Description

The invention relates to a device for merging in a cutting process in the form of a row of adjacent blanks to a pile or stack, in particular for merging playing card blanks produced by cutting a strip of material into a complete game, in which the blanks after the cutting process in a a plurality of receptacles arranged next to one another can be inserted, which can be emptied by means of a latching device which can be activated in cycles, which passes through the receptacles arranged next to one another and deposits the blanks which have been combined into a pile or stack on a delivery device arranged next to the magazine.

In a prior art arrangement of this type, only a stationary magazine is provided, which can be emptied by the assigned gathering device after its receiving devices have been filled with a predetermined number of blanks. The disadvantage here is that this magazine is blocked during the gathering process, i.e. that during the interaction of the gathering device with this magazine, no new blanks can be inserted into it. It is therefore necessary to cycle the entire material flow in such a way that there are gaps in the gathering process, but this has a negative impact on the achievable output and thus the economy. In this sense, it is particularly disadvantageous that the gathering process has to be carried out relatively slowly in order to avoid malfunctions and cutting damage. Attempts have also been made to improve economy by accelerating the gathering process. Experience has shown, however, that malfunctions and damage to the blanks cannot be avoided at a high gathering speed.

Proceeding from this, it is therefore the object of the present invention to create, with simple and therefore inexpensive means, a device of the type mentioned at the outset which enables a comparatively high output and nevertheless ensures a high level of operational reliability and a gentle operation.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that a plurality of magazines arranged one behind the other on an endless path are provided, which can be transported step by step into a plurality of working positions by means of a cyclically activatable transport device, one of which is provided in the effective area of a feed device and at least one further one is provided in the effective area of at least one gathering device .

These measures practically result in a magazine paternoster and thus advantageously ensure that at least two magazines are continuously in use, one of which can be filled and the other emptied at the same time. Because the filling and the emptying take place simultaneously, any interruption of the material flow can advantageously be omitted, which enables a considerable increase in production. At the same time, however, it is ensured that the gathering process can proceed very slowly, which not only reliably eliminates operational disturbances, but also ensures that the blanks coming into engagement with the gathering device are handled gently. The measures according to the invention can therefore be expected to produce satisfactory results even when processing highly sensitive material. Another advantage of the measures according to the invention can be seen in the fact that due to the slow operation of the gathering device that is possible here, a low-noise and low-wear mode of operation is simultaneously guaranteed. The advantages that can be achieved with the invention can therefore be seen in excellent economy.

In an advantageous further development of the superordinate measures, the transport device can be driven from a single-speed shaft which specifies the machine cycle, wherein a free-wheel clutch which contains a register can be provided in the kinematic drive chain hoist and can expediently be activated by means of a preselection counter. These measures advantageously result in a step mechanism, the step spacing of which can be preset with the aid of the counter. This allows a high variability in terms of magazine assignment with one or more strips divided into individual blanks.

A further advantageous measure can consist in the fact that the transport path of the magazines passes below the gathering device. These measures ensure a high degree of structural freedom with regard to the design of the gathering device and enable the use of simple, inherently rigid gathering organs without coming into collision with the transport device.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the higher-level measures, the magazines can have rails extending transversely to the direction of the magazine, each of which is assigned a front and rear stop extending over their entire length, which preferably form wedges on the rails, which are formed by wedges rising in the forward direction of the gathering device limit the reception facilities to the side. The front and rear stops not only ensure a clean alignment of the blanks inserted into the individual receiving devices by the feed device, but at the same time also result in reliable securing of the blanks in position during operation of the transport device.

In a further advantageous embodiment of the superordinate measures, the magazine rails receiving the receiving devices and the supports receiving the stops are each received with their ends separately on chains which are preferably provided to form the transport device. The separate storage of the magazine rails and the stop support advantageously results in a space-saving design with regard to the required swivel space in the reversing areas of the transport device. The swivel space required for the rotation of the stops can advantageously be further reduced in the reversal area by folding or swiveling the stops onto the chains. These measures, which save space, ensure that only a small swivel space and thus only a small distance is required between the feed device and the magazine filling position assigned to it, which has an advantageous effect on operational safety.

Further expedient refinements and advantageous developments of the superordinate measures result from the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing in conjunction with the remaining subclaims.

In the production of playing cards, a sheet printed with this is cut into narrow long strips, which in turn are cut into corresponding rectangular blanks in the individual playing cards. For this purpose, the arrangement according to FIG. 1 is provided with a cutting station 1, which has an upper and a lower knife roller 2 or 3 with knife disks arranged next to one another in accordance with the printed image on the strips to be cut. The strips are removed from a stack 5 by means of a feeder 4 and transferred to the cutting station 1 with longitudinal edges running transversely to the knife roller axis. The transport of the strips through the cutting station is accomplished by the upstream and downstream pulling devices 6 and 7 formed by pair of pulling rolls. The strips which are brought out of the cutting station 1 by the pulling device 7 arranged downstream of the knife rollers are inserted in a separated form into a merging device 8 which merges the blanks lying next to one another to form a stack or butt. The merging device 8 is acted upon by a feed device 9, which has a belt or belt guide 10 for each of the blanks lying next to one another.

The merging device 8 has a plurality of magazines 11a, 11b and 11f arranged in a paternoster-like manner on an endless path, which have receiving devices 12 for the blanks lying next to one another and can be moved step by step with the aid of an associated transport device. As a result, the magazines 11a to 11f arranged one behind the other each arrive in several working positions. In the working position illustrated by the magazine 11a, the magazine in question is located in the effective area of the feed device 9. In this position, the strips, which have been cut into individual blanks in the separating station 1, are thrown into the magazine 11a from above in a split form, with their blanks lying next to one another thereby, as Figures 1 and 2 clearly show, occupies a position in which it is closed at the front and open at the rear. At the same time, the magazine 11b that is adjacent to the magazine 11a, here downstream in the direction of the magazine, is located in the effective area of a gathering device 13. In this working position, the playing card blanks present in the magazine 11b are brought together transversely to the direction of the magazine and in the form of a stack or joint that results on one side arranged, here formed by a delivery belt storage device 14.

As a rule, a deck of cards includes the printing of several strips. These are stored in separated form with their adjacent blanks in the working position illustrated by the magazine 11a on top of one another in the magazine in question. As soon as all playing card blanks belonging to a complete game are inserted into the magazine in question, the transport device receiving the magazines is activated. The bumps or stacks placed on the side delivery device each contain a complete game. The cycle in which the transport device receiving the magazines is activated is therefore predetermined by the number of strips required and can simply be derived from a single-turn shaft, not shown here, which specifies the machine cycle of the feeder 4. Each time the transport device is used, the filled magazine reaches the effective area of the gathering device 13 and is replaced by a new, empty magazine.

The gathering device 13 is, as can best be seen from FIG. 2, equipped with a Rafforgan 16 provided here by a fork with rigid tines 15, which by means of a drive device, not shown here, transversely to the magazine running direction in the longitudinal direction of the magazines for bringing together the blanks contained therein can be moved back and forth. The Rafforgans 16 are used at Magazin stopped. Instead of a reciprocating movement of the Rafforgan 16 this could also be recorded on a continuously rotating drive element, the speed of which is selected such that the Rafforgan 16 is not in the magazine engagement during a forward movement of the magazines. The transport path of the magazines passes below the gathering device 13, so that rigid fork tines 15 can be used. However, it would also be conceivable to arrange the gathering device 13 below the magazine transport path. In this case, it would then be necessary to provide extendable fork tines for the magazine insert. In any case, there is a long period of time available for the gathering or merging process, namely the same period of time required to insert the strips belonging to a complete game and cut into adjacent blanks into the magazine located in the effective area of the feed device 9. The Rafforgan 16 can therefore be moved correspondingly slowly, which ensures a high level of operational safety and a gentle working method.

The magazines 11a to 11f consist, as can best be seen from FIG. 3, of rails 17 which extend transversely to the direction of the magazine and on which wedges 18 arranged one behind the other are formed to form the receiving devices for the blanks lying next to one another, so that a fan position of the can be merged with the help of the Rafforgan, ie blanks or blanks of the type indicated at 19 to be stacked. The wedges 18 are accordingly thickened in the forward direction of the Rafforgans 16. The feed device 9 has a belt or belt guide 10 for each magazine-side receiving device. This can consist of two lower and an upper belt or belt arranged approximately in the center thereof. The transport plane of these belt or belt guides 10 arranged next to one another is inclined on the output side in accordance with the wedge inclination of the wedges 18. For this purpose, the individual belts or belts are offset relative to one another in terms of height, as indicated in FIG. 2. Here, the blanks to be placed on the wedges 18 already receive the required inclined position in the feed device 9. On the intake side, the transport plane of the belt or belt guides 10 can run parallel to the table. To ensure reliable alignment of the blanks in the insertion direction when filling the magazine assigned to the feed device 9 and reliable positional security during the subsequent magazine displacement movement, each rail 17 provided with wedges 18, as can be clearly seen in FIGS. 1 and 2, is a front and a one in the magazine running direction assigned in the magazine running direction rear stop 20 or 21. These consist of angled plates 23 which are accommodated in parallel to the rail 17 and have separate cross members 22. The front stop 20 in the direction of the magazine expediently has such a height that the blanks thrown into the associated magazine by the band guides 10 of the feed device 9 cannot shoot beyond it. In contrast, the rear stop 22 can be shortened somewhat, so that the blanks to be inserted into the magazine can pass over it. The distance between the stops 20 and 21 corresponds to the length of the rectangular cuts additionally required play. In contrast, the width of the wedges 18 is shortened in such a way that there are running channels delimited by the stops for the tines 15 of the Rafforgan 16 reaching at least as far as the wedge base.

In order to form the transport device assigned to the magazines 11a to 11f, two endless chains 25 are provided in the exemplary embodiment shown, as can further be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2, on which the ends of the rails 17 and carriers 22 extending over the entire width of the machine are received . For this purpose, as can be seen from FIG. 3, bolts 27 are formed on a chain lock 26, which engage in the bearing blocks 28 receiving the rails 17 or carriers 22. Each rail 17 and each support 22 is assigned a chain lock 26 per chain 25. The separate design and articulation of the rails 17 and carrier 22 ensures that in the deflection area of the chains 25 running over chain wheels 29, relatively little swivel space is required compared to a one-piece magazine design. In this way, the required distance between the magazine 11a located in the filling position provided in the reversal area and the feed device 9 can be reduced. In this sense, it is also advantageous if the diameter of the feed-side sprockets 29 is chosen to be as small as possible. In contrast, the diameter of the opposite front sprockets 29 can be freely selected and can therefore be adapted to the required speed reduction or reduction. It is therefore expedient not to drive the front sprockets on the supply side, but rather the opposite ones. In order to bring about a further saving in swivel space in the rear, feed-side deflection area, the stops 20 and 21 can be controlled in such a way that they rest on the crawler tracks 25 during the deflection process. In the illustrated embodiment, only the front, higher stop 20 should be controlled accordingly. For this purpose, the relevant bearing blocks 28 are pivotally received on the associated chain lock bolt 27 and are connected with the aid of at least one control lug 30 to the bearing blocks 28 of the respective preceding rear stop 21, which are arranged in a rotationally secure manner and belong to the respective preceding magazine. The bearing tabs 30 which engage outside of the pivot bearing cause the pivoting normally radially protruding leg of the angle plate 23 to the chains 25 or sprockets 29, as Figure 2 clearly shows. The higher stops 21 therefore also come with a swiveling space sufficient for the lower stops 21. The filling position is selected so that the carrier 22 receiving the rear stop 21 of the magazine 11 a, in contrast to the carrier 22 of the front stop 20 and the rail 17 receiving the receiving devices 12, has not yet left the area of the chain wheel 29 causing the deflection. The rear stop 21 is therefore tilted backwards relative to the front stop 20, which is approximately perpendicular to the receiving devices, so that there is an insertion opening.

To guide the chains 25, guide strips 31 are provided in the area between the rear and front sprockets 29, which are encompassed by the side link plates. To relieve the chains and to bring about an orderly run-up of the chains on the guide strips 31, their ends engage in the chain wheels 29, which, as shown in FIG. 3, are provided with corresponding recesses 32.

The front sprockets driven here are, as can further be seen in FIG. 3, received on a shaft 33 which is continuous over the machine width and has its ends mounted in the side walls and which is in turn driven by a single-speed shaft which does not show the machine cycle here. For this purpose, the shaft 33 can be coupled to a drive wheel 34, which is designed here as a chain wheel and is in engagement with a chain 35 that can be driven by the single-speed shaft. The drive wheel 34 is freely rotatably mounted on the shaft 33 and can be coupled to it by means of a free-wheel clutch 36 containing register. This is designed as an electromagnetic clutch provided with a register element, which is controlled by a counter, not shown here, which is designed as a preselection counter. This is set so that the one-way clutch 36 is activated after a certain number of revolutions of the single-speed shaft and the shaft 33 takes in the region of a certain crank angle of the single-speed shaft, whereby the paternoster-like magazines 11a to 11f are moved one step further. There are naturally small gaps between the strips transferred from the feeder 4 to the cutting station 1, the width of which corresponds to a certain crank angle of the single-speed shaft. To ensure continuous operation, the gear ratio or reduction provided when driving the transport device assigned to the magazines from the single-tour shaft is selected such that the chains 25 forming the transport device here at least cover the distance between the working positions illustrated by magazines 11a and 11b travel within the same crank angle of the single-speed shaft.
