- the connection of the primary and secondary windings is generally carried out by tin soldering on the electrical connection element which then has a hole provided for this purpose.
- the significant vibrations to which the ignition coils are subjected when they are mounted on motor vehicles often cause breaks in the conductive wires constituting the windings, these ruptures taking place in the zone of maximum stress for the conductive wires, it is to say in the immediate vicinity of the weld.
- the object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to this end relates to an ignition coil characterized in that the electrical connection element comprises an opening in the form of a slot opening into a circular hole in which, by means of the slot, the metallic braid of the secondary winding is introduced, which metallic braid is maintained in electrical contact with the electrical connection element by a cylindrical-conical pin penetrating by force into said hole.

- This self-stripping slot 8b introduced by pressure, using an appropriate tool, into the housings 3a provided, for this purpose, in the insulating support 3, pushes the end 2a of the conductive wire constituting the primary winding 2 , to the bottom of a slit 3b, after which, under the effect of the pressure exerted, the double slit 8b penetrates the insulating enamel layer of the conductive wire, thus ensuring the electrical contact between the end 2a of the primary winding 2 and the electrical connection element 8.

- a high voltage output terminal 9 provides the connection, via a cable, between an ignition distributor (not shown) and one of the ends of the secondary winding 4.
- the electrical connection element 8 has an opening in the form of a slot 8c, opening into a circular hole 8d, into which by means of the slot 8c, the metal braid 7 is connected, connected to the other end of the secondary winding 4. This metal braid 7 is maintained in electrical contact with the connecting element 8 by a cylindrical-cone dowel 10 forcing into the hole 8d.
- the cylindrical-cone dowel 10 comes integrally with an insulating element 11 (see FIG. 1) such, for example, that the female part of a connector which comprises the electrical connection element 8 ensures the supply of the ignition coil from the vehicle battery.
- the box 6 containing these windings is arranged, in a known manner, around the central branch of the sheets cut into an E shape, after which the box 6 is filled with an insulating casting material 12.
