Definitions
- the invention relates to a thermal insulation curtain for windows, doors and the like according to the preamble of the main claim.
- a thermal insulation arrangement is basically known from DE - A-27 03 688, where a protective device for translucent closed window or door openings is described.
- This known heat protection device should also be able to be used freely hanging and loosely at a distance from a window or door opening in the manner of a roller blind or a curtain, but this is only possible to a limited extent.
- the known thermal insulation arrangement has the same task, namely to reflect long-wave radiation emitted from the interior of the room in the direction of windows or doors, or to prevent heat radiation from the outside; a direct use of the known film as a curtain, however, stands in the way of some essential obstacles which are due to the mechanical properties of the plastic film or to those of the coating.
- the known film in particular a polyester film which can preferably be used for technical and optical reasons, does not fall like fabric, but rather does not form folds due to its elasticity.
- the known heat protection film does not remain completely flat, which is due to clamping and edge influences and leads to visually unsightly bulges. In the event of drafts, the film flutters, causing annoying reflections.
- dirt is easily noticeable both on the coating and on the uncoated side of a smooth film, which is particularly disadvantageous because the film cannot be cleaned like a pane or a fabric curtain.
- a fold-forming curtain material is known from US Pat. No. 3,775,235, which consists of relatively stiff areas which alternate with flexible strips. When hanging, this creates folds in the area of the flexible strips.
- FR-A 2 236 453 shows a fabric web which is suitable as a curtain and forms accordion-like folds. The formation of folds is caused by soft, strip-shaped areas in the fabric, in which it is particularly flexible.
- CH-A 244 002 shows a sun protection curtain, which is wound up on a roller in the manner of a roller blind.
- the curtain is made of opaque material with perforations, which to a certain extent allow the view through the curtain.
- the perforations are arranged in rows in adjacent columns, but wrinkling is not possible because the curtain material is rolled up on a roller and therefore hangs smoothly from it.
- US-A 2155376 shows a window shield, the surface of which is worked with a corrugated knife to produce groove-shaped elevations and depressions. This results in a diffuse light distribution and the film is less transparent, although it allows a large amount of light to pass through.
- the thermal insulation curtain according to the invention with the characterizing features of the main claim eliminates the disadvantages described above and makes it possible to use a known heat protection film, for. B. use a polyester film with a metallic coating or a coating of indium oxide in an aesthetically pleasing form and without disturbing side effects like a curtain inside buildings, which significantly extends the range of energy-saving heat protection films.
- a plastic film which is preferably perforated like a strip
- a thermal insulation curtain composed of individual strips has proven to be particularly advantageous.
- the required mechanical properties for use as a curtain are achieved by reducing the elasticity in the perforation area.
- the elastic restoring forces in the film are reduced to such an extent that the difficulties described at the beginning no longer occur.
- An advantageous, particularly inexpensive interim solution between a known one-piece heat protection film and a thermal insulation curtain constructed from individual strips consists in partially loosening the mechanical cohesion of the plastic film by removal or embossing, so that an arrangement is produced which has similar properties to the arrangement in the form of a strip.
- FIG. 1 shows a curtain-like thermal insulation arrangement with vertical perforation areas
- FIG. 2 shows an enlarged representation of a curtain according to FIG. 1 with fold formation in the area of the perforation strips
- FIG. 3 shows a thermal insulation curtain braided from individual strips in the form of a mat
- FIG. 4 shows a curtain-like design with foil strips woven into a coarse-mesh fabric curtain.
- FIG. 1 schematically shows a curtain 10 with vertically running strip-like perforation areas 11.
- the perforation is drawn out again in the cutout 12.
- the hole diameter and the hole spacing of the perforation are of the order of 1 mm.
- the extent and the mutual spacing of the vertically running perforated areas 11 are between 20 mm and 100 mm.
- the curtain 10 can be attached to a curtain rod 13 in any manner.
- FIG. 2 shows, in an enlarged representation, the fold formation of the curtain 10 with bends in the area of the perforation 11.
- the non-perforated areas 14 remain essentially flat due to their rigidity and elasticity.
- FIG. 3 shows a thermal insulation curtain in which the plastic film cut into strips 15 is joined together by braiding to form a mat.
- the vertically extending strips 15 are hatched, technically the vertically and horizontally extending strips 15 are identical.
- the strips 15 have a width of approx. 3-15 mm, but narrower or significantly wider strips can also be processed if necessary, depending on the size of the overall arrangement.
- FIG. 4 Another alternative in the design option of the thermal insulation curtain according to the invention is shown in FIG. 4.
- strips 16 of the coated plastic film are woven into a coarse-mesh fabric curtain 17, which results in an aesthetically particularly appealing arrangement.
- the film strips 16 and the curtain 17 are welded or glued together in the edge zones 18, depending on the materials used.
- a further alternative to the design of the thermal insulation curtain according to the invention which is not shown in the drawing and is similar in appearance to the curtain in FIG. 4, consists in that the mechanical cohesion of the plastic film is partially released by removal or embossing. This also creates areas with greatly reduced elasticity and thus significantly lower restoring forces, so that such an arrangement, which is particularly inexpensive to manufacture, can be handled like a curtain.
- the at least partial weakening of the known thermal insulation plastic film according to the invention achieves a change in the mechanical properties of the film in such a way that it becomes selectively deformable in predetermined areas in order to improve hand lifting.
- the mechanical properties are influenced in such a way that wrinkling similar to that of a fabric curtain is made possible.
- a perforation or a corresponding subdivision of the total area also prevents the transmission of the forces that cause the film to flutter.
- the rows of holes and the hole sizes are selected so that the desired effect occurs in a targeted manner and that, on the other hand, there is no excessive impairment of the heat protection effect.
- horizontal or diagonal rows of holes can also be used for technical or aesthetic reasons, which leads to other decorative effects.
- the holes in the perforation can be made by a mechanical process, e.g. B. generated by punching or, for example, by electron or laser radiation.
- the elastic restoring forces are very much reduced compared to a one-piece film and are only transmitted to a small extent by frictional forces.
- the mats can also be produced by weaving processes, by sewing or by welding or gluing and other joining techniques. 4 a very fabric-like appearance is achieved, which is particularly advantageous for household applications for aesthetic reasons.
- Mesh division and stripe width can be freely selected within wide limits, with the ability to form folds and the plastic deformability decrease with increasing stripe width. It is essential with regard to the manufacturing process of the thermal insulation curtain according to the invention that the plastic film can be coated in a continuous process.
- the processing of the thermal insulation curtain according to the invention is possible on devices suitable for mass production.
- the disadvantages of known films described at the beginning no longer occur, that is to say that in particular the flutter, disturbing reflections, poor manipulability, quickly noticeable contamination and the unsatisfactory visual impression are either gone or at least reduced to a small extent.
- the layer system of the heat protection film can, depending on Ver intended purpose selected; In particular, protective layers made of lacquer or polymer layers, for example, can be additionally applied, as can additional anti-reflective layers.
- the structure of the coating is of secondary importance and, like the material and thickness of the carrier film, can be compensated for by appropriate dimensioning of the attenuation measures.
