shown in Figures 7 to 12, the junction of these coupling edges 14 and 15 is not ensured by means of smooth surfaces, but by means of complementary reliefs and hollows. This arrangement makes it possible to reinforce the rigidity of the folding helmet.

Suivant le mode de réalisation représenté à la figure 9, l'accouplement des parties supérieure 1 et inférieure 2 est réalisé au moyen d'un assemblage à emboîtement 18.According to the embodiment illustrated in Figures 7 and 8, the coupling is of the male-female type, the assembly edge of one of the shells (shell 1) being provided with a mortise 16, while the edge of assembly of the second shell (shell 2) is provided with a lug 17. According to the embodiment shown in FIG. 9, the coupling of the upper 1 and lower 2 parts is carried out by means of a snap-on assembly 18.

Les figures 10 et 11 montrent que le tenon 17 de l'assemblage mâle-femelle peut être prévu soit sur la partie supérieure 1, soit sur la partie inférieure 2.FIGS. 10 and 11 show that the post 17 of the male-female assembly can be provided either on the upper part 1 or on the lower part 2.

A good balance is obtained by providing separate spans along the opposite edges 14 and 15, so that in one of them the assembly conforms to the embodiment illustrated in Figure 10 and, in the other , corresponds to the embodiment shown in FIG. 11, or else by placing the pin 17 alternately on the upper part 1 and on the lower part 2.

It is obvious that the folding helmet according to the invention can have any external shape allowing the pivoting of one of its complementary parts and its retraction in the other.

On the other hand, this helmet can be equipped with its Complements and usual equipment such as visor 19 and interior upholstery 20. It is understood that said upholstery 20 must have the appropriate shape to allow the pivoting of the upper part 1 (or, as the case may be, of the lower part 2), in view of the folding or developing the helmet.

According to the illustrated embodiment, the visor 19 is fixed to the upper part 1, by means of lateral articulations 23, opposite and coaxial, and these articulations are arranged at a distance from the articulations 4 and 5 from the upper 1 and lower 2 shells. In addition, the joints 23 of the pivoting visor 19 are arranged above and behind the joints 4 and 5, when the upper 1 and lower 2 parts are coupled in the developed position. In this way, when the upper part 1 is retracted inside the lower part 2, by pivoting forwards, the visor 19 comes to surround the anterior portion of the latter, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 6, its joints 23 being placed, in this position, in front of the joints 4, 5 of said upper and lower parts.

It is observed that, in the folding position (FIGS. 3 and 6), the coupling edge 14 of the upper part 1, the dimension of which is equal to that of the coupling edge 15 of the lower part 2, is placed at the level of the cutout, for visibility, in the front portion of said lower part, so that the pivoting of said upper part is in no way hampered by this equality of dimensions.
