Les deux vitrages ainsi réunis forment un ensemble monobloc, en général en forme de carré ou de rectangle, et l'on extrude alors sur les quatre chants de cet ensemble un mastic durcissable, par exemple du silicone, à la suite de quoi on applique sur chaque chant, de façon à chevaucher l'ensemble monobloc, un profilé présentant plus ou moins une forme en U avec une base et des ailes enserrant l'ensemble des deux vitrages, les extrémités adjacentes de deux profilés de deux chants consécutifs étant taillées en biseau pour le raccordement d'angle.
