Für die Umsteuerung des Relais genügt ein Stromimpuls durch die Steuerspule, welcher einen Steuerfluss bewirken muss, der nur wenig grösser ist als der Permanent­ magnetfluss, weil sich die beiden Flüsse nach eingeleiteter Um­ teuerung in ihren Wirkungen unterstützen. Dank dieser Unter­ stützung ist die benötigte Steuerleistung so gering, dass eine direkte Ansteuerung durch TTL-Schaltungen möglich ist. Durch andere Anordnung des Permanentmagneten im Ma­ gnetkreis sind auch monstabile Relais realisierbar.
