Description

The present invention relates to a snow sports article variously named snowboard, mono-ski, or ski-surf.

Un mono-ski de ce genre est par exemple décrit dans les brevets CH-A-548215, US-A-3947049 ou la demande WO-A-8002232.This sports article, hereinafter called mono-ski, is in fact made up of a single ski, approximately twice the width of a normal ski, provided in the middle of its length with two front and rear stops for the attachment of the ski to the skier's shoe. A mono-ski of this kind is for example described in the patents CH-A-548215, US-A-3947049 or the application WO-A-8002232.

The purpose of the present invention is to give this mono-ski
  • - better driving in a straight line
  • - reduce the tendency to oversteer
  • - improve its aerodynamics in the case of deep snow.

These aims are achieved with the mono-ski according to the invention defined in the main claim.

The invention is described in more detail with reference to the appended drawing in which:
  • - Fig. 1 shows the mono-ski seen in profile attached to the skier's shoe.
  • - Fig. 2 represents the mono-ski seen from above, but without the shoes.

The mono-ski has the shape of a board curved upwards at the front end 2. In its current form, the mono-ski presents difficulties of driving in a straight line. To remedy this, the board is provided with an elongated opening 6 located at the front of the ski. This opening 6 extends over approximately% of the length of the ski and is situated approximately halfway between the front end 2 and the front fixing stops 7, its maximum width being approximately% of the width of the board. .

In its current form, the mono-ski also has a very pronounced tendency to oversteer in the case of crossing. To remedy this, the board is provided with an elongated opening 5 which extends from the rear end in the front direction of the board over a length of approximately% of its length. The maximum width of the opening is approximately ¼ that of the board.

The two openings are connected by a groove 9 located in the sole and on the axis of symmetry of the board.

In the case of deep snow, given the width of the board, the snow tends to settle against the front of the bindings, and between the shoes, especially between the uppers of the latter. This heap becomes an embarrassment for the skier. The opening 6 already overcomes this drawback by causing a kind of blowing which reduces this heap.

However, to completely avoid it, it has proven effective to provide the mono-ski with a plate 3 (made of metal or plastic) in the shape of a triangle which covers part of the board in front of the front stops, the stops themselves -same and the front of the shoes. This plate is extended by another plate 4 which partly marries the two legs of the skier and is fixed by a joint 10 either to the first plate, or to the board itself. The plate 3 can be fixed to the board for example by means of the same screws as those of the front stops. It is also possible to consider integrating the plate 3 of a block with the board and the fixings. This procedure would strengthen the central part of the board at the location of the bindings to avoid tearing due to the particularly high forces at this location of the board in the case of mono-ski.
