Description

The present invention relates to a device for binding perforated sheets by means of a finger binding bent from wire, moreover with the features mentioned in the preamble of claim 1.

A device of this type has become known from US Pat. No. 4,155,134, in which the endless material of the finger binding is conveyed through a type of sprocket into a loop serving as a buffer, from which the continuous material is fed to a cutting device through a further sprocket. Then a cut piece of the finger binding is pressed into the perforations of the binding material by means of closing jaws. The known device requires a considerable amount of space due to the intermediate storage. Furthermore, sprockets and toothed belts have the disadvantage that they only properly convey the finger binding material if its division, ie the distances between the individual fingers, fluctuate only within very small tolerances. With larger deviations, the material is deformed and precautions must be taken be met that deformed pieces of material are removed from the device. Considering the fact that the perforation of the Bindeguts allows a relatively large pitch tolerance of the finger bond, an unnecessary expense either 'emove for small attitude of tolerance or e destroyed binding pieces must be driven here.

The present invention is intended to create a device of the type mentioned which on the one hand takes up little space and on the other hand is suitable for processing binding material with a high division tolerance.

This object is achieved according to claim 1, the wording of which reference is made below.

According to this, two screws are used for conveying, one of which conveys to the cutting device, the other to the binding station. There the binding pieces are pressed together with the help of locking jaws, so that the fingers of the binding pieces engage in the perforation of the arches and hold the arches together. The drives are designed so that they can both be stopped during the cutting process and during the binding process. In addition, it is ensured that the first screw is stopped during a conveying cycle of the second screw, namely when the second screw advances a separated binding piece to the binding station.

Snails have the advantage that they gently grip and convey the binding material bent from wire, even if its division fluctuates within large tolerances. The material is never pressed against a guide part by a screw and squeezed together.

Through a further development according to claim 2, a particularly gentle initial intervention can be ensured.

In addition to the second screw, both closing jaws and separate guide parts can be provided for the separated binding pieces. According to claim 3, however, the device can be simplified in that the guide parts also form the closing jaws.

According to claim 4, it can be ensured that the closing jaws on the one hand can be very closely adjacent to the screw, as is necessary for their guiding function, but on the other hand that their closing movement is not hindered by the screw.

While two separate motor drives can be provided for the two screws according to claim 5, a common drive can preferably be provided for both screws according to claim 6, which drives or stops both screws together, while a clutch ensures that the first screw is stopped while the second screw feeds binding pieces to the binding station.

Figures 1 and 2 show the known finger bindings. First, the basic material 1 according to FIG. 1 is bent out of wire, which is initially flat. It has individual fingers 3 in the form of hairpins. The base material is then bent into the shape according to FIG. 2 and thus represents the still open finger binding 5. The fingers 3 can be recognized again. The finger binding is to be pressed together by a closing device so that the fingers engage in the holes of a pack of sheets and keep the packs together permanently.

Figures 3 and 4 show an embodiment of a device according to the invention. The device has a cutting device 9 and a binding station 12. A first screw 14, which is connected to a stationary guide rail 16 or the like, is used to convey the continuous material of the finger binding 5, which runs from a roll (not shown), to the cutting device 9. works together. A second screw 18 is used to convey separated binding pieces 5 ′ to the binding station 12. Both screws have tapering, ie. H. beginnings 19 tapering towards its end in the radius, thereby ensuring a gentle intervention.

The screws are equipped with an intermittent drive, which can be designed in different ways. It has at least one drive motor 20. One or more clutches 22, 23 can additionally be provided.

The binding station 12 has a table 25 with a stop 26 which is adjustable and fixable against the second screw 18. The table is used to hold the binding material 28, i. H. perforated sheets. The stop 26 is adjusted so that the holes 30 of the material project from the edge 32 of the table so that the fingers 3 of the finger binding can engage in the holes.

Between the second screw 18 and the table 25, two locking jaws 34 are pivotally arranged. In the position shown in FIG. 4, they also serve as guide parts which hold a separated binding piece 5 'on the second screw 18. By means not shown, both locking jaws 34 can be pivoted about an axis 36 which runs parallel to the axis 38 of the screw 18.

The locking jaws 34 can also be arranged pivotably about the screw axis 38, if this is expedient for spatial reasons, or about an axis which lies between the screw axis 38 and the location of the axis 36.

Arbeitsweise:How it works:

Figure 5 shows schematically the positions of the parts at the end of the four work cycles of a work cycle. Figure 6 shows the activity of the two screws during the four work cycles of a work cycle.

Both screws are driven in cycle 1. The first screw 14, supported by the second screw 18, conveys the endless material of the finger binding 5 through the opened knives of the cutting device 9 to the right until there is a piece of suitable length for the intended binding on the right.

In the cycle 2, both screws rest while the cutting device 9 cuts off a piece 5 'of the finger binding.

Is inserted - in the clock 3, only the second screw 18 operates and pushes the piece 5 'to into the correct position on the table 25 in front, to which the binding material 28, ie, a packing perforated sheets ge.

In cycle 4, both screws rest while the locking jaws 34 of the binding device compress the binding piece 5 'so that it assumes a cylindrical shape, the fingers 3 reaching from below through the holes 30 of the binding material. In Figure 4 the closing jaws 34 are shown in broken lines in their closed position and the finger binding 5 ″ bent in a cylindrical shape.

This completes a work cycle. As the next cycle begins at bar 1, as described, the bound sheets are removed.

Varianten des intermittierenden AntriebesVariants of the intermittent drive

As Figure 6 shows, the two snails behave synchronously in bars 1, 2 and 4, i. H. they promote in bar 1 and rest in bars 2 and 4. In bar 3, on the other hand, the second snail works while the first snail is at rest.

A drive that can do this can be implemented in various ways. For example, the drive motor 20 can work intermittently and a clutch 23 can be provided between the two screws. When the clutch is engaged, both screws behave synchronously (cycles 1, 2 and 4). In cycle 3, the clutch is disengaged so that only the second worm 18 is driven while the first worm is at rest.

Instead, a continuously running motor 20 and an additional clutch 22 can be provided, which then serves to shut down both screws together. The clutch 23 has the function described above.

According to a further variant, a motor can drive the second worm 18 at 40 by means of gear wheels or belts.

If it is cheaper for spatial reasons, the motor can sit to the left of the first worm 14. This worm is then driven from the clutch 23 by a hollow shaft, and the motor drives a shaft which runs through the hollow shaft and the coupling and drives the worm 18 directly.

According to a further variant, both screws can be driven by an intermittently working motor.
