Description

The invention relates to a convertible lifter / film inking unit with an ink fountain roller arranged on an ink fountain, an ink fountain roller supplying ink to the downstream ink rollers, a lifting roller which can be adjusted to the ink fountain roller and can be swung away therefrom, the swiveling mechanism of which can be switched off in film operation, and an additional roller with a hard roller Roller surface that can be adjusted to the ink fountain roller and the inking roller in film operation.

From DE-A-2703424 an inking unit for offset printing machines of the type specified above is known. In this adjustable inking unit, only the additional ink take-up roller lies between the ink fountain roller and the inking roller, a lifting roller being pivoted between the ink fountain roller arranged in an ink fountain and the additional ink take-off roller during lifting operation. In order to convert this known inking unit for film operation, the said ink take-off roller is placed directly on the ink fountain roller so that it works as a film roller, while the lifter roller remains in permanent contact with the ink take-off roller so that it acts as a rider roller. Simultaneous lifting / film operation is not possible with this arrangement.

The object of the invention is to provide a convertible inking unit of the type mentioned in such a way that the lifting roller interacts with the ink fountain roller and the inking unit roller in the lifting operation, a simultaneous combined lifting / film operation should also be possible.

This object is achieved in accordance with the characterizing part of patent claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention result from the subclaims and from the description in conjunction with the drawings.

An advantage of the invention is that the design of the roller surfaces can be individually adapted to the conditions for the lifting operation and for the film operation. So z. B. the inking roller cooperating with the jack roller have a smooth surface, while the roller cooperating with the ink fountain roller in film operation can have a structured surface. A further advantage lies in the combined lifter / film mode of operation, in which the ink is connected to the downstream inking rollers without any significant additional effort, both for the film roller and via the lifter roller, ie. H. can be fed in two ways. The convertible inking unit according to the invention can thus be operated in one of three modes, namely lifting operation, film operation or combined operation.

In diesen zeigt

The invention is described in detail below on the basis of exemplary embodiments, reference being made to the drawings. In these shows
  • Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of the upper part of an adjustable lifter / film inking unit, and
  • 2 shows a modified embodiment of the inking unit according to FIG. 1.

In Fig. 1, the upper part of a convertible lifter / film inking unit is shown schematically, which is used in a known manner with a number of ink transfer rollers and ink drivers (not shown) for inking a plate cylinder (not shown).

The part of the convertible inking unit shown in FIG. 1 comprises a driven ink fountain roller 2 arranged on an ink fountain 1, a lifting roller 3, which is shown by a schematically indicated pivot mechanism 4 between the ink fountain roller 2 and a driven inking roller 5, which can be designed, for example, as a grater and the surface of which rotates at an approximately or precise plate cylinder circumferential speed, can be pivoted, and an additional roller 6 with a hard surface, which is entrained by friction and which can be set between the ink fountain roller and the inking roller 5.

The roller 6 is a so-called hard roller, i. H. it has a hard surface, for example made of steel, which can be structured. A cast roller is preferably used as the ink fountain roller 2 and the surface of the lifting roller 3 and the roller 7 (FIG. 2) are rubberized. The inking roller 5 is also a so-called hard roller. It can be coated with a hard plastic, e.g. B. with Rilsan.

The drive mechanisms of the ink fountain roller 2 and the inking roller 5 are not shown in detail since they are general prior art. The same applies to the adjusting device of the film or lifter roller. In the lifting operation, the lifting roller 3 is pivoted back and forth between the ink fountain roller 2 and the inking roller 5 by the pivot mechanism 4. If the inking unit is now to work as a film inking unit, the swivel mechanism 4 is first switched off and the lifting roller 3 is preferably set against the inking unit roller 5, so that it works as a rider roller. If necessary, however, it is also possible to fix the lifter roller 3 in a middle position in which it is not connected to the ink fountain roller 2 or to the inking roller 5. For the film operation then only the roller 6, which is preferably placed on the inking roller 5 in the lifting operation and thus acts as a rider roller, needs to be turned on the ink fountain roller 2, which is indicated by the dot-dash position 6 '. The setting means required for this process, e.g. B. eccentric bearings, pneumatic cylinders, etc., are generally known and therefore not shown. Since the roller 6 is driven by friction from the inking roller 5 or forcibly and thus also rotates at approximately plate cylinder speed while the ink box roller 2 is driven at a much lower speed, a corresponding ink transfer gap must be maintained between the roller 6 and the ink fountain roller 2.

A major advantage of the inking unit according to the invention is the possibility of having it work in a combined mode of operation. This is possible when the roller 6 is positioned against the ink fountain roller 2 and the inking roller 5 and by simultaneous activation of the lifting roller 3 by means of the swivel mechanism 4. As a result, ink can be transported in a quasi-parallel manner from the ink fountain roller 2 via the roller 6 to the inking roller 5 and secondly from the ink fountain roller 2 via the lifting roller to the inking roller 5.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the hard roller 6 works together with the hard inking roller 5 in film operation and in combined operation. Since both rollers rotate at approximately the same peripheral speed, this is not a problem. However, it can be advantageous to have a roller with a hard surface and a roller with a soft surface interact. This roller sequence is possible in the modified embodiment according to FIG. In Fig. A roller 7 is arranged with a soft surface between the roller 6 and the inking roller 5. The roller 7 is expediently in constant contact with the inking roller 5 and with the roller 6. This applies to all three operating modes. The soft roller 7 thus works continuously on the inking roller 5 as a rider roller. In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, only the roller 6, which is constantly connected to the soft roller 7, is turned on the ink fountain roller 2 for film operation and combined operation, which is indicated by the reference symbol 6 '.

In the same way as in the device according to FIG. 1, the lifting roller 3 is alternately applied to the ink fountain roller 2, which is indicated by the reference symbol 3 ', and to the inking roller 5 by the pivot mechanism 4.

In the exemplary embodiments described above, the lifter roller 3 works in film operation as a rider roller on the inking unit roller 5 and the roller 6 or roller 7 in lifting operation as a rider roller on the inking unit roller 5. This offers advantages since the ink film on the inking unit roller 5 also has a favorable effect, d. H. is evened out. Another advantage of the combined mode of operation is that excess dampening solution can be transported back into the ink fountain by the lifter roller 3.
